    You can see shadow movements through that film, so they still know you are home. My 2-year old opened the door to a scary stranger before I could get to the door, so I know what you mean; he took advantage & stepped inside. It was hard getting rid of him. Kids do the darndest things.

      @@ertemyha door locks are genuinely not hard to open for a child that young. if they’re already 100% mobile & walk on their own- the chances of them knowing how to simply open a door are pretty high. circular child locks can also be put on the inside of the front & back doors aswell, it would probably be a hassle to take them on & off every single time the doors need to be opened, but at least toddlers & small children wont be able to just open it as they please.

      That happened to me it was the Jehovah witnesses, and they wouldn't take no for an answer, so I said I worshiped the guy downstairs, and this little old lady said I don't believe you. 🤣🤣🤣
      They even put their foot inside so I couldn't close the door and here's the crazy part about all this we live way out in the woods off of a dirt road that's ten miles away from a real road and our nearest neighbor was twenty miles away, how in the hell did they think that someone lived out there.
      My husband chased them off when he shot his gun into the air from the shop he was in.

    Just be aware that if you experience really hot summers that any windows that get a lot of sunlight might peel in the corners due to the film expanding during the day and then contracting at night. All you have to do is wet the corners with a little water and squeegee it back and it’ll be fine.
    The other great thing is that they don’t use adhesive on the back so you can switch them out for holiday designs if you want to. Once they’re cut to size it’s so easy to peel and stick

    ⚠️ *The true test of whether or not you* *can actually see through those privacy* *films and into your house* *is to GO OUTSIDE AT NIGHT AND LOOK FROM OUTSIDE IN with the lights in your house turned on.*
    When it comes to those privacy films, sometimes what looks blurry to you and what YOU can't see from the inside of your house is the total opposite of what can be seen when someone is looking from the outside into the house.
    Even some of those plain privacy films without patterns cut into them can be seen through from outside of a house especially at night.
    The best thing to do is to make sure the privacy film you buy can be returned before you buy it, then when you get it cut out a square, stick it to your window and test if you can see through it or not before you waste time installing it on your windows and/or the window in your door. Then if it doesn't work out you can always return it.

    Pretending no one is home is not a good habit to teach kids. A lot of parents do it but if in case there is a robber the kid coming up is a warning to them that someone is home so it is not the time to rob, I assume you aren’t leaving toddlers home alone anyways but if your child (teenager) is at home alone then they should learn to turn the lights on first and then go to the door and if it is someone suspicious, ask them through the little window what they want or tell them that their parents are upstairs sleeping after work. This tip has helped me so many times when I had to live in a rough neighbourhood for a couple months while waiting for my house to get renovated. I still do this every time someone I don’t know comes to the door.

    I’ve never understood glass doors or doors that have glass in them unless it’s a door that’s going to a place that has no outside access. Maybe it’s just because I’m a woman and have many reasons to be constantly scared out of my mind, but to me, privacy and safety come before anything else in house design. You don’t need strangers seeing into your home and you really don’t need to make it easier to break into your house by having easily breakable glass as your “barrier” to the outside

    • @Mischa21xo
      @Mischa21xo Год назад +3

      If you live in the United States, please get a firearm. It is mind-boggling to me when I hear other women talking about how scared they are and how they don't like walking in store parking lots alone at night and such.. I would never ever live like that. Also, people always talk about getting a dog for protection, but they don't do anything for protection. If someone is willing to harm you or shoot you, they will definitely shoot your dog first, rendering them completely useless when it comes to real protection and real life situations.
      We all need to be smart when it comes to safety, especially us women..so obviously locking the door to your car whenever you are inside of it, especially if you are ever sitting in a parking lot in it, or doing things like not wearing headphones when you are out in public so you can be more aware of your surroundings is a good start to keep yourself safe. But the most important thing to have to protect yourself is a firearm. That is literally the only thing that will allow anyone to walk without fear, even by themselves. We live in a very different time- it has gotten a lot more violent and people have very short tempers, some people just like hurting others and that is what they are out to do. Nobody should ever live their life in fear. I refuse to, but I also refuse to become a victim. Everyone should have a firearm, or at the end of the day you are just a sitting duck HOPING nobody chooses to harm you. It is better to make SURE no harm comes to you. Anyhow, best of luck and God bless.

    That was a lot of work. There's small curtains and rods made just for those windows. I'm looking at a set right now on my door. They look nice, too.

      @BeGD ... Its just me, but I think it took her a lot more than 20 minutes. But time aside ... one can still pull back a curtain to look out when needed, but you can't do that with window film.

      Had to bring to court for animal abuse.
      Dog was rehomed, he is shunned in the subd, but I passed out the final time he beat that pup.
      I won't open the drapes on that side, but now I can. two full sized double pane windows. Hope they work.

    I’m going to do this in our seasonal camper. It’s an old one with a LOT of windows, and we have creepy neighbors behind us, and we need more privacy in the bedroom too with three large windows! I love the light, but the privacy is a must. 😊

      Well, that sounds very lovely.
      But, robbers could still smash through them, reach in, and unlock your front door!
      Why bother building a front entranceway on the house at all?

    • @gsanchez5116
      @gsanchez5116 Год назад

      @@TheNoiseySpectator actually it’s for the back window lol. But yeah you could argue why do anything with your house at all when a robber could just smash through anything any day and steal everything. The colors look nice, plus if we assume the neighbors aren’t plotting to smash through the window it’s just nice so that not everybody can see inside when you’re eating dinner or something

      @@TheNoiseySpectator oh I see what you’re saying. Yeah windows on a front door aren’t my favorite. But they’re just as vulnerable as every other window on a one story house so there’s not much difference

    We also have windows beside our door, only that they are one-way mirror, we can see who is outside but outside it looks like an actual mirror. Then we added pull down curtains when night comes because the light from the inside voids the one-way mirror.
