I fixed my LG washer thanks to you . It was kind of fun . My washer rusted so bad I got pissed and sold it but there is a lawsuit in the works. I really liked that washer per the wife
Great information! On my washer, I figured out that the bolt holding plate down had come unscrewed. A 10mm socket was all I needed to secure it. If it does back out again, I will put some Locktite on it.
Thanks for this! I couldn't figure out what the heck I was missing. I would love to have a "little chat" with the person that made this out of plastic....
Ordered a new plate, pulled the old one off but the metal insert separated and is stuck on the shaft, can’t get it off to replace with the new agitator. Suggestions on how to get the old metal off to install the new? Pliers and trying to pry on the nut below doesn’t work. May try to cut it with a grinder at risk of the splines underneath 🤓
We found these parts on amazon. Here are the links to the pulsator assembly and the hub cap. If you catch it soon enough this is the fix but if you let it go you'll have to replace the inner tub hub and clutch housing costing about as much as the washers worth. Also, there's a bulletin to not reuse the cap after it's been removed.
Thanks so much for the video! I didn’t change the agitator, but I changed the bolt on it. It was good for 2 days and came off again. Any thoughts on what it can be??
Hey Hi Thanks for the wonderful video. I just had a quick query what is the circular part which is actually holding the motor and the connector for pulsator called . The one in my machine has broken and I want to find a replacement but don't know what's it called
Check your washer to see if you have a Hose Clamp or Glue on the inbound side of the discharge pump. If so, that is not a factory connection. There is not supposed to be any Glue or Hose Clamps on anything according to LG. Most of the LG washers had to be reconditioned, then sold as new. The hose is 2 inches too short and the travel of the tank, to offset a lopsided load, will one day rip that hose off. I repaced 12" of drywall in my washroom. Contact the FTC.
I'm surprised the teeth on a splined wheel hub can wear out so completely. But I've come to learn LG washers and dryers are very poorly engineered. Most likely the plastic hub is too soft a plastic. LG is known to keep the same pathetic design year after year. But thanks for the video. It's good to know about this issue and watch for it. I wonder if there is a way to prevent so much movement and wear on the hub? I think I will take another poster's advice and buy a Speed Queen instead of LG next time.
Great info! Bought the new part, but it doesn't go in "flush" like yours did. As soon as I put it down, it locked in place and just does the tiny movement, like it's supposed to. But I can't even pull it back out to try and get it flush, it's incredibly stuck! Do you think the agitator plate is okay not to fit all the way down. I guess it sticks up a few millimeters.
Glad it helped. If its not sitting all the way on the splines you may get clothes trapped under it. It also won't properly tighten down if its not all the way on the hub.
So how do I now if this is the issue or if it the coupling? Mine just came off in the wash for first time? Bi can move it it all around when I’m out it back on
Maybe you can help me out. I replace the clutch and bearing assembly housing on mine and when I put the pulsator back on, whenever I tightened the bolt down that holds the pulsator onto the shaft, if I tighten it good and snug like you did, it is too tight and will not spin well. I did put a washer under it
I need to replace this piece and piece below it - the spines are ruined on both ends. Machine is less than 2 years old - is the repair going to last less than 2 years also? Worth the repair costs. Seeing that it involves the lower piece too, I am looking at having it done.
We have replaced the clutch housing on our washer. It is a pretty easy repair. The reason we had to do the repair was that bearings went out in the clutch. Ours has been working great since 2018 and we saved a lot of money doing the repair. I would check the splines real well if the plate splines went bad you may have some buildup in the shaft splines, making it appear to have no splines. amzn.to/2O3ppYZ Video of clutch repair ruclips.net/video/8NMtJb-ha_s/видео.html
My 7-year-old LG WT1201CW tub and pulsator look just like the ones in this video. My pulsator came loose. Lifted out easily. Noticed plastic splines worn down about halfway. Tried tightening pulsator back down, with no effect. Unscrewed the bolt from the pulsator, noted bottom 1/8" had no threads, end was not quite flat but instead slightly irregularly tilted. Looked like it would need a nut at least 1/4" deep for it to grab securely. Tried screwing it into top of the metal lower post with splines, simulating screwing the pulsator down, and found the screw did not enter. On closer inspection, saw that the entry hole at top of metal splined post was only about 3/16" deep, no side threads, shallowly cone-shaped, with cone angle similar to that of the slope at bottom of tightening screw. No way was screwing the pulsator down going to attach it to the post below. So, what's going on here?
The shaft sounds like it has some damage and the clutch will likely need replaced. We had to change ours on our machine also at another time. ruclips.net/video/8NMtJb-ha_s/видео.html
It holds the agitator to the splined shaft. The hub material is a powder metal material and the shaft is steel. Over time the back and forth and chemicals cause the splines to wear out and then it works itself free.
Below the agitator was a slight trough. The Airman would was there fatigues and must of not checked there pockets 18-20 year olds . Plus the fatigue pants had a deep pocket and felt like nothing was in there , 100s of quarters oh my gosh
That's not an agitator, it's the hub cap from a '64 Studebaker. The one in my LG WT1101CW broke loose; I ordered a replacement from LG, it didn't fit. I went to a furniture and appliance store and bought a Speed Queen model AWN632SP116TW01, product code TC5000WN. The Speed Queen was rather expensive, but it is built to last 25 years (take a look at the machines at your nearest coin laundry, top loaders will be either SQ or the Huebsch or IPSO machines made by the same company, mechanically identical to the SQ). The Speed Queen gets my grimiest jeans really clean, and it takes less than a half-hour to run a normal load. The LG cycle was most accurately timed with a calendar.
They don't need to be super tight, once it is snugged down the lock washer will retain it in place. The hardest part is holding everything from spinning. Some people use a small impact driver like this - amzn.to/36j8ZEI - but if you do don't hammer on it to much, just run it up and let it hit a few times.
do they really clean without the agitator? esp jeans? I see some videos and it seems that clothes dosent really move! Im kind of worried to buy one and I grow up with GE. THANKS :)
We haven't had any issues with ours. We have had ours for years and haven't had any problems with it not cleaning clothes. Thanks for watching! Please like and subscribe!
The issue I have is somehow this system knots up the clothes which need to be untangled before being put into the dryer. Not sure if there are any good washers out there any longer. LG is not a good brand.
No, but it is hard on the cuffs and collars, and when you're starting a load and want to know how long 'til the end of the cycle, the easy thing is to mark your calendar. And be sure to plan on a much higher water bill because these things fill brim-full, drain, and repeat to balance the load. Find a nice older-model (2017 or earlier) Speed Queen,
My LG Smart Drum washer w/inverter direct drive (Model WT1101CW) just ate a part of my mattress cover. I removed the bolt holding the pulsation plate but it's stuck and I can't get it open. Any suggestions??
When I was in the USAF I was in civil engineers . Well I worked in a lot of training barracks One day the plumber who was also there working . He says here go get us coffee and donuts for break . He handed me a handful of shiny quarters. He showed me where he got it the agitator had an Allen wrench on top . Take it out. Next take a piece of wood raise up on the agitator and give it a light rap on the wood . Bonk agitator is off pick it up About 50 to 80 quarters dimes nickels . Pop the agitator back on . It was like having a money machine no one could see or hear all that money .
Our LG washer seems to have a wider drive shaft that none of the replacement part numbers for the agitator are fitting on. Is this something you have seen or have a recommendation on how to find the correct part (LG and multiple appliance part distributors have not been able to help). Thanks.
Make sure the metal insert from the bottom of the agitator plate is not still on the shaft. This was the case when I disassembled mine. I was lucky and the insert pulled off the shaft easily. I have seen videos where the metal insert is stuck on the shaft and is difficult to remove.
HeavyMetalMechanic80 Thank you! This ended up being the issue. Once the metal insert came off (which wasn’t easy), the replacement part went right on. Really appreciate you taking the time to respond.
The same thing happened to me, but I noticed the splines on the clutch assembly shaft also looked a little blunted. So my question is is this normal wear and tear? Or something deeper, like the clutch is busted? Cause if it's the latter, won't the new pulsator just get ground down again?
Yes if the splines are damaged on your shaft it will lead to another failure. Minimal wear shouldn't be a big deal. This washing machine had the clutch replaced a year before this repair. Thanks for watching! Please like and subscribe!
You can purchase a new bolt would be the best bet. Those bolts have a external tapered lock washer that sometimes gets stuck in place and will need tapped out from the bottom.
My model is WT1101CW. After taking off the center screw, it still seems the pulsator is attached by something underneath. It doesn't slip right off. Do you know if my model has other things holding it in place?
I will say some of these get pretty corroded. The best thing to do would be to look at a parts diagram like this www.appliancepartspros.com/tub-parts-parts-for-lg-wt1101cw.html. From what I can see the bolt is the only item retaining the plate.
On ours the teeth on the inside of the pulsator plate were gone and this allowed us to spin it freely. I would assume that this is the same for your washer since you can spin it freely.
I would say the best thing to do is look up the needed parts for your model on websites like AppliancePartsPros.com This is where we have found specified parts for our machine. Thanks for watching! Hope this helps!
Same thing happened to me. The agitator plate came off. The problem was that the actual shaft broke. The small top portion of the shaft which engages to the agitator and makes it turn cracked from the rest of the clutch assembly and was still attached to the agitator held by the 10 mm screw. Did this happen to anyone else?
@@ScamsGarage The shaft looks like new. It has no corrosion whatsoever. It looks like a bad fabrication. They are molded at high temperatures similar to forging, and this particular one must have been cooled down too fast so that internal cracks formed.
Did you use the new bolt? If it was used the bolt comes from the factory with blue Loctite and it should have a serrated lock washer on the bolt. We just grab the tub to hold it and then use a 3/8 ratchet to tighten the bolt. Also, check the splines on the shaft coming out of the clutch if they are worn it will never stay tight.
If you have an impact use it until it doesnt tighten anymore your not gonna get it tight enough with a rachet this guy makes it look like you just have to barely tighten it his will be flying off in no time hope this helps
The agitator is held on by a bolt which is underneath the cap in the middle. If this is already removed then it could mean that it has a lot of grime build under it holding it down.
My LG washer pulsator part is #5844EA1003. I am unable to locate this number anywhere, probably because I bought my machine in 2011. Do you think the replacement part would be the 5845EA1003B pulsator? My issue is exactly what you showed in the video.
Hello Julie the only difference it looks like in the part numbers is the "B" at the end typically those are just revision numbers. You should be fine with a the same part as we installed since it is the same model. LG 5845EA1003B PULSATOR ASSEMBLY- amzn.to/2ou2p8J

We will do some looking to see what we can find for that!

My agitator plate has let go but there are still some spines inside -it is not smooth. Presumably they have worn down enough?
Great video! Same here but new part is floating off. Assuming the female hollow thread isn’t catching? Do you have or know where I can get that part?
Noticed the bolt is not tightening when applying the new agitator. Maybe I need to push down on the agitator more before tightening
top vid M8, by Pulsator is completely rounded, could that also be the reason for recent washing finishing up dirty?
I just had this problem. Tightened the old plate down a couple times before digging around to learn this was the problem.

No it is all one molded piece into the plate.
I've seen plastic gears sold on Amazon. They have outside teeth and inside teeth.
Maybe it's for a different model.
Maybe you can help me out. I replace the clutch and bearing assembly housing on mine and when I put the pulsator back on, whenever I tightened the bolt down that holds the pulsator onto the shaft, if I tighten it good and snug like you did, it is too tight and will not spin well.

Tried tightening pulsator back down, with no effect. Unscrewed the bolt from the pulsator, noted bottom 1/8" had no threads, end was not quite flat but instead slightly irregularly tilted.

Do you have the washer part number? The one the goes on before the agitator?
Does the bolt not tighten up on the Agitator. Being a machinist there should be a never fail solution.

So how tight is that bolt supposed to go? Seems like mine doesn't get real tight...
They don't need to be super tight, once it is snugged down the lock washer will retain it in place. The hardest part is holding everything from spinning. Some people use a small impact driver like this - amzn.to/36j8ZEI - but if you do don't hammer on it to much, just run it up and let it hit a few times.

I have same washer but my makes a very squishy noise n doesn't squeeze the clothes very well ..should o get a new one or I can repair..
It's really hard to diagnose that from what you are saying. There could be multipleissues causing this.

The bolt is connected to the agitator plate when I removed it. So if I put the new agitator plate on there is no bolt to slide into. Now what?
You can purchase a new bolt would be the best bet. Those bolts have a external tapered lock washer that sometimes gets stuck in place and will need tapped out from the bottom.

Got an LG washer from my brother, same problem
Thanks for watching! Glad to help!
My model is WT1101CW. After taking off the center screw, it still seems the pulsator is attached by something underneath. It doesn't slip right off. Do you know if my model has other things holding it in place?
I will say some of these get pretty corroded. The best thing to do would be to look at a parts diagram like this
www.appliancepartspros.com/tub-parts-parts-for-lg-wt1101cw.html.
From what I can see the bolt is the only item retaining the plate.
What if the shaft of the motor is also stripped?
You would need a new motor to fix that one.
My washer is not washing it does everything else but washing, it looks like its trying but doesn't move. And I can turn it with my hand easily.
On ours the teeth on the inside of the pulsator plate were gone and this allowed us to spin it freely. I would assume that this is the same for your washer since you can spin it freely.
Thanks this really helped :)
Glad it helped!
Does it matter what lg machine it is
I would say the best thing to do is look up the needed parts for your model on websites like AppliancePartsPros.com
This is where we have found specified parts for our machine.
Thanks for watching! Hope this helps!
Thank you!

Your one of the best yt u deserved more subs
Thank you Eileen!!
I could see this happening with the amount of corrosion under the plate.
@@ScamsGarage The shaft looks like new. It has no corrosion whatsoever. It looks like a bad fabrication. They are molded at high temperatures similar to forging, and this particular one must have been cooled down too fast so that internal cracks formed.
Thank you bro

How do I know when it is tightened enough. The new one came loose.
The real problem was the one parts place wanted me too wait 6 to 8 weeks
Good job!

my agitator is stuck , it doesn't just lift off ?
The agitator is held on by a bolt which is underneath the cap in the middle. If this is already removed then it could mean that it has a lot of grime build under it holding it down.
@@ScamsGarage mine is stuck too. Tried using a come along to pull it off.. No luck. Need to clean mold underneath it
@@ScamsGarage how do get it loose
@Peter d It sounds like you got a lot of build up underneath the plate.
@Rod And Deanna Terwilliger All you need to do is take the center cap off and grab the plate then use a ratchet on the bolt.
I want the old one pls
My LG washer pulsator part is #5844EA1003. I am unable to locate this number anywhere, probably because I bought my machine in 2011. Do you think the replacement part would be the 5845EA1003B pulsator? My issue is exactly what you showed in the video.
p.s. ~ my washer is also WT4801CW
Hello Julie the only difference it looks like in the part numbers is the "B" at the end typically those are just revision numbers. You should be fine with a the same part as we installed since it is the same model. LG 5845EA1003B PULSATOR ASSEMBLY- amzn.to/2ou2p8J
I have a same problem with my washing machine The reference no: #5844FA1447.
LG 9505

I am not sure if this pulsator fits your WT1501CW since our is a WT4801CW. I will do more research and get back with you!

When trying to take my washer plate off my whole assembly moves even though I’m holding on to it 🤦🏽♂️
A battery powered impact works great for this.
