I don't like to heat plastics, even a little bit. I put my new honey straight from the store into a glass mason jar. You can also get a spoon in there easily.
Coming here to say that 3 years later this still works!! I heated water to 140 F with an electric kettle and filled the crock pot and kept it on warm just as listed. The temperature did drop to 130 F since the lid was off but the temp. maintained itself steady for the 3 hours I had the bottles in the bath. My bottles were almost empty and the honey hat settled to one side. They floated so I had to rubber band them together and put a small handled heavier pot on top of them to avoid them from topping over and floating. I noticed that the seal on two of them wasn’t as snug as before and water could easily enter. I would advise not letting the bottles lay in the water to avoid water leaking into the honey. Also, the metal pot creates a little heat cave and honey that had hardened on top melted to the bottom. I emptied the honey in a jar that I could easily scoop with a spoon. I remember seeing another video that stated that honey would re-crystallize again and to avoid it to put a little of corn syrup in the honey, but unless you have a full jar of unused honey, I don’t think it’s worth the effort. Great instructions and easy to follow. I can’t believe I threw perfectly good honey away all those years ago that I could’ve solved with a crock pot!
My first jar crystalyzed 1/4of the bottle. I cut the bottle open lenghwise and put it out for the bees. I dont know where they all come from, but they were going to town on it. Put sticks here and there so they wouldnt drown in the stuff. It was really neat to watch them work it down to nothing but a couple crystals.
I 'collect' honey when I go on my road/motorcycle trips. I think it is neat how honey from other areas of the US tastes different from what I purchase locally here in Arkansas. Thanks for the vid...I have several jars that need de-crytalized.
anyone watching should actually cut open their bottles and put the honey into jars or other containers that aren't plastic for future easy recrystallization (i personally buy ketchup, or pickles or w.e. else you want, +500g jars instead of bottles for exact this reason, do it 1-2 times and you have forever lasting container for stuff like this especially considering you dont eat 200g honey in a sitting). Heating plastic with things you plan to consume inside is a very very bad idea
The reason to uncrystallize it is because its stuck in the bottle. Low temperatures like 100f are very safe for foodgrade plastics, I guarantee you are eating far more dangerous foods of the like on a daily basis.
I have 3 big bottles of honey that have only 1/4 left, all totally crystallized. I'm gonna try this, thanks! So much better than using a long spoon and getting all sticky! LOL
Heating up a jar now. I filled up a pot with hot water, put the container inside, put the stove burner on super low. I have a lazer temp gun and heat it up to 107 degrees f. If it goes higher than that, I slide the pot off the burner just a bit. Keep doing that till the temp doesn't go up or down.
I have left about 28oz honey for over 2h at exactly 105F. Then let it on the warm water overnight. Still partially crystallized. I think 105F is too low. Will go to 130F for another couple of hours.
Can't let the plastic touch the bottom of the pan while heating..it will melt...you must have the water between it and the bottom to keep it under 212..on the 3xtewme end...use a double boiler if you want to heat it in the bottle
RB, once you decrystallize and if the temperature in your area is warm like spring/summer, it should remain in its original state for a week or so. I read that if the temperature is below 50, it will probably start to crystalize again. I also read that depending on what the bees are foraging on, that could add to crystallization, so as mentioned in the video, crystallized honey is still good to eat.
need higher temp or keep it for longer. It's not rocket science, its literally HEAT+CRYSTALIZED> Liquid honey, can just add your jar into pot with hot - not boiled - water and keep it there, same concept.
There's 3000 year old honey that's still edible. So long as it's not got a bunch of contaminants in it (like pb smears) it will last that long. Mine WITH smears has lasted me 4 years so far.
Step 1.) Buy honey in a plastic bottle Step 2.) Heat up the plastic so that you get an extra dose of microplastics when you eat it Step 3.) Wonder why you’re sick and depressed all the time

Thanks! Summary: Keep water at 104 to 105 degrees submerged. Boiling or microwave will destroy the enzymes.
Celcius or farenheit?
@@supertrooper0264 Fahrenheit
So the plastic does not melt at 100 deg
No more honey in coffee or tea.
I don't like to heat plastics, even a little bit. I put my new honey straight from the store into a glass mason jar. You can also get a spoon in there easily.
Great idea!
That’s such a smart idea.!
I am definitely doing this next time! Thanks!
Absolutely! That is exactly what I was going to say😊

The honey in my house started to crystallize. I just ran it over somewhat hot from the sink and it worked like a charm.
You gotta appreciate how much knowledge is packed in this video. Came for a quick tip but ended up learning a whole bunch 🤙🏽
I 'collect' honey when I go on my road/motorcycle trips. I think it is neat how honey from other areas of the US tastes different from what I purchase locally here in Arkansas. Thanks for the vid...I have several jars that need de-crytalized.
I don't ever put a like on a video but I did today. Straight to the point and an absolute life saver at 2AM. thank you sir
I dunno what you have going on at 2:00AM but include me next time.
3:16 am for me, and it is because I want to make a peanut butter and honey sandwich 😂
Such a simple and straightforward video. It’s greatly appreciated 🙏🏼
👍
Thank you so much. I knew there was a way to decrystalize honey, I just didn't know what it was.
Thanks for the GREAT advice and demonstration.

It’s such a slow process without a crock pot. I keep changing water to warm/hot after it cools and 6 changes later, only 15% of honey de-crystalized.
I have 3 big bottles of honey that have only 1/4 left, all totally crystallized. I'm gonna try this, thanks! So much better than using a long spoon and getting all sticky! LOL

Awesome ! I spent $25 on a giant bottle and it’s now crystallized! So I’m getting out my crock pot , filling it with water, and trying this process 🤠
How did it work out? I have a jumbo Costco bottle that I need to work with, but it's too big for a crock pot so I'm curious if it worked for you. :)
Thank you i never knew i could decrystallised honey
Great and Informative. Thanks a ton!
Thank you for sharing this simple remedy
so the next day it is crystalized again and you have to do this all over again ?????
😂
Question… they say honey lasts forever, doesn’t spoil…. But about the enzymes? They must eventually become inactive… how lone does the enzymes last
Would a rice cooker on the "Warm" setting work?
I bought that same Ollie's batch at the time of this video .. now, two years later, sad I have to buy full priced honey again. :(
I have left about 28oz honey for over 2h at exactly 105F. Then let it on the warm water overnight. Still partially crystallized. I think 105F is too low. Will go to 130F for another couple of hours.
Great video. Thank you for posting!
Thank you for your video. How did you decrystallize a 55 gallon drum filler honey?
Move drum to 100 degree area
What they said... or I'd say to wrap it in electric blankets. ;)
Something that works similar! A cup and hot running water from your faucet.
Well what am supposed to do if I don’t have that machine…
Do you use this on the brokeback mountain?
Would it still work if I left the heat on low on the stove top and put the bottle in some water in a pot?
Can't let the plastic touch the bottom of the pan while heating..it will melt...you must have the water between it and the bottom to keep it under 212..on the 3xtewme end...use a double boiler if you want to heat it in the bottle
Degrees....F or C?
I don’t have a thermometer so how can I do this without that?
How long does it stay decrystallized
RB, once you decrystallize and if the temperature in your area is warm like spring/summer, it should remain in its original state for a week or so. I read that if the temperature is below 50, it will probably start to crystalize again. I also read that depending on what the bees are foraging on, that could add to crystallization, so as mentioned in the video, crystallized honey is still good to eat.
This seems like a good job for a sous vide
Good to know, thanks. However, I like to eat crystallized honey in a sandwich, usually with PB. It doesn’t ooze out as much as the more fluid form.😊
I love crystalized honey.....reminds me of when my Grandma kept Bees
When they package honey, the process requires the honey to be at about 140 degrees f.
Who's "they"? Whatever brand you looked at probably pasteurizes it.
thanks... my honey always crystalize before i finished using it
I have tried this, it does not work.
need higher temp or keep it for longer. It's not rocket science, its literally HEAT+CRYSTALIZED> Liquid honey, can just add your jar into pot with hot - not boiled - water and keep it there, same concept.
What is the shelf life of honey? We've got a couple of partly used jars of crystallized honey that I'd like to revive and use up.
There's 3000 year old honey that's still edible. So long as it's not got a bunch of contaminants in it (like pb smears) it will last that long. Mine WITH smears has lasted me 4 years so far.
Thank you. Great video.
Awesome! Thank you!
Plus you need local raw honey, for your immune system
Sadly it recrystalized as soon as it cooled
My dehydrator set to 100 degrees.... I'm gonna try that.
They’ve found honey in Egyptian tombs 1000s of years old that’s still good. Sahd Guru says honey has a very similar molecule makeup to human blood.
Thank you!!
Great video
thank you 🦋
How long is honey good for
Technically speaking honey never goes bad.
only food that naturally never decays. They found honey under the pyramids that was perfectly edible.
I put it in the windowsill.
I just push on mine get motion going
tysm!
Thank you :)
Step 1.) Buy honey in a plastic bottle
Step 2.) Heat up the plastic so that you get an extra dose of microplastics when you eat it
Step 3.) Wonder why you’re sick and depressed all the time
Yeah you just need to break up the crystal structure that it has formed
Also why would I want enzymes? It's just protein
Thankx. but @#%! them enzymes 🔥 😂
sous vide
"Some people *like it* like this."
Some people just want to watch the world burn
A su vi would be great then
Microwave
So you can’t put honey in coffee or tea and expect any benefits is what you’re saying. Bummer.
Why don’t you try ice tea/ice coffee… even the leaves you boil are less healthy then tea leaves steeped in cold water for a long period of time
