Hi Caroline! Great video. Another good tip is to press down very hard with the lancet for pt with calloused fingers. I was wondering if you had any tips on getting blood from pts who are poorly perfused? Ive had some difficulty getting enough blood for even one drop let alone a second. I have milked the finger but i know that is not good practice...

    Hey Caroline,
I really like you're videos! Thank you for your engagement!!
I hope you'll create more helpful videos!
In this video I feel the need of the location where you use the lancet.
To everyone: please do not stab directly into the fingertip!
It really hurts and you destroy the sensitive nerve cells!
If you stab into the side of the fingertip you'll destroy more unimportant nerve cells than you do in the fingertip.
And try to use not the thumb or the trigger finger. These two are the most important fingers and it's important that the patient do not lose the sensible feeling.
And please contact the appropriate personnel when the blood glucose level is greater then 200mg/dl.
    This is what I've learned.
All in all this is a really great video! :)

We never use alcohol, it can cause false low readings and skin integrity issues. If visibly clean you just use. If dirty you wash or help wash.

      Hi Brandon!
It is great to hear from you!
I remove staples all the time! It usually does not hurt at all... my patients tell me sometimes that it is uncomfortable or feels weird, but rarely say that it is painful :)
As for the wire & pins... I cannot say for sure, but I imagine that you would not be awake... but again, not 100% sure.
      I hope this helps!
      See you soon!
      xoxo

thank you for this video it was very helpful . I'm currently noticing symptoms of hypoglycemia . when I don't eat something fast, or when I do eat I start feeling dizzy ringing in the ears, shaky, confused sweating very hot feeling . I usually take a tablespoon of honey to get better fast . I don't know if hypoglycemia is what causing my symptoms,or something else. I don't want to go to the doctor, and they look at me like I'm crazy . also blood tests are expensive: (. thank you in advance for any advice:)

      +Janet Cortorreal
      Hi Janet!
I'm so sorry to hear that!
I'm honestly not licensed to give medical advice, but I will say this, perhaps try to have more substantial snacks available like a carbohydrate & protein instead of a simple sugar like honey. Maybe it will make you feel better for longer :) but of course, this may not even be the issue... which is why we always do recommend visiting a doctor where they have everything they need to ensure proper evaluation.
Sorry I cant be more help.
But I hope you feel better!!
      Much love,
      - Caroline
