I mean the games really weren't that mature or dark, they barely swear, blood is minimal and the most dark things in the game are just audio logs. You can have PG 13 more mature shows, PG13 never stopped some of the MCU or other movied from being somewhat mature and dark, they could just cut the swearing and blood that barely exist in the games anyway.

Does his family need the life insurance money and, as it turns out, "Death By Vault Hunter" qualifies? Or did he watch Hot Fuzz, and wanted to scientifically know if your head will explode when shot? Or is this matter of revenge, as he alone knows the secrets of the Vault, and by shooting him, you lose access to critical information?
facemcshooty is such a honest character. he gives you quest rewards for just shooting him in the face and doesn't demand much of your time except for a few minutes listening to his funny performance. thats much more fulfilling than watching the geriatriclands movie that will suck your soul away down into the abyss if you're a borderlands story fans.
I really dont get this movie. It should have cast young cast 20-30 year olds. And focus on a simple gun blazing action adventure movie like Dredd. Keep it stylize and simple. Keep it light but not deprecating joke, like how Guardian 1 was. Would have done alot better
Of all the people to put into an action hero role...Jamie Foxx, Keith David, Denzel, Michael B Jordan...you plopped down KEVIN HART. He's barely even good in comedies.
I just can’t understand who they make these movies for… you mean to tell me they couldn’t hire one gamer who liked the game to get the script/casting right??
That's the thing, they develop these products for "everyone" (literally), sometimes using trends to draw attention, hiring "stars", etc.. the videogame public is inconsequential, the Switch is breaking sales records at 150 million or something, this number compared to billions lol it's another scale entirely. Still, it's a noisy public willing or not, Last of Us and Fallout generated a lot of noise, drawing the "normies", etc.. Maybe other videogame adaptations will try to follow their examples, trying to be more faithful to the source, generating noise on social media and so on, but we will only see this kind of inspired product in 2026~27
Live action is just dogshit in general most of the time. There's a reason why shows like Edgerunners and Arcane are superior. Star Wars Clone Wars 2003 and 2008 versions. Video game trailers and shorts have more emotion and depth. Oh they cost too much money to make? Apparently live action movies don't have enough money to pay their CG teams either

such a shame considering studios have been working so damn hard the past few years to break the 'bad video game adaptation' curse (Sonic, Fallout, FNAF, TLOU, Detective Pikachu, animation like Arcane, Castlevania, Mario, Edgerunners) 😢 it's like 10 steps back for the genre
Seems this movie goes back to the time when Videogame movies miss the mark so much and "Hollywood" it up. That is, ignore the source material, and alter it to some Hollywood-sided adaptation. They're imitating the wrong source material, just like the "classic" bad movie adaptations.
Taking a 80hrs worth of material and put into an hour and a half film. Borderlands and other rpgs aside from Final fantasy can’t maintain what people loved. Devil May cry would have been a better action comedy, Gears of War, My god thats off the top of my head for better series to adapt.
Working hard? 😂😂😂😂 They just want that quick cash. Remember sequels always receive less and less money to be created. They DON'T care and will never care; only your money.
At what point did anyone in Hollywood proclaim this? What movies fall under this “break the bad game adaptation curse” umbrella? Cause from everything I’ve seen that comes out of Hollywood… making the most money and who cares if it breaks the adaptation between the source material and what we really get is what seems to really be what’s happening. Hollywood is creatively bankrupt and unless it’s a remake or a comic book movie, they don’t really seem like they’re bursting with great ideas… and that includes game adaptations.
The movie was actually not that bad if you saw it how borderlands started and discarded the part where Lilith wasn't a vault hunter. If not then it wasn't great. The pacing was it's biggest weakness. Unless you knew what they spoke of , the movie was way too fast. Then Tannis......worst portrayal of any movie. The rest was great. Kevin did his best but should have been the Rock.

When I first heard that Kevin Hart was going to be in this, I thought he was going to be the voice of Claptrap. This was horrible casting to begin with.
It’s even worse. apparently the artist who was in charge of all the rigging and animation for Cl4PTR4P wasn’t credited in the film. That’s grounds for a lawsuit! People deserve to be credited for their work.
And the original voice actor left because they refused to start paying him for his work in 1,2 and I think the Pre-Sequel. Claptrap seems to be cursed.

I knew it the moment i watched the trailer when it dropped. I was COMPLETELY baffled by the casting choices, I was like how can you cast almost every single role wrong.

@@jimboh.2654 I don't care of the objectivity of whether they're bad or not, the point is that it was hypocritical at maximum level.
I know everyone likes Kevin Hart but he is pretty much a seal of “low IQ comedy movie” so as soon as I saw him I knew the film was bad before even a trailer was out
Playing all Borderlands games since the first one for thousands of hours and then having this nonsense released after 14~ years is one of the biggest insults I've ever experienced as a fan. Considering I like a lot of the actors involved in this, it was horribly miscast for the sake of publicity. This just puts a big stain on what is otherwise an amazingly fun gaming experience. I'm hoping for Borderlands 4 with all the great gameplay elements from the 3rd, the magic and atmosphere from the 1st and the characters and jokes from the 2nd. A new good Borderlands entry will quickly bury this embarrassment of a film.
I have no hope for the franchise anymore.
Borderlands 3 was rough writing and comedy wise. And with the Tiny Tina spinoff and that other crap game, there is no hope for Borderlands 4, if it even gets made
@@jase276 At least Borderlands 3 had good gameplay and was fun,And felt like Borderlands,Would have been a better story than any of these people who know nothing about games.
BL3 writing was awful, got no trust they will maka a good BL game anymore - even when gameplay was good
Once I saw the tagline “From the producer of Venom” I knew this movie was doom.
True
To be honest Venom wasn't half bad.
And uncharted. Seriously, the producer needs to back off from a game adaptation after this. Oh wait, he's going to produce Legend of Zelda 😢😢
@@mohdamerulaidilbinrazisahm7317 Oh shit, for real? Someone needs to fucking stop this guy
Oh boy, lol insane how these Venom movies were successful, strong Fast and Furious "vibes", sometimes trash becomes popular for whatever reason
When Joe said this reminds me of the old era of video games movies, I felt that. This feels like a film from the 2000s in all the wrong ways, like that Doom movie from 2005.
The moment you said that made me remember the days of going to blockbuster and looking around at the video games while my mom is looking around at the movies!
And even Doom 2005 was decent to watch with funny moments..
Someone uploaded a studio quality copy of it on RUclips, which is the only reason I watched it. At that time, it had been uploaded for only 14 hours and had over 850k views.
Remember. . . . Next up is Bioshock.
Oh... God, no... What next after that? Final Fantasy? Paper Mario? Xenoblade Chronicles? Dragon Quest? Tales of Symphonia? Xenosaga, Chrono Trigger? Mega Man Battle Network? MVC, Ace Attorney? Bayonetta? Street Fighter (again?) The SMT franchise?
You’re gonna get OLD Elizabeth lol
@@FlightX101veeeeeerrrrryyyyy old 😂😂😂
Oh god no..
@@ReSF91 I gotta go and play Bioshock again sometime, maybe Bioshock 2 or Infinite again, before they quickly ruin it, kill it, and leave its corpse behind in the underwater city of Rapture or the sky city from Bioshock Infinite... for their dogshit movie.
Anyone remember that time Randy Pitchford just like, lost a USB stick full of porn at a kid's birthday party?
Squirt porn even. he considered it art. I have no idea how he thought it would sound any better.
Wait what?????
Midevil times but yes magic porn usb
Yep he had a usb with like terrabytes of cam model porn on it lol@@JoshuaJacobs83
Doesn’t sound bad
This movie completely ruins the lore and timeline. How is Tannis so old when she's supposed to be in her late 20s or early 30s? Why is Roland alive? And why is Tiny Tina so much older? This film feels like a slap in the face to us fans!
because hollywood writers like usual think their own original writings would be much better than their video game source materials' writings.
Tiny Tina is a baby compared to these other actresses. suprised they didn't cast a 40 year old for her
Roland is alive in the first game dude
@@Lucios1995 Of course he's alive in the first game, you clueless idiot. It's clear this movie isn't set in the first game since Brick and Mordecai are absent, and Kraig a character from Borderlands 3 is here. Maybe try thinking before you type
@@Lucios1995 Of course he's alive in the first game. It's clear this movie isn't set in the first game since Brick and Mordecai are absent, and krieg a character from Borderlands 2. Maybe try thinking before you type next time.
I'm honestly flabbergasted the movie even "kind of look like Borderlands"...
After seeing Disparu's video, looking at the interviews...
"I want to make a mix of Star Wars, Mad Max, Fifth Element, Barbarella, Escape from New York."
Okay, gonna put in Borderlands in there somewhere?
And he basically said the same thing in two separate interviews...
Watching these PAINFUL interviews, it is no surprise this is what you get...
The director almost seem to, with a desperation, not want to acknowledge that a game can be good at telling stories, or be anything other than "a game".
Even in a very disregarding, nonchalant, demeaning comment "the game is it's own thing."
Disparu hit the nail on the head with this line;
"I'm an aaaartist! I make movies, I can only be inspired by other mooooovies!"
Seriously, there couldn't have been a single ounce hope for this movie.
We're back to shitty Videogame movies again.
Which good ones have we had lol
@jamespaul6315
Sonic pokemon and Mario, even if they aren't perfect are still fun and managed to prove that these projects can be done well. Seems that didn't extend to Borderlands lol

Why the hell would AJ assume the same writing for Borderlands 1 be the same for the movie? Hollywood *DOESN'T CARE ABOUT VIDEOGAMES* unless it's specifically directed/written by someone who actually cares
Probably explains why the Fallout TV show was pretty good, since Bethesda's direct input was used in its production.
@@Exilninja at least the lead actress in the TV series movie looked into the series and played the games to prepare
@@Arcademan09 the director of fallout show is also a fallout fan. Its almost like getting people who like a franchise or are willing to do some reserach makes for a way better product
The moment I saw Kevin Hart cast as Roland I knew this would be horrible
Kevin Hart being cast in the movie without The Rock is already a red flag.
This film will be a great example of not using A.I. to write the whole dialogue, "Make a script for every hard-core movie character line ever said."
Gonna go the way of the HITMAN, Assassin’s Creed, and Max Payne movies I see.
except worse
Hitman with Timothy Olyphant is decently tolerable.
@@davidalmodovar5317ye the sequel tho oof
This looks way worse than any other with Kevin Hart goofing around
I still wonder how they managed to fuck up a Max Payne movie.
Giving Eli Roth a Pg-13 movie based on an M-rated game is like giving Sam Raimi a 2-hour movie with "madness" in the title, but that madness will be 20 minutes long.
Randy "USB Stick" Pitchford must have a thing for older women.
Randy likes the "human auctions" Jamie lee participated in.
I thought it was the exact opposite
At last he isnt p3do like the rest...
Yeah his thing is that he wants them to birth young girls 💀
Randy “Magic Trick” Pitchford
Joe likes bad comedy. Got it. Borderlands 3 was infuriatingly unfunny.
Damn thought we’d never see a rotten tomato meter lower than fant4stic in 2024
Check out the travolta film Gotti. It’s even worse
Master of Disguise was 1% when I last saw it.
Probably the only reason why they made this was to blaspheme Gods name. Shameful
Just wait until the next Fantastic movie comes out People keep asking for those movies and they keep failing every single time Just not an interesting comic group
Was it Fant4stic and not F4ntastic? I genuinely don't remember lmao
Garbage movie. It's just borderlands in name only.
Reminds me a lot of Monster Hunter.
The actress that played Nebula in Gurdians of the Galaxy would've been perfect.
No change in actors would have made this better.
"This is peaked cinema" - Randy "Hide the USB" Pitchford
Grace Randolph's review for this is just terrible.
She literally talked around everything about the film except if it was good at all.
Just licking Cate Blanchetts boots and going "so tasty"
Hollywood needs to get it through their heads that when you are dealing with an IP that comes from anything considered “nerd culture”, it will be held to an extremely high standard by the fans. You CANNOT be lazy. This isn’t 2009. A title alone will not fill seats. You better do your homework and put the work in to make a solid movie.
I knew this was gonna be a POS when they cast an elderly lady as Lilith. "Is this Borderlands or Sex in the City?"
You're an ageist
Cate Blanchet's a great actress, but no acting talent can save an actress from a mediocre script and truly bad casting...
I thought it was a Golden Girls reboot.
@@Chas-OTEyup its script.

Cate Blanchett might have made a good Lilith... 30 years ago.
I LOVE Cate Blanchett. I wanted Hela to suffocate me in ways you can't talk about on RUclips. Every time I see her as Lilith it makes my blood boil. What were they THINKING?
Also Randy Pitchford is a creep and a jerk, so please anyone thinking of seeing this, don't drive to the theater, sail the seas
For sure. Cate as Lilith's mom for some reason? Sure, why not. Cate starting the movie as an older Lillith remembering her past as the movie starts? Amazing. As the actual character? CGI and movie magic is great these days, but come on
She looked so good in that body suit, and that helm was legit fearsome.
Jack black should have either been Scooter or Ellie
He could've been at least Markus...
It's like the makers of this movie never really play any of the boarderlands games.
This movie is the final proof that handsome Jack’s brilliance was an accident.
Or the voice actor did a great work... Idk but handsome jack is one of the best videogame villains out there.
