Man I just had this yesterday and still today I can feel it but 90% less. It all started when I came home about 3pm after taking a shower, 2-3 minutes later I started feeling the itching, and oh boy I didn’t know what to do with myself. I was going back and forth in my room just scratching myself but just when I scratched one spot, the other one was itching and them when I scratched that spot, the spot before started itching again, it was unbearable I cannot explain how tough this was, I noticed that the wind helped me so I just sat in front of my fan trying to get rid of itching and it did, but only if knew it was for just a short period of time, 30-45 minutes later I had another episode which. I don’t know if it was worse than the previous one, I was screaming because I just didn’t know what to do with my self, mentally I was out of this world. I just wanted to rip my skin apart and be done with the itching. Important thing for anybody experiencing this you REALLY need someone with you it is crucial because at the moments I had my episodes of attacks I was prepared to do anything and I mean anything just to stop the pain. Anyways I took pills for stress relief, for alergies, drank a lot and when I say a lot I mean a lot of water, was always putting some kind of cream from aloe vera and some cream for the sun burns. Anyways hours have passed I had few minor attack episodes but they went pretty ok. Then at 11pm I decided to try to sleep so I can somehow “survive” that horrible day, and than OMG I was having the worst episode since the start I was about to go insane so I wen’t to the doctor, just to hear oh yeah don’t worry man up and it will be ok, I mean what the f, really, this doctor obviously never had patient that had this, note this doctor was like the head doctor in the biggest and main clinical center in whole country!!! Anyways car ride back home helped me relieve some of the itching because I said that in my case direct strong wind helped me cope with it. I came home put the aloe vera cream to cool of, put the cream for the burns and then, yes, you guessed it BIGGEST EVER F ING EPISODE EVERRRR, I started crying I didn’t know what to do my mom was frightened I ran into the bathroom and started showering the spot but if I just didn’t shower one place for just a second I was in extreme pain, I was praying to god to just stay alive and sane, the itching OMG I cannot explain, I was in shower for about an hour than the itching was lets say medium but I couldn’t shower more because there was no more water left in the boiler and it was freezing cold, anyways I lay on the bed in extreme pain, remember I watched some random yt video and then my lack of sleep helped me somehow fall asleep and I really don’t remember how. I woke up at aroun half 7 this morning and I still feel a little bit of itching but oh boy this does not compare to the anything I have experienced yesterday. I hope it gets better soon and that I will stop feeling the itching. It has been 12+ hours or to be exact from around 3pm to 6:30 am the next day. Also hahaha next to the itching I have second degree burns only because of the sun. So please guys wear sunscreen, and stay in the shade in the hottest part of the day. I made that mistake, I went to the pool two days before and been almost the whole day out in the sun. FOR ALL OF YOU FOLKS GOING THROUGH THIS IT WILL GET BETTER, I don’t know what else to say, because you will hear from the others stay strong, but oh boy is that gonna be a big job. I was reading through comments so I decided to share my story that might help someone. Love yall ❤️

You kept making it worse with the use of the aloe vera cream. It might work for normal sunburns but not this evil motherfucker. It makes the next attacks worse. Much like hot showers. I just had this yesterday. Lasted me about 15hrs until i finally passed out from the sedative i used to sleep because it was unbearable. Legit cancelled all work and slept for 18 hrs. Spent a few hours out in the lake two days ago. This afternoon I started to feel the tingling and itching and thought it was just normal itchy sunburn. At 9 PM just took a normal shower as usual. When I got out that’s when it all started. Everything kicked in at once and I started freaking tf out. I was running back and forth in my house not knowing what to do wanting to tear the skin off my body. I know what you mean it’s the middle of the night rn and I’m afraid of another episode. I just had this last night for the third time in my life. It is excruciating torture. Do not take a bath or use aloe or cream. Get a soft blanket and brink it back and forth over your back or torso. It will go away. Usually it lasts 30 minutes for me, but last night it went on for an hour and a half. I was rolling on the ground bat shit crazy for forever man. I would have gone to urgent care but i would have crashed my car on the way. You can't die from it, wait it out and enjoy the cred afterwards of getting through torture like a friggin double agent spy who gets waterboarded and doesn't break. Stay mentally strong, if you feel suicidal tell someone immediately of your brains intensions to escape the pain. Drink lots of water and take benadryl and ibuprofen. Keep your shirt on, for some reason it helps and other people saying it helps online. I read an article where a marine said it makes Marines cry who go through it, sometimes worse than childbirth. Feels validating, and tie that with knowing it won't last more than and hour and a half will give you some mental strength.

I started doing meditation to sleep. I literally cut all the movements and desire to scratch below my head. I had weird dreams and also woke up about 10 times. But I could sleep 3.30 hours now. The ONE thing that really HELPED me with it was to wrap myself in a blanket in a WARM-HOT ROOM and literally sweat. It sounds weird but apparently raising your bodies temperature stops it. I moved to Hawaii about seven months ago and I went to the beach here and there but I never stayed out for more than an hour. I went with my friend to a birthday party and we were out there for over eight hours and I totally forgot sunscreen. I have the worst sunburn I’ve ever had in my life. The pain was slowly starting to go away but last night I started getting really itchy on my back and I thought maybe I had an ant crawling on me, my mom told me to take a cold bath but it only got worse from there. I started crying and screaming and cussing it was so unbearable and I literally felt like killing myself… My mom gave me Benadryl and two doses of sleeping medicine, she called the doctors and they said it was okay to do so. The Benadryl didn’t help me for some reason and the only way that it would stop was if my mom lightly touched my back and moved her hand over it slowly and it gave me the chills but it helped she did this for almost an hour and every time she stopped it instantly came back, she got tired and went to sleep bc it was like 12:00. Even though I took two doses of sleeping meds I haven’t been able to sleep I tossed and turned and was itchy all night but I wasn’t as bad. I just can’t wait for this to go away

This is the worst thing I have ever experienced. Nothing can compare. Years of crushing depression, poverty, hunger, illness. All that is in my past is insignificant compared to the indescribable agony that I felt until about an hour ago. After a shower/bath, copious amounts of aloe Vera gel, 800 mg of ibuprofen, and lots of hydrocortisone it’s still present. However, I am now able to do a bit more than writhe, grunt, and scream in agony and anger. I begged to God to make it stop and received no answer. It was the most defeated I’ve ever felt. It is on much of my chest and back and feels like fire ants are biting me all over UNDERNEATH my skin. Scratching only makes the fire burn hotter and spread like through a dry and dead forest. I have a high pain tolerance and rarely complain of normal pain, but this is humbling. Please if you are reading this, WEAR SUNCSCREEN.

I’ve been to 2 dr’s which got it wrong twice then went to a dermatologist for it one of the last times I had it on my feet which kept me awake for a couple days unable to sleep. He got it right. He said the reason the itching feels like it’s firing off and itches severely it’s because my nerve endings were most likely inflamed due to the sunburn.
It’s usually easy to spot not by a typical looking sunburn but every time I’ve had personally it it will appear red blotchy in that area. Typically I get it on my back but did have it once on the top of my feet but never on places normally exposed and tanned like my arms. Mine usually last 2-3 days of sever itching like your nerves are firing but with a extreme itch then tapers off. He’s on the right track by taking Benadryl that’s what my dermatologist told me to take but I was given a double dose. (not sure if that was just to help me sleep or if he always recommends a double dose for that)He also had me use ice packs on the infected area which does help soothe it but whatever you do DON’T apply heat it will only make it much more worse as if it wasn’t bad enough already. Also get hydrocortisone and Eucerine mix it 50/50 and apply to the area.
Any NSAID does help with the inflammation also so he’s right on that part too. If you pale skinned like me be careful in the earlier parts of the summer when you haven’t tanned yet and are still adjusting to the sun. That’s usually when it strikes. Make sure to use sunblock even if you think your not going to burn and if your burn easy like me keep covered and use umbrellas when on the beaches when possible and limit your sun exposure. If you burn easily and decide to stay at the beach all day your asking for it. I’m at the beach on vacation now and on day 4 staying under my umbrella most the day and keeping my fingers crossed. So far so good but I have 1 more day to go. I hope my aweful experiences can get some info out there to others because it’s hard to get this info from a dr trust me. Been there done that several times.

From personal experience, 100% essential peppermint oil, mixed with a carrier oil (like olive oil) is the only thing that relieved this thing. This itch is torture. Try 6 or so drops of peppermint oil mixed with lotion or something safe and mild for your skin. Peppermint oil is too strong to put on by itself

I went to the pool with my sister a few days ago, noticed I was burnt even though I was only there for a few hours, I got home and the next day it started, I had to sit in front of my fan to get the itch to go away, and it worked for the rest of the day. Tonight, I couldn't sleep, it felt like someone was taking knives and just repeatedly stabbing my arms, the lukewarm bath was what did it for me this time. I think tonight was the worst, so here's hoping it gets better from here. I've only had this once before, and I remember I was a kid laying in my bath tub just scream crying because of how bad it was.

My remedy is to not use shampoo on the beard for the first few weeks of beard growth. Let your natural sebum do its thing. The shampoo will dry out your face. In addition to no shampoo, make sure to scratch your skin with your finger nails and scratch off all the dead skin under the shower. Most of the itchiness is because of dead skin

Apple cider vinegar. Pour it into the area that is burning.
It happened after 2 days that I went to the beach. I was feeling like the skin on my back was being punctured by needles. And it burned so bad... and the itching was insane.
I was going crazy. I thought about running naked on the street screaming for help. Then I found out about vinegar. And I had a bottle at home and just poured the whole bottle on my back. Instant relief.
Taking a cold shower only helped for 1 or 2 minutes. Apple cider vinegar is the way to go.
