Thank you so much! I would have never thought to disconnect the battery, and my new screen works great. This was my first screen replacement, and it went off without a hitch! I got one of the cheaper screens off Amazon and though it looks fine, I think the colors may not be as rich or bright as OEM. I'm just happy the project only cost me
honestly, I wish i'd found this channel years ago. Best videos for iphone screens fixed at home by miles. best advice for issues i'd had before is the Y00 Y000 issue... i had nightmares there as an amateur.5 stars all day
Great video, thank you. When I did my repair, when I was securing the replacement I noticed 2 small white dots on the screen. I opened the phone back up and noticed that the little rectangular shaped box that sits just below the battery shield wasn't quite flush into the gap and so was forcing pressure from the back of the screen, causing it to light up in places. Just shifted this down gently so it would fall into the gap that's there and worked a treat
The box your referring to was possibly a flex cable shield. But it could be the flex cable itself not being pressed in entirely. What I've learned is best to make them connect I use a a wider spudger atop the male end whilst perfectly aligned evenly and level with the female end. Why is because it can totally fit in there wrong, like 50percent of the male end overhanging, and if pressed it confidentaly but incorrectly and sometimes only just unevenly it'll bend the male leads backing which will destroy the leads of the flex cable forever best case scenario a pretty serious glitch. This is particularly important information for someone's who's removed there cables often, or was replacing a part not hardwired by flex cable, and you could end up with a phone that's now got a new problem atop the part or issue you just handled.
Very much appreciate the excellent video - thank you. Can you please add the words "Important: Disconnect battery before this next step" just before reconnecting the screen? I guess I was lucky and my screen was ok even though I didn't disconnect the battery, but explaining how important it was to disconnect the battery after you reconnected the screen was too late for me. Other than that, it was excellent - thank you!
Thanks for providing this detailed replacement guide. Some of the guides on the internets gloss over some of the more critical replacement steps and the need for care to prevent damage to fragile connection cables.
Nice in depth video. Why would I need to remove all those components if I just want to replace the screen? Couldn't I just disconnect the screen and install the replacement?
i replaced my cracked screen and when i turned it on the apple screen would load for a long time. i tried turning it off but it just kept trying to reload. so i waited and it finally turned off. thinking that it was the camera cable. i checked it and it wasnt connected properly. so i disconnected power and connected camera cable and tried over again but now the screen wont come on. i put the old screen back on but it wont work either.... another to add is my screen has been broken for awhile and i used the front camera today but in the later part of the day it stopped so i decided to go ahead and change the screen since i had time....
These screws are so easy to ‘round’ a plastic bag saved me I placed it over the screw and the bag seemed to fill in the gap I hope it works for you as I didn’t have a balloon like I have read saved others
Really helpful video. I prefer when the camera looks down from rite above what your working on. Just get a better view that way but i understand that can be awkward aswel so faur enuf Thanks
Great video Thank you, I would just like to add not much look with the gasket , Here is what happens when a gasket is not placed on well,When your phone gets warm you could find the top half of the phone in the middle could lift slightly , I use a method`Where once the gasket and touch screen has been fitted and the bottom screws are replaced,I then warm the phone up with hair dryer then place heavy books on top and leave for 30 minutes, this seems to give an overall good even pressure to the adhesive .Never had issue with my phones lifting slightly later on, But nice camera work you showed great close ups where needed,
Your videos help a lot since I tend to fix my friends and family's devices a lot. Had to recently replace my mother-in-law's iPad Pro screen but there weren't any videos about it so it was a little stressful. Luckily it turned out good since the replacement screen was so expensive, lol. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos.
I've got these weird blue vertical lines on my display after I've installed the screen... they fade in after a few seconds, and do NOT go away... did I do something wrong? did I get a defective screen?
The Wedge best having a quick test of the display before going to the trouble of fitting it fully. Could have been damaged during postage or could have been damaged during the install. Maybe remove the screen again and check all the connections and cables for damage?
Thank you for the video! Helped me with replacing the screen on my phone in no time. The instructions are great and to be fair that is all you really need!
Thanks very much, followed it step by step while i did the job! its perfect :-) great tips you give as it helped me avoid damage! i appreciate your vid!
It seems impossible to unscrew the tri-point and phillips screws inside the phone. I'm using the tool kit that comes with the replacement screen bought over Ebay. do i need to buy a proper screwdrivers?
I'm running into the same problem right now. I got a cheap kit that seemed to have good reviews, but the tri screwdriver was all jacked up. I was able to get out a few of them, but the others won't come. I just bought a real driver kit on Amazon and paid for one day shipping out of desperation.
Done! Thanks. The guide is great!!! Issues I had included a couple of damaged screw heads that I had to loosen up with a sharp tool. Worked, but was tight to get really stuck!
when i tried to refit the screen connetor cover plate it would not fit !! the camera above prevents it moving up enough, it was in the correct position so that is a mystery
When you're closing the phone back up again, don't slot the plastic clips at the top in and then move to the bottom of the phone and start clipping in from the bottom. If you do you'll break the screen at the top where the speaker is. Instead, clip it in at the top then gently work it down from the top until you reach the bottom.
This is my first time using any heating element on a cell phone. Besides burning, is there anything that I should be aware of? Could I possibly warp the ribbon cable if I keep the blow dryer in the same spot too long? Is it okay use the blow dryer directly on the cables or should I warm it from the outside of the phone? Thanks
I got an iphone 7 model number a1660. Icloud unlocked but apparently this model number has a recall. Talked to apple customer support to see if phone was still covered under recall. Turns out I still have a year to get this phone in. My problem is that the screen is cracked and they are going to try and charge me $150. From doing a little research it seems they will notice if you have a "3rd party screen" on your iphone if i tried replacing it myself. Do you think i can get away with installing an actual replacement screen from an identical model that isn't cracked? Thanks :)
Thanks for warning me before tightening the screw. Realise some viewerd may follow on as you do yours hence cautioning prior would help. Have now ripped the ribbon from tightening the home button lost touch id and fingerprint; thanks.
Thank you for posting this video sir. I played/paused it the whole time replacing the screen on my iPhone 7. Very detailed and it helped a lot and saved me a bunch of $. Thank you again. I have subscribed to your channel.
This is the best shot, most thorough video on the net for replacing the iphone screen!.. Thanks for sharing. Only thing for me was my kit didnt come with a new gasket. Ohh well.. everything worked great over here thanks!
Hi I tried to replace the screen but connected the lcd screen wire without taking out the battery cable . Now i cant open it. What is broken is it lcd screen, the mobile or the battery????
Excellent in depth and clearly presented. I researched many videos on this and definitely the best out there. I would suggest though re the ear piece/proximity cable: brighter picture needed. Thank you very much!
great guide! btw a question have you ever encounter a bright spot under LCD were the bottom flex cables goes. where u put the metal place and the 4 tri screws. i read alot of ppl had encounter that. but how is ur experience with it. any solutions?
Hello, I appreciate this video, thank you! My iPhone 7 has a cracked screen, I plan on getting a DIY kit, but I'm wondering if I should get with LCD or just the glass. What do you recommend?
I would reccomend an entire new screen as taking just the glass off can be a lot of work and you may end up damaging the lcd whilst removing the old glass, I've done that before on an iPad, they are different products, but removing just the glass is pretty much the same thing. I hope this helps
I replaced my iPhone 7 Plus screen with a iPhone 8 Plus NEW screen. After completing it, the screen powers on, but when the apple logo appears with the white background it will reboot and repeat. It seems as if it can not pass that point of booting up. When I connect the iPhone to Windows computer for itunes. And it shows "Connect to Itunes" it will stay on that and not reboot. It reboots ONLY when it gets to the apple logo with white background. I tried updating it via ITUNES and whole process goes smoothly. But when it gets to that same apple logo with white background while showing progress bar below logo it will reboot after a few seconds than update/restore fails and iphone goes back to "Connect to itunes". Can anyone help PLZ??? I'm not a newbie to repairing but 1st time this has happened
Soo.. my phone doesn't start.. There are two reasons: or it's because I don't have the adhesive thing "gasket" and I put it back in place without it. Or it's because I didn't pull off the battery cable thing you said was dangerous before placing the other cables. I am panicking please respond idk what to do, is my phone dead or do I have to buy the adhesive thing?? You said the battery plugged was dangerous once I put it in place ...
Got all the way to the point of pushing the screen back into place but whenever i push the bottom and right side in, the lcd slowly goes out and then it just says black until i pull that corner out again.
Successful repair, thank you! I also want to learn that cool screw trick where you position it with the side of your hand that's actually holding the part in place. :)
for the home button bracket, what are the screws called and where can I buy spares mine have all stripped so I'm struggling to take them out to replace my screen ugh
I changed my iphone 7 screen for a new one because the screen freaked out. I followed the video step by step and now the corners of the screen dosent respond when I touch it only the middle part of the screen responds . HELP!!!!!!!!!!
Things you will need new screen, good tools. things you won't need sausage fingers and crap eyesight. Struggled with this but eventually done it thanks to your help.
My screen turns on and then shows the apple sign and turns off... it wasn’t doing this before... only after I fitted the new screen... what is wrong with it?
as a current itech when i order iPhone 7 screens they already come with the thermal plate in place. the issue i come across often is that the display cables are not properly aligned underneath the plate. Not sure if this is a quality control issue but its rather bothersome as this causes pressure on the screen which in turn causes the bright spots others are mentioning. what is your suggestion? take the plate off? or send it back for rma? I've had issues in the past with submitting a RMA only to be told its something that i am causing. what are your thoughts?
It depends, submitting and RMA that is accepted means a free repair/replacement, but if they reject it they could void your warranty, small chance but its a risky one, so the choice is yours really, it depends how much it is bothering you.
ruby. I put them on top of a page. And label the set of screws. Which one goes where. Would be better to have a small box where you can organize screws so you don't lose them. Since I put them on top of a paper, they can easily move around and get lost.

Excellent step by step guide. I followed this carefully and replaced the cracked screen on my wife's i-phone. Now she loves me even more!
Thank you very much: because of the quality of your instructions, i was able to do it all. Not as fast as you though...;)
Thank you for such detail and not skipping any steps! This got me through the full re-installation of my cracked screen and I am certainly no techy :D
this is gonna be really helpful im gonna fix my phone

super glad i managed to replace my screen without any damage. touch id works like usual :)
Where did you get the screen
Very detailed and the close up uncut footage is really helpful. I hate ifix it videos edited rushed rubbish! Thanks 🤘😎
very good and explicit , wished id watched your version before attempting new screen, thanks, john.
Just replaced the screen, thank you for your time sir! It worked wonderful, big thumbs up!
Just repleced my daughters screen .Very informative video .Cheers pal that was brilliant
I just did my iPhone 7 both screen and battery, all working good.... that’s for the awesome detailed video
Replacing LCDs is like operating a surgery, hats off to the technician genius!
He fucked the gasket when he was replacing it.
Nice in depth video. Why would I need to remove all those components if I just want to replace the screen? Couldn't I just disconnect the screen and install the replacement?

Great camera work, thanks for an awesome video, very helpful. I used to replace my battery....
iPhone 7: All went well. Thanks for the thorough instructions! Watching your hand work was amazing. (Do you play guitar?)
These screws are so easy to ‘round’ a plastic bag saved me I placed it over the screw and the bag seemed to fill in the gap I hope it works for you as I didn’t have a balloon like I have read saved others
This Video was a perfect walk through. It got me through the install...thank you

Great tear down 👌 I particularly like how you show reassembly. Thanks for posting these!
Excellent video the only departure was I had different size screws for the logic board retainer and the camera retainer.
I've got these weird blue vertical lines on my display after I've installed the screen... they fade in after a few seconds, and do NOT go away... did I do something wrong? did I get a defective screen?

I’m having an issue with my home button after replacing the screen it doesn’t work to close apps but works with Touch ID.
Thank you for the video! Helped me with replacing the screen on my phone in no time. The instructions are great and to be fair that is all you really need!
Thanks very much, followed it step by step while i did the job! its perfect :-) great tips you give as it helped me avoid damage! i appreciate your vid!
I saw that home button screw is shorter than the other three screws. Is it true?
It seems impossible to unscrew the tri-point and phillips screws inside the phone. I'm using the tool kit that comes with the replacement screen bought over Ebay. do i need to buy a proper screwdrivers?
I'm running into the same problem right now. I got a cheap kit that seemed to have good reviews, but the tri screwdriver was all jacked up. I was able to get out a few of them, but the others won't come. I just bought a real driver kit on Amazon and paid for one day shipping out of desperation.
Did it work tho
Good detailed instruction. It took over an hour (allow plenty of time). Thank you. That certainly saved me some money.
Hi. Just followed your instructions and it worked fine first time. Many thanks
Great guide. I managed to replace my screen due to this tutorial. Thanks!
Done! Thanks. The guide is great!!!
Issues I had included a couple of damaged screw heads that I had to loosen up with a sharp tool. Worked, but was tight to get really stuck!
How did you do it
What do you mean? :-) I followed the film, it’s a little under pressure work and takes really time like three-four hours. But take your time.
Thanks. Easiest tutorial on youtube to follow🖒. Only problem is the home button not working so I have to use the digital one.
Brilliant video, wouldn’t have been able to do it without watching this! Keep up the good work!
when i tried to refit the screen connetor cover plate it would not fit !! the camera above prevents it moving up enough, it was in the correct position so that is a mystery
Followed this guide exactly and worked perfectly. thank you for the excellent guide

which is the best way to dig out the ambient light filter and transfer it to the new phone?
Does the fingerprint and home button work after changing the display?

Very helpful!
i wish this video would help except the fact that adding tape simply will not work for me to suction my screen off is there another thing i could do?
Is it possible to change out the home button on iPhone 7? Or is it only a Apple thing to do?
Thanks for warning me before tightening the screw. Realise some viewerd may follow on as you do yours hence cautioning prior would help. Have now ripped the ribbon from tightening the home button lost touch id and fingerprint; thanks.

Does the repairing kit includes the screen gasket?
This is the best shot, most thorough video on the net for replacing the iphone screen!.. Thanks for sharing. Only thing for me was my kit didnt come with a new gasket. Ohh well.. everything worked great over here thanks!
Can I forego the gasket? I don't care if its water resistant but will the screen still stick to the phone?
Hi
I tried to replace the screen but connected the lcd screen wire without taking out the battery cable . Now i cant open it.
What is broken is it lcd screen, the mobile or the battery????
კარგი ინსტრუქციაა, მივყევი და ყველაფერი გამომივიდა
hi~ Great video thank you, quick question
what if we dont have that "gasket" sticker thing in the end when wanting to put the new screen back on?
Your phone will no longer be water proof.
Thank you for this video!!!
does anyone know where I could get the tools?
Excellent in depth and clearly presented. I researched many videos on this and definitely the best out there. I would suggest though re the ear piece/proximity cable: brighter picture needed. Thank you very much!
Any tips on loosen tough tri wing screws, the one located over the battery

Is there a way to repair the home button flex touch cable? I cut it by accident while prying the screen off - feck!!
Never mind - stupid me now sees that it comes with the new/replacement screen!!
Soo.. my phone doesn't start.. There are two reasons: or it's because I don't have the adhesive thing "gasket" and I put it back in place without it. Diane Waddington yeah disconnecting the battery first is important. But the gasket is nothing but adhessive to help water resistance.
You fried the backlight filter or worse, the image filter.
You need a logic board repair. Send it to iPad Rehab.
Why my iphone 6s plus after changing lcd by technician comes always high temperature
Got all the way to the point of pushing the screen back into place but whenever i push the bottom and right side in, the lcd slowly goes out and then it just says black until i pull that corner out again.
hey after changing the display are we able to use 3d touch on it plz let me no
Successful repair, thank you! I also want to learn that cool screw trick where you position it with the side of your hand that's actually holding the part in place. :)
Very good video, objective and very well explained. Thank you very much
Excellent video. Only thing I would add is you could use more heat gun for adhered parts.
Hi when opening iphone 7 I accidentally ripped the bands on the left
Does it matter since the new screen has new bands?
for the home button bracket, what are the screws called and where can I buy spares mine have all stripped so I'm struggling to take them out to replace my screen ugh
Asia Ho The same happened to me I put a plastic bag over the screen and it workedVery frustrating as the screws are so tiny
Thank you so much
Does anyone know if he was using Y00 screwdriver or Y000?
Hi, the screewdrivers for iphone 7 are the same as for the rest of iphone 4,5 and 6 or we need a new one?
yes ,different : )
Sir, you just saved me £80 thank you!
This video was so helpful. I prob won't need it again, but I'm subscribing anyways!
Very good explanation of what to do !👍
Thank you!!!!!! The only video that was actually helpful
I changed my iphone 7 screen for a new one because the screen freaked out. I followed the video step by step and now the corners of the screen dosent respond when I touch it only the middle part of the screen responds . HELP!!!!!!!!!!
Things you will need
new screen, good tools.
things you won't need sausage fingers and crap eyesight.
It depends, submitting and RMA that is accepted means a free repair/replacement, but if they reject it they could void your warranty, small chance but its a risky one, so the choice is yours really, it depends how much it is bothering you.
Thank you. I don't always fix iPhone 7 devices so the home button always fools with my mind. Good video.
what happens if you dont replace the gasket??
fabian mercado you lose the ip67 rated waterproof seal
thank you very much
Where are you selling the gasket alignment tool?
Amazing!!! Thank you so much!!! You saved my year!!
Mine works fine except the home button wont go in, does anyone know what I did wrong?
where do you put the screws after you remove them? i dont wanna loose or mix them up
ruby. I put them on top of a page. And label the set of screws. Which one goes where. Would be better to have a small box where you can organize screws so you don't lose them. Since I put them on top of a paper, they can easily move around and get lost.
Salis Salman I use the paper method but also with tape
What the heck is a tri star? I don't have anything like that in my precision repair kit.
It's called a Y000 screw driver.
hi have my phone half apart, new screen does not have a y000 driver wtf.....help
Buy one from Amazon
you need buy the kit off amazon
Very informative helped me thank you
