    Wow, so far I have found the thingy on the end called - mowing guide, swarth board, lateral deflector. That is from just 3 different owners manuals. Brad I guess you can call it what ever you want.
    Great video. Thanks for sharing. Dan😊

    Back in the 1960's this was pretty much the go to mower in my area. Seemed like this is what everyone used to mow hay. And most used something like a Ford 8n or 601. Small Massy not big tractors. Most were seven foot.

    I think the technical name is a End Thing. We always called it a divider shoe. Keeps the bar off the ground but also clear a spot so your inside shoe doesn’t drag up on next round

      I like it! I called it the big red thing in another video. I need to look it up! Thanks for watching.

    Good job out there. Rainy season is coming, you should be fine with water soon.

      Rains keep missing the farm this summer but August starts the tropical busy season in Florida, so who knows? Thanks for watching.

    Look up. I & J Manufacturing in PA. They make the best sickle bar cutters period…. Their sickles have two cutting blades/Bars and they do not clog up. Your grass was quite short to be cutting in the video. Suckles will work much better in taller material. I maintain a 10 acre lake with mine and cut all the way to and into the water line. My cutter will cut from 90 degrees (straight up) al the way down to about 70 degrees below horizontal. You will find that as you move further down the bank closer to the water you will hold up the cutter bar off the ground some in order not to constantly trip the break away function and have to re set the bar back into mowing position. Great video !! These are GREAT MOWERS!! And under utilized for sure in the market. 👍👍

    I know I have some hills that a sickle bar like that would be awesome on. I need a small version for the BX!

      They make 'em smaller. Even some that don't need rear remotes.

    I have always thought sickle bar mowers look so cool! I was wondering if the mower rides on the shoe on the end of the bar what happens if there is a hump in the ground and it ends up in the middle of the bar? Take care Brad and Deb!

      Justin, the owner said he hit some fence posts with it...it has a spring on it so it will fold back if it hits something immovable. But if it's an anthill, it will just slice through it and dull the blades over time. Here's more mowing with it: ruclips.net/video/HDmVxpDuHAM/видео.html

    I've never used a Sickle Bar... so is it just in Float, and goes up/down on it's own following the land Brad? Or are you setting the position with the hydraulics, and adjust it yourself as needed? Seems really nice!

    • @PineyGroveHomestead
      @PineyGroveHomestead Год назад

      You let the whole thing down to ride on the skids with the 3pt hitch. Then use hydraulic remote to let the bar down (some sickles you let down manually), then it rides on that red thing at the end to follow the contour of the land. Don't really adjust it once it's down. Here's our first try with it: ruclips.net/video/HDmVxpDuHAM/видео.html Thanks for watching!

    Practice and you will be able to easily mow on that slope with that tractor. Just go slow and it will hold nicely Watch the state mow the right of ways to see just how far they go.
