I used to drink valerian tea, that really helped me to get into a "ready to sleep" stage, but the thing with valerian is - you have to drink it regularly so that your body has a certain level of valerian throughout the day and I often left out my daily valerian dosages. I do smoke from time to time (tobacco, that is), I think it would really depend on the taste of the herbs to decide if I want the tea or the smoke 😃 but I could imagine the active substances getting faster into your system via smoke than tea.

I take Cannabis (legally,with an Rx for those that that's important to, ) to help manage chronic pain from spinal injuries and a botched irreparable fusion surgery that left me with worse pain that never got better. But, I will actually use both oil AND smoke or 'dry-herb vape' at the same time. The oil alone doesnt seem to get strong enough for me unless I take quite a bit, and then I will later on find myself completely beyond wrecked, and it will last longer ingested than with smoking... and smoking or vaping doesn't last long enough for me, though it's stronger because I begin feeling it after just 1 or 2 hits, but it's also much easier to determine dose because the effects from smoking or vaping are pretty immediate. Combining oil and smoking simultaneously seems to be the answer for me to get relief that lasts long enough, but is also sufficiently strong to ease nerve pain. I think of the oil sort of as an extended release version of the Cannabis, whereas smoke or vape is more immediate release, and I will use it as a sort of booster for the oil, to bring the general level of relief to a plateau as much as possible, to deliver as consistent a level of relief as is possible, without overdoing it. All in all, Cannabis can be really tricky to learn what's the best ways for you to use it when treating a condition, and we didnt even get into all the different strains, but I would definitely give yourself ample time to try it out, at different strengths and types and settings, because Cannabis can be a truly life-changing and beneficial medicinal plant to treat many ailments, but often I think people dont give themselves ample time to get to know a strain, not realizing that often the medicinal benefits arent felt or realized from trying it just once, and it often takes a bit of trial and error before a person works out tbe best way for themselves to use it. And knowing your strains are a huge part. If you just randomly take any strain, to treat whatever ailments, in whichever random amounts, and without considering what you will be doing while on it, you are more likely to not be helped by Cannabis. It's important to learn about which strains you try, I even keep a log, so that you can get to know which strains are helpful for what ailments, and also what strains should only be taken at bed time, and which are almost like a cup of coffee, great for day but something to avoid too close to bed. Because the effects of Cannabis can vary, with effects often being polar opposite to the experience of other strains of Cannabis. Suchas Indica varieties which tend to generally be more for nighttime and are thought to be more sedating, vs. Sativa varieties,which are generally thought of as being more for daytime...Though even this can be misleading, as many Sativa varieties will knock you on your butt, and likewise you have Indica varieties that are perfectly suitable for use during the day. So, it really does take a bit of trial and error, but I would encourage you to have patience and to tailor your dose and strains, because Cannabis is truly a medicinal plant from God, capable of effecting deep healing on multiple levels. I use it to treat severe pain from a spinal injury, but Ive also noticed a profound change for the positive in my mental state. Also, sometimes it's a matter of just finding the right strains that speak to your particular biology. Anyway, good luck, I'm fairly certain Cannabis can help with your sleep the way it has for me. I recommend indica strains with some CBD in them as where I would start if trying to use Cannabis for an insomnia issue. All the best!

You should try a dry herb vape. It uses vapour instead of smoke so it’s a lot less harmful.
vapour it is still harmful. it can cause fungus on your lungs. and smoke can burn or dry them. they are both bad.
