@@ook_3D no, they arent

My immediate thought from this idea is that clans would just start having naked "spotters" serve as their eyes. Clans would evolve to have these naked scouts running ahead of them and telling them what their inhuman night vision lets them see in the dark. Geared players already have "slaves" do gathering for them. I do like the idea of nakeds having an edge like this and making night time scary for geared players, but my immediate thought is always "How will people abuse this?"
@Adjcent I'm more thinking about the way it would affect the meta between clans who would immediately add nakeds to their strategies. Every group just starts with "Okay, who's gonna be the scout this time?" and every geared group will have one or more of them. I like the idea a lot, as the nakeds get shat on the most in Rust, but the idea of geared players using this naked perk makes my stomach turn. But there isn't much you can do about that. Hell, I don't even play Rust. Why am I talking about this? Anyway. You're right though, something like this would definitely become part of the meta and that's probably what bothers me about it. There really isn't a way to tip the odds in the nakeds favor, without making it unfair or having geared folks making use of it as well.
I tried to think of alot of ways to abuse it but wasn't really convinced.
A spotter would probably be no better than another guy with a gun and a flashlight spotting. A naked spotter would have to relay information.
This would probably only be effective on an open plain, with no other geared players and consistent number of nakeds.
What if you lose the ability to regain night vision after setting your spawnpoint? I haven't personally played rust, but I imagine that would make it even more inconvenient for large clans to keep spotters. (of course regain night vision if your bed was broken and you spawn somewhere random)
You could easily do spotting with the implementation of the compass in to the game about a year ago. The part about it would only be as good as a flashlight is wrong because a flashlight when you turn it one looses the surprise factor that you have I could have a spotter in my term ether tell me the degree that they are then turn on my flashlight and gun them down or have the go up to the man pretending to be friendly and using his team marker make the shoot you would spray them both down but the does not matter
@@Uniquenameosaurus I'm just thinking about it in the terms of how the very committed playerbase play the game. Like the case of base raids. People are usually on discord for private communication and the first priority for these hypothetical teams would be to kill any and ll nakeds in the vicinity. It's a pretty big blow to lose the guy that can see in the dark and the fights would have this really weird flow, with teams of geared raiding, counter raiding and nakeds buzzing around the fight, looking for a chance to grab gear, only to become prey to their former naked brethren seconds later.
You know. I guess that doesn't really change much, aside from giving geared players another thing to think about in fights and giving nakeds a useful perk.
...I guess when I really think about it, it would only give people another thing to consider. To be naked or not to be naked. I kind of like it in the way that it gives you a choice in how you'd want to play, since at the moment the one true path in Rust is to get progressively bigger and better guns and there is literally no benefit in the caveman level gear of the early game. I'm not one to talk though. If I played Rust, I'd be a cringey roleplayer with a nice little cabbage patch and spend my days making paintings on signs to fill an art gallery.
I'll leave the fighting to folks like Welyn. Even as an outsider I can enjoy such masterful storytelling.
why not make it a dynamic system? the more "primitive" you are the better your night vision. Just got a rock? congrats you can see perfectly. Got a few melee's? slightly reduced vision, bow? half vision, crossbow? quarter vision, Gun? you in the jungle now boi, and the trees are speaking naked.
MrGemHunter ZERY NICE
Like how peoples vision become darker the older they get
You're ruining the click bait title Mr Gem.
THE CLICK BAIT
then ppl with a crossbow would just gamma up to see perfectly
I don't think thats a good idea, simply because "slightly reduced vision" or "half vision" would mean one of two things: either it gets progressively darker, which doesn't really matter as you'll still be able to see, you just maybe gotta squint a little, or your draw distance becomes smaller, which ALSO doesn't matter unless you're trying to snipe someone.

So basically you’re saying that Rust has to be a Horror game where nakeds are the monsters?
Sounds great.
Edit: that’s a lot of likes
That would be fkin AWESOME.
i think some people would play rust just to *be* the monsters.
who wouldn't want to beat the crap outa older players
Would be cool if they started as zombies, and when they have loot they are cured, with more speed etc
Sounds like The Forest.
Mitz Newman I would and I don't even have Rust NOR do I possess any skill in FPS games.
“Every naked just started RUNNING! And it wasn't away from you.” Lol iwas dying

*It's never "just one" line of code.*
code without semicolons kappa
@@kaidatong1704 You mean Python?
nvm. i didn’t bother looking up what language rust is coded in
@@kaidatong1704 it's made in Unity, so probably it's C#. You can do it in one line using a conditional expression. I.e.:
lightLevel = (numberOfRangedWeapons==0 && numberOfHighTierMelee==0 && numberOfLowTierMelee
@@PeterDanielBerg maybe an if statement
ah yes, "one line of code"
Tbf, if you're not programmer it seems like one line.
Really it's either nested if statements or something.
@@KokiriKidLink Rust is made in Unity so in C# it'd be something like this:
lightLevel = (numberOfRangedWeapons==0 && numberOfHighTierMelee==0 && numberOfLowTierMelee
@@PeterDanielBerg looks about right
Depending on the programming language, you might might be able to write the entire game on one line of code. You can't do this in a language like Python because it actually reads the whitespace (spaces, new lines, indentation, etc) as part of the logic, whereas with a language like Java whitespace doesn't matter, and the end-of-line logic is marked with a semicolon. So in Java, you can put multiple "lines" of code on a single line, separated by semicolons.
If you actually do this, I'm sure it will make you lots of friends in the programming community, and they will just love to look through your elegant single-line code.
The fact is that it would probably be one line of code, they wouldn't even have to write it because they already have the perfect nighttime in the game. The moonlit night.
*sees geared player struggling to get home*
Naked: *seagull sounds from finding nemo*
i think this is a great idea if implemented well. the "night vision" should work as a trait a player gets when they spawn, called the "Feral" trait or something similar. The trait is then lost as soon as the player picks up a certain level of technology.
Agreed, better way to go about it.
I hate Rust as it is right now, but if this shit was implemented I would boot the game back up in a heartbeat.
I play anyway but would much prefer this way.
Its a super half baked idea and id hate to see it in this form

@@bart0nius What does that half to do with anything. If i was a geared guy i can still see a bad idea when one pops up.

I feel like this might have the unintended(?) consequence of creating the Naked Nation, a community of Rust players that eschew using higher tech most of the time in favor abusing a functionaley new gameplay type, but I don't ply Rust so I'm probably wrong.
TBH that sounds cool
Lookalikealagaler Nah that would be way more fun. Having a fully geared clan going into the night only to be ambushed by a large group of coordinated nakeds would be fun as hell.
Sounds good, lets hope it turns out like that. I like asymmetric gameplay concepts. It's also an objectively good thing if it's not imbalanced iE everyone just plays naked. Because then you get 2 games at the price of one.
Naked savage style
Tech up! style
I just recently started playing rust cuz it seemed fun but now i realize the game is feking hard lol.
And if im not mistaken rust has mods right? If so, someone could just make a mod that does this? If im wrong then sorry, again i just started playing like a a week ago.
@@Hunter_Frost modding is possible, but i am unsure on how much they are allowed to mess with the client.
I might just play rust if this is implemented. This is an amazing idea.

It would be abused to hell and probably make night time worse
Agreed, I stopped playing after it was fully released. I tried it a bit afterwards and it was terrible. Rip Alpha stage
@@bluewuppo Try it again now then. Its the best its ever been without a doubt.
So it would go from "Ugh! it's nighttime" to "Ooh! it's nighttime!"
Sounds nice to me, i don't play Rust but i would definitely want to watch the scenarios that change spawns
1:50 The dev of Rust is aiming for a no wipe game... They already talked about it many many times...
They are working on implementing a multi server based world, where you'd use boats to go from one island to another.
@Yolsos multi-server or no wipe?
Foxhole already implements a multi-server based world. Many games do.
@Yolsos Multi-server is coming. It's not a question of if but of when. Worst case scenarion, people will not be able to join an island with too many players.
"I don't wanna make this game n00b friendly" is the weirdest mentality to me. 'I don't want this game to be fun to start playing' 'Why is nobody playing this game'

In short. NAKEDS ARE NOCTURNAL DAY Z ZOMBIES! AND I LOVE THE IDEA!
I haven't played any rust, and only really knew its name before this video, but I would play the HECK out of this
"Nakeds, what do your naked eyes see?"
This actually sounds awesome. Midnight Naked Raids with like, 10 guys with spears poking down your walls at once become absolutely terrifying.
Most importantly, it makes using a melee weapon something more than a meme.
Considering the fact that night in Rust is fucking scary (I'm 21 and the screams at night give me chills sometimes) this is a good idea.
I like the idea, the only problem is that wouldn't a geared clan just have one of them strip down as a lookout? same how geared just strip if they see the helicopter.
Not to say the idea is far-fetched, but this is probably what would happen. With Coords too, it just makes it easier for geared to know where the naked is via a lookout. I think if rust implemented some sort of full moon kind of timer where after a few days without dying the effect goes away would be better. If a true naked with no stuff wants to have night vision, I don't think they would care if they died. But a clan would really have to plan it out to use a lookout during night.
@@magikal6878 maybe throw in some code that can detect that?
I feel like the solution in this case would be the moment you lose your night vision, you can't gain it back, maybe until you die?
I wouldn't say its anymore effective than that extra guy having a flashlight and a gun and keeping look out, you can cover all 4 directions pretty quickly and they'd only be dangerous as they get in close.
But its by no means a perfect strategy, higher numbers, terrain, other people with guns, the situation and success rate would change based on a lot of factors, which is what I want.
What if you lose the ability to regain night vision after setting your spawnpoint? I haven't personally played rust, but I imagine you would have some kind of equipment by the time you've made a base/bed, correct me if I'm wrong.
Shiet, this is nothing short of genius!
Designing games is my job and this is very impressive and actually inspiring.
I just imagine people playing solely as naked and having fun just running around at night being wild
I'm honestly kind of surprised how quickly I clicked on this.
Lol I'm not. XD
Make tools and low tier weapons like crossbows spawn more often on roads and make it cheaper to upgrade buildings to wood (and make it quicker to gather wood with all tools especially the rock)
I don't think that would be a "one line of code" change, but yeah, it's like 10 lines, and the concept sounds pretty amazing.
You really could do it with one line. Just an "if" statement formatted to fit one line.
@@spencerwimmer2120 i assume the game doesn't have a "HasRangedFirearm()" function, so you'd have to implement that one too, thus it wouldn't be just an addition of single one-line if.
as a guy that is a begginer programmer, I'd say that it would need a *bit* more than a single line of code. just a bit more.
Maybe like 3, all you need is an access line and an "if" statement.
This honestly sounds like a lot of fun, and I'd probably be one to play the game again if this ever got incorporated
Go ahead i dont mind what you make i expect everything at this point. You wanna make a video comparing western media music and anime music using pulp fiction and pop team epic as examples? I would watch that
Wanna make a take on how plants vs zombies explores the horrors of loneliness and mental sickness? Go ahead that sounds entertaining.
I like your videos because you seem to enjoy talking about the subject you are touching and that makes them really enjoable
What
This
I came for you making a video on Steven Universe that echoed all of my feelings. I stayed for the anime. And the design theory and economics was just a massive cherry on top.
A few notes about this:
1. I agree with the people down below talking about a more dynamic system. Everything you do, every piece of equipment you scrounge up should reduce your night vision gradually. Removing that equipment will restore some night vision too, but only by a fraction, so stripping back down only gives you so much in the short term while actually speeding up your loss of night vision in the long term. This would make stripping down for vision a hard choice to make, shaking things up a bit on the geared side as well. If you really want the system to be binary, at least make the vision loss occur across a matter of seconds to prevent the change from being so jarring- having the screen just turn black would kill immersion and make a lot of new players think that their game is bugged.
2. I’ve seen one or two people note that this will make naked players more of a target. I disagree with this based on how this will change player behavior. You see a naked approaching to attack you unprovoked? New player, gun them down and move on. You see a naked bolting the moment you come over the horizon? They mean you no harm. But when a naked is following you at a safe distance, you can tell *exactly* what they’re thinking, and after that gets them killed a few times they’ll smarten up and not be so obvious with their intentions.
3. Following up the previous point, since these behavioral shifts would only start cropping up towards the afternoon, the dynamic remains unchanged for a large chunk of the day-night cycle. The only lasting changes would be with how bases are treated, and if a naked player can spot a base during the daytime and leave before being spotted by the geared players that doesn’t really even come into play. You can’t shoot down a naked that you don’t see, and if you do kill them, what do you expect that to accomplish? It’s not like they have anything to lose from dying, and you’re gonna miss those bullets you just wasted when night falls.
4. Finally, for more experienced players who want a challenge, this change would still leave the day open for raiding bases as a naked!
at first; "hmm.. but how- that's just absurd"
at the end; "well this is a wild idea indeed, I like it"
Well, it's about 50 times more then 1 line of code, but that isn't too much code for a quick patch.
Just don't hit return lol
As a software developer, I can surely tell you:
This is not one line of code
It doesn't sound all THAT hard, but yeah it's certainly not 1 line of code.
One line of code so long as you don't press the return key lol
@@Scroogs No plz
@@Mr2ops one very long line
Do you know C# by chance?
I feel like this would need to be a mod or need some different lore, but conceptually this makes me actually kind of give a shit about Rust whereas I didn't before. That sounds *amazing*.
"one line of code" lol.
And they know they're stronger in a group, super ominous man!
As someone that’s playing over 1000 hours in rust it’s one of my favorite games even though it is heavily flawed but I feel like zergs will just take advantage of this for farming and will just be spotters of geared players it would only really hurt solos with mid tier gear plus this would be bugged knowing the devs. I personally really like the week wipes and they have been much more fun for me because on a monthly wipe you snowball in like three days then are done so after that there is nowhere to go up.
Yeah, without some complex code this sounds pretty abusable.
Great video.
I personally aspire to be a game developer,I would love to see more video from you about that, the way you approach it is great.

You're a genius. You're actually a genius. I'm not even being sarcastic.
You are truly a genius!
It took a little while before I trusted that your idea was super genius but once you did I now know that's way better
Neato idea but it runs the risk of clans making a "naked spotter" go with them who would have no gear and thus have night vision which they communicate to the clan/squad
It makes more player interaction. Now clans have a class system. The geared upper class, and the naked lower class. Which sounds really cool.
This video was hilarious. The editing with all the nakeds just going from the right of the screen to the left (6:37) had me laughing for minutes.
Please show me how you do that in one line of code.

This would be great if the community wasn't toxic enough to find a way to abuse this fresh spawn ability especially in big groups where some clan members have multiple accounts... But the concept is tremendously wonderful
>Complaining about Rust's pitch black nighttime
ARK: "First time?"
Are you kidding? Rust is already completely terrifying
"But you know... YOU FUCKIN' KNOW, that the SECOND that shot rang out, every naked within 20 miles just started fucking running, AND IT WASN'T AWAY FROM YOU..."
Got me cracking up seeing the edits of nakeds just rushing the geared player xD
I actually liked this video more than your anime ones. Good job!
This seems like a really good idea. I haven't gotten into Rust because I heard that it wasn't very friendly for newcomers but with your idea, it could work well. One possible issue I did find is that geared players may then employ scouts or such: Nakeds who work with them who can look around and point out any danger. This may not be a full issue since it would change the dynamic still and it would require a lot of communication in which time the Nakeds could already have made their move but it might be something to think about.
Why not commit and have multiple progress tiers? You start with full night vision, then you get a bow and have limited range night vision, then as you grab more gear your night vision shrinks further. Once you've got good equipment that lets you compete on semi-level ground during the day, the night goes full black. This extension to the idea makes the night progressively more dangerous, balanced for all players rather than putting them in 2 extremes, and serves as an unspoken warning teaching the player that power = darkness.
this is the pinical of game design my man i love it
This is a bloody brilliant idea!
i've never played this game but your idea sounds good
I literally love this suggestion, please god add it.
I fucking love this, imagining the situations that would ensue with this added makes me let out a cheesy as hell evil laugh.
This sounds like an amazing idea
This sounds like a pretty neat switch-up.
i’ve never heard of this game before in my entire life but i love this video
One more thing needs to be added to this to make it a bit more fair:a dynamically leveled helicopter needs to spawn once every few nights that attacks bases. It's level will be determined by the amount of loot in players and containers. It does little damage to players, but heightened damage to structures, although killing it will yield the full cost of all structures destroyed by it and more. This allows gear heads an opportunity to do something at night and expand bases a bit faster, while serving as a beacon and opportunity for nakeds to get some sweet loot.
I haven't played rust in over a year, this would make me play it more again
It would be cool if you could still have night vision with bone armor and bows. It would really give a primitive savage feel and them with the nakeds would be really fun to see.
the rust community is horrifying enough as it is
I don't even play rust and I'm so interested in this
Alright boys, let’s get this vid noticed by the rust devs.
Not gonna lie I think you're putting a lot more love and care into the maintenance and player interactions of Rust than the developers are.
Great video. Glad I made it here early.
This would be fun to try out
You know what? Yes.
I barely even know this game, and yet this idea makes playing the game actually sound fun.
Instead of night vision being an equipment dependent variable, it should last a few hours after any new player joins a server. That would stop people and epsecially geared players from abusing the perk.
I think it’s funny that all of the shorter comments Start or end with I have never played rust.
this sound like a great idea this proably might get me back to play rust again
I feel like this is a really great game idea. A multiplayer game where you start of as a zombie, allied with other zombies, and when you kill a person, you gain humanity or something, and start turning human.
I don’t think scanning inventories will work because the “geared” players could deposit their inventories around night time to still get the night vision buff.
Perhaps a good alternative would be for the game to track time spent on a server. This would take away the possibility of a person with gear managing to worm his way into the night vision buff while still providing the benefits you show in the video.
While i like the scanning inventories thing, I can’t help but feel like players will find a way around it like they do with the tutorial helpers in OSRS.
Granted, I do not own Rust nor have I played it. But I like the idea of what you are proposing and wanted to add my thoughts.
Thanks for reading :)
But then you couldn't have a naked faction.
Bleflar how so?
@@firstpersonfinatic If it was to go away after some time you couldn't have factions that stay naked all the time.
Bleflar well thats the point isn’t it? I thought the whole idea was to grab loot from clothed players. The purpose of Unique’s system is to help struggling new players, not to create a whole new faction.
Love listening to you rant XD
I mean I'd add something like "technological euphoria" as a short buff that increases speed or smth once you gain control of an item that has a higher tier than the highest you've previously had. Like double movement speed for like 10 seconds to at least be able to run faster in the dark once you've gained your new goodies and lost night vision. At least to counteract the sudden disorientation you'll feel going dark from one moment to another.
I love this proposal. I wonder if the dev team would ever care to hear it.
So it’s kinda like a reverse infection mode, where everyone starts out as “zombies” that can turn into humans, or geared’s, once they successfully killed a geared
This is something that sounds crazy but super fun
I don't play rust, but I too live thinking more than playing, and I think this is the sort of idea that makes games when properly implemented.
I like the sound of more game design stuff
this is a pretty decent idea. would love to see this on a modded server or something id totally play it
I can see this change backfiring hard, in terms of geared guys flipping gear on and off, or just having anti naked slaves ect
Rust is fun because its unforgiving and it requires dedication that's why all the people i know enjoy it
Holy shit this actually sounds awesome!!!
Not been a modern gamer I have no idea what you're on about.
I enjoyed the video all the same.
i would really like to see something like this implemented, or at least the core idea of making fresh spawns have a unique place in the game design.
I think the rule for the helicopter check should be changed to cautious when players only have a spear/bow and attack when the player shoots with either the bow or throws the spear, and it doesn’t necessarily have to be the heli just ranged attacks will instant agro which would increase variety in combat so that the players would be forced to melee when around the chopper or die pretty much instantly
I personally don't play rust, but I can think of a few problems with this. I wouldnt mind if anyone refute this, because I don't know much about rust and the community.
The first one is that there will be groups of geared and nekkids running around at night. The nekkids can scout around the area and can use flares to pinpoint others. The geared will then be able to tell where the general area a hostile is. The hostile can attempt to run, but the group's nekkids will be able to track them
The second is one that you pointed out in the video. A nekkid picking up gear at night loses their night vision. It would just lead to nekkids fighting each other after they take out the geared or even dissuade people from even fighting the geared in the middle of the night in the first place.
The third one is assuming that nekkids will go after geared people in the first place. Let's assume that I'm alone, gathering sticks and rocks and whatever resources I can collect. I have low tier gear. Then I hear a gun shot. My first thought probably won't just suddenly go to the source of the sound. My first thought will be just avoid the area. Why? Because I don't know how many geared there are there. I don't know if there are any nekkids around who heard that shot. I don't know if there are nekkids who working with the geared. I'd much rather turn tail. If the game is willing to spawn NPC nekkids that would attack the geared like a zombie like swarm, then I may have a change of thought. But otherwise, no.
