Thank you so much, indeed! I found it annoying that Panasonic decided removing the hinges was some sort of improvement on the MK5's. If I'm casually playing records, I like to lift the lid without completely removing it. FYI Juno records sells all the parts needed for the hinge assembly. But, no instructions, so this video is so helpful. I've had the parts for a while. It was very rewarding to finally get the hinges installed.
you are very welcome!
Much thanks for the Juno reference "DJ Heather B", didn't know where to order all parts necessary for the installation. . . .. ordered parts, waiting to receive/install! Excited!
This is the most helpful youtube vied I have seen and followed to perfection. Thanks Prof
Thank you for watching. Glad it helped.
JEZUS CHRIST, so much work to install those hinges, thank you! You helped me decide it is not worth it, you can scratch and damage your turntable if you are not super present.
Thank you for this. It let me know what the hell I needed to do with the bracket kit I ordered for a Technics 1200 MK2 table from eBay.
Just as an FYI for anyone who may have a 1200 MK2, I did not have to take the inner part off with the silver screws at the 4:20 mark. I just had to remove the screws that were holding the old brackets in place so I could remove them and put the new ones in. It definitely saved me a few minutes.
Otherwise I have my dust cover completely installed now and working as it should. All thanks to this video. Thanks again!!
For anyone looking to do this to their 1210-M5G, you most likely do not have to take your deck apart. I just installed hinges from KABUSA.COM and they came with 4 self tapping screws. Literally took me all of 10 minutes to do this. Just take your time pulling the rubber pieces on the dustcover where the hinges will screw tighten into place. Mine were real snug. Anyway, self tapping screws is the way to go with this. Easy peasy.
Great vid - many thanks! Incidentally I found that you do not need to replace the hinge mounts: you can easily use the existing ones just by drilling their holes to 3mm. (I notice that some hinge kits do not actually come with the replacement mounts anyway.)
Thank you very much for show us to install the Dust cover ... It’s look beautiful than before dust free
Thank you very much for your video. It’s really helpful especially when there are no instructions with the parts. But, I would not open up a technics just to have a dust cover! Must be another way...
you have the silver screw plates in backwards. the raised part fits in the oval openings to help with alignment.
Great video, well explained and very direct. Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much.
Great video, well explained and very direct
hi thanks for the video. but where can i buy the cover (seen at the video from 1Min10sec) for technics 1210mk2 can you help ?
I am happy you demonstrated. Could you tell me how many mm thickness is your original dustcover? Does it remain open till you need it to place the vinyl record on the platter? I have technics Sl 1210 mk2 . The problem I face is that I purchased from eBay a replica of the original. But even though I put the new hinges it does not remain open midway, it tends to fall down on the faceplate body. You help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance
The original dustcover thickness is about 3.5-4m. It can remain open when I place a record, no issues with that. Thanks for watching my video.
Thank you so much, you sir have made my day =D
Thanks for the video. Can You help me if the same things can be done with Pioneer PLX 1000
can you still remove the lid completely with that hinge set? ie having the choice between just lifting it or removing it. thanks for the vid
Yes you can. Thanks for watching my video.
You see the lid being placed into the hinges towards the end - you remove by pulling back out the same way in reverse
Better to get Decksaver. For good sound, remove dustcover!! Very bad to play with dustcover up/down/on the thing at all. I am not sure about the hinges though. I had to remove the hinges to install my decksavers. However I couldn't remove the female metal plate piece. Do I need to open the 1200 mk2 to get inside to remove it? I figure not good to have in there, even with screws back in place to hold secure. Extra thing to rattle/vibrate/resonate.
I have the MK2's and thinking of buying some dust covers. Is it possible to fully remove the dust covers without having to unscrew anything once they're attached?
YES, you can remove the dustcover just lifting it out.
The hinge mount screws that you used to fix the mounting plate assembly to the turntable looks like they are missing the 2 washers. I couldnt see any washers in the video.
I can't remember for sure now, but I used only the parts came with the kit.
@@dannyvayner OK. The original Technics mounting screws had 2 washers, one was a split washer and one was regular washer. Part numbers XSN314BVS & XWA3BFJK. Thanks for sharing the video though, very useful. Thumbs up!
Thanks so much, this really helped!
Glad it helped. thanks for watching!
What screws did you use to attach the brackets to the internal shell? I have a second hand 1210 mk2 but some of the internal screws are missing. Thanks
+Satta Roots As far as I remember, the bracket set came with the screws. So I'm not sure what exactly they are.
Never mind. I replaced them from an old 1200. It was the screws that hold the case in place that the brackets screw to. Thanks anyway! 😃
thanks for the Information ! I appreciated !
Thanks for watching!
Thanks you!!
Where did you buy the hinges?
Found on eBay several years ago
how much did you pay for each hinge set? also, can you post the exact part?
nevermind, i found it. thanks for the video boss.
I paid around $70 total. Unfortunately I do not have the part #, but I know it was advertised as "Hinge set for Technics SL1200 / SL1210 MK2 M3D MK5 M5G Item is Original and New"
Thanks very much for your video. What parts do i need to order ?
many thanks.
You should search for technics 1200 dustcover hinge set, you might find some on ebay and I did,
i used self tapping screw when i installed mine few years ago (mk5). That was the recommended method. It just took a few seconds. no need to dismount !
Use this kind of screw : www.mcmaster.com/mvb/library/20130218/94060a148l.gif
BUMP
who the fuck would not use self tapping screw lmao
Is it the same for Mk3's?
Pretty much
Seriously? They designed it so I need to disassemble my entire turntable to install them? I assumed they just screwed into the back of the unit. I'll give it a pass!
great video man!! hahahaaa but i'm not going through all that, i'm just gonna crazy glue the hinge to the body of the turntable
and also thanks for the information on buying the hinge set, it's just what i was looking for
MGTOW Ten Commandments
Crazy glue?? Gonna sound bad.
Wow this is unbelievable that you have to invade the entire turntable to add the dust cover hinges...there has to be an easier way
There's no other way, unless you have an older MK2 or a newer one that happens to have the right attachment plates already on. The newer MK3/M3D/MK5/etc have attachment plates with smaller holes, like he shows in the video. The screws won't fit in there. Trust me, I just tried it myself.
@@RamytRamyt Oh my god. Such a tiny detail, but requires a lot of work. I didn't know that I had to remove the attachment plates too. The procedure seems more open to mistakes for the average person who is not very well with assembly/disassembly of home appliances.
Tuna Bilgi Oh, believe me, I know! I’ve made my share of mistakes trying to fix my Turntables ... “wait, why do I have all these extra screws?!?” ... hahaha!
@@RamytRamyt I ordered the hinges, and they arrived today. Wish me luck! :)
