I usually leave a style in a month month-and-a-half. I just can't bring myself to sit in chair for 6 to 8 hours and then take them out two weeks later...

honestly 😭 im not dealing with the same 8 hours and 3 day headaches every 2 weeks
The only time I took out some braids was because they were too tight. And the lady was nice enough to redo it for me because she knew the person she worked with fucked up.
Right ..I braid my own hair so knowing the struggle I will not take down my braids till they are tired 😂

anybody worrying: thats shedding. if you leave braids in for like a month, you have A WHOLE MONTH of shed hair locked in your head. dont panic. also WASH YOUR SCALP WHEN YOU HAVE BRAIDS IN hooo my god. and put some leave in spray and some black castor oil up in there.

Yes. My hair has been in its own braids since August or so. I don't care. Now I have been washing my hair, moistening and rebraiding since that time too. I am now going to put in braids with extensions so I don't have my hair hanging all over the place. Give myself a rest for some months AGAIN. :^D. I'm used to how braids were in the 90's where we left ours in for months(extensions tho). I'm not doing this put in braids then take them out in a week mess, even tho I do my own, still if i'm going to change out the style that quick i'll just braid my hair itself or put on a wig/hair piece. :^P
Dude I literally took out some knotless braids today that I had it in for two months, when I say I freaked out so much about the shedding. I’ve moisturized my braids every other day the whole two months, and I know hair sheds everyday but I can’t help to think that Imma end up baldhead lol

@@pbkk976 Took one section of my hair out of braids to rehydrate and straighten out and i stretched a piece of my hair and it ACTUALLY finally reached down to almost my um...um..."chest part"(wink). I was soo happy. I imagine how the rest of the hair is but I am not doing that just yet. I love this. Letting your hair relax AND, biggest plus, is to NOT stress about your hair then your hair is really going to grow, doing its thing. Loved this. :^D

When I removed my knotless braids after a month I had a lot of shedding and freaked out 🤣🤣🤣🤣

This is why I love to prepoo after a long protective style!! Using oil while it's dry gets all the shed hair before putting any water on my hair!! Then it's already im sections so wash day is always a breeze😊

The amount of shedding he has it the same amount I had from my take down from a cornrow style. At first I was shock to my core I thought the stylist mess me up haha but I had my cornrow style in for a month and a few weeks. I'm glad to know that amount is normal

If you need a new deep conditioner I recommend Ors Hair repair Coconut oil and baobab intense moisture. I always reach for that after a long protective style.

I live by Eden Bodyworks deep conditioners! Also yes I second the frizz comment. I think the preference for "defined curls" is texturist anyways. I try to not be too picky anymore about my hair being frizzy. I think as years go by I'm also not as bothered, and either way, it looks cute!

The deep conditioner I'm currently using is Deep Essentials Rosemary & Mint. It's not super thick but it gives my scalp a tingling feeling and leaves my hair moisturized. Great for dry, itchy scalp.

Girlllll, I used to leave my braids in for up to 2 months and that's because my braider didn't use gels or gunky products, nothing that would hinder my hair. So the aftermath was never as bad as it would be these days with all the unnecessary products people started to use.
The shea moisture manuka honey mask works really really well for me at least.
