After playing HOI4 for a year, I went to go watch a WW2 documentary and was genuinely confused at why Greenland wasn't a part of the Kiwi Empire and why France didn't join the commiterm and was wondering the whole time why it was taking Germany so long to overthrow Hitler and restore the Kaiser, I just kept waiting for it to happen and it never did. I then realized HOI4 had completely rewritten the history of WW2 in my brain, and that was only after I convinced myself I wasn't in some alternate reality or dimension and that HOI4 was the original timeline. TLDR don't get a history degree in HOI4.

Up to 80,000 accepted being shunned by joining the UK military during WW2. The only economic boom the Irish state has ever had was 90's-2008. Everything outside of that was economic hardship/inability to develop infrastructure (EU helped this a huge amount). Nowadays the corruption and landlordism is destorying the country. Our military is underfunded beyond belief despite not being part of NATO. We cant even keep all of our navy active (its like 9 ships lul) because of lack of staffing. On paper Ireland is one of the wealthiest country in the world but more than a decent chunk have to juggle bills or in the winter decide between heating or food. Our neutrality is a point of contention of which I maintain neutrality, aid does not mean military. Economic and social, charitable even yes. That hasnt outright changed, but the massive push to support Ukraine by the usual suspects+the ease with which they disarm ourselves and payout billions whilst also bearing the "costs of war" onto the public, has led to me being fervently anti Ukraine.
