    If the rental prices go down me and my family moving there asap we wanna be close to the hot spots but not directly in the city

    • @LIVING_IN_ARIZONA
      @LIVING_IN_ARIZONA  Год назад

      Yeah hopefully the rent will go down but not looking like that's going to happen any time soon. There are tons of cities around the downtown area like Glendale, Peoria, Tolleson, Ahwatukee, and Avondale that have cheaper rental rates if you wanna look in those areas. That way you can be close to the downtown area without the downtown prices 😁

      Yeah there are lots of types of regular apartments here in downtown. I'd recommend using this site to check out options and find something that might be a good fit for what you are looking for www.apartments.com/

    Having spent most of my life in Phoenix but also having lived in Montreal and Chicago, I can safely say that the bang for the buck in downtown Phoenix is very underwhelming. And the couple of times I went to First Fridays must have been unusual, because all I noticed was bad parking, bad art, bad music, and some pretty strange people. People should know, too, that just about anything worth doing in downtown Phoenix is gonna cost ya a pretty penny if you don't want to be stepping over homeless people on the sidewalk to get there. It seems to be a downtown without a soul. Phoenix downtown had one once, but I think it was sold around the time they started having one-way streets LOL.

      First Fridays has changed so much over the years from when it was first starting out. It definitely is a lot more busy and lots more traffic. Downtown can certainly be more expensive like many other cities in the US. Are you from the downtown Phoenix area?

      @@LIVING_IN_ARIZONA Greetings! Both times I went to First Fridays, I was coming from the western suburbs. The first time, I went there intentionally with a friend. The second time, I just happened to be there for a meeting nearby. Both times, though, it was extremely crowded, so I don't know how much more crowded it could possibly get. Unless the quality (as I define "quality," anyway) of it has changed significantly (better art, better music, less of a freak show), I just wouldn't have any interest in going again. Fine for those who like it, though.
      I compare what we have here to what Montreal has, and I realize the effect of our city government's priorities on our "culture." Phoenix destroyed its original, walkable, downtown and replaced it with a maze of one-way streets, courthouses, office buildings, and monuments to banks and insurance companies... and now it is trying to squeeze some condos in here and there.
      Montreal (both city proper and metro area) has the same size population as Phoenix. Its downtown area is extremely accessible from anywhere in the metropilitatan area by subway (called "the Metro"), public and private art is everywhere, the architecture is incredible, there are free music festivals and art exhibitions constantly, and literally dancing in the street. Under the city is "the Underground City" as well, miles and miles of underground shopping malls and subway stations (all started in the 1960's). Chicago has similar cultural amenities and easy access to downtown, though it has a larger population and a less comfortable public transit system.
      Price-wise, the cost of living in Chicago and Montreal is comparable to here. For many decades (at least since the 1970's) all Phoenix has thought it had to sell was sunshine and moderate winter temperatures - and the evidence is all around us. Although some prices may be a little higher in those cities, those increases are offset by things like public transit, free amenities, and other lower costs. Phoenix could learn a lot from those cities.
      For an illustration of the point I'm trying to make, I recommend the RUclips video: "The Montreal Metro is a Masterpiece." There are tons of videos about Montreal's and Chicago's vibrant city life, though, so check some of those out, too.

    Calling a 1 BR/2BA condo for $550K+ affordable is wild baby 😂

    • @LIVING_IN_ARIZONA
      @LIVING_IN_ARIZONA  9 месяцев назад +1

      It's all relative to market and location, but you're right. Just because from Cali or the East Coast think the prices here are really lower doesn't mean us who live here feel the same. Market has been growing and changing so much the past few years.

      @@LIVING_IN_ARIZONA I hear ya. But for that price I could get a condo in West Loop Chicago! And no shade to Phoenix, which I truly love so much and wanna move there so bad, but West Loop is better than y’all downtown. I guess you paying for that nice weather. Which eludes to location like you pointed to earlier. And that house for $925K? Wowzers. Yeah I see why Chicago is the best city in America 🇺🇸 haha.
