Thank you Budo Brothers for featuring Seki Sensei again! I was hoping you would do a collab featuring Jo techniques, pretty awesome. The Jo is such a versatile and practical weapon for self defense, and Sensei has some incredible skills with it.
Another great video with Seki-sensei! Thank you! His smoothness really shines with his jo movements. With katanas, he is impressive, but with the motions required to make the staff flow as it should, he really becomes a ghost with some of his transitions. He is such a master 😮
0:36 From what I gathered shaku is almost 1 foot in length right? I’m 6ft 3” and have exactly size 12 foot so that’s handy for me whenever I’m mentally measuring anything in feet lol I’m also wondering if that shorter one could be used a bit like a kali stick but gripped further up so the bit at the back of your hand could be used as a big hook or if it’s too long for that
In these techniques, you're not just swinging wildly hoping to hit. You're aiming with the Jo and weak points, such as the temple, face, throat, wrist(to disarm) and so on. As for whether a swordsman would be afraid, my guess is no. But Jo techniques were developed specifically to deal with "swordsmen", and have been used for that purpose for a long time. The Japanese police began using and training in Jo specifically to deal with Katana.
Love watching Seki sensei. Well done budo brothers for featuring him. Would love some Kama and sai videos with him

Thanks! We love capturing that smoothness and grace. 🙏
Simply beautiful
Great stuff! Shows Donny was the best ninja turtle!
It got me thinking that Donatello's staff has always been specifically a 'jo' (probably 4 shaku; maybe 4.5).
@@JanetStarChild YES! Totally! and a very dangerous weapon!

... Shoutout to Shogo's -tan-!
Хотелось бы увидеть испытание силы ударов на манекене, неужели мечник будет бояться ударов палкой?
Yes but that doesn't mean the swordsman won't swing anyways. Those sticks are no joke but it doesn't mean you will stop an opponent from cutting you.
