@@JorgeRodriguez-po7kx most likely the engine room in an old boat.. in the 1960s as a kid i had an uncle that had a 50 feet fishing boat from the 1930s with a 200 hp 2 sylinder semidiesel.. it was a simular setup with a hand crankd compresssor creating airpressure, and then turning the flywheel to the starting point before opening the start air valve and in wintertime loading with 12 gauge shotgunshell blanks with only gunpowder to give an ekstra kick on second rotations starting point. hehe but if it was ekstra cold you had to heat the sylinder tops first with blowtorches
@@samkom33 if you have ever watched the movie flight of the Phoenix with Jimmy Stewart you will see him using the shotgun shells to start the engine. For a short period of time that's how engine manufacturers were doing it. I never knew they had one in boats. Thanks for sharing your story.

I know a few that are pretty damned good mechanics, many with military service & training, and I have to admit I’ve seen some VERY attractive women with blue hair, piercings and tattoos, but that’s just my opinion... To me, there’s nothing more attractive than a strong, capable and independent woman who’s not all submissive and servile- one that knows her way around engines is just more alluring!
I know this type of engine very well from when I was employed at B & W Alpha Dielsen. Even a 100kg man could sometimes have trouble cranking the engine if it was cold and hadn't been started for a while. This woman impresses me :-)

The moment she opened the valve on the starter-air bottle, I was suddenly taken some years back - working in the North Sea, on ''Stril Clipper'; I was helping the 'chief' down in the eng.room, lifting the head of a compressor back in place after overhaul, and when mounted & connected, he started it up - simultaneously opening the valve on the huge bottle (tank) of (starter-) air for the main engine. Suddenly a flange (on the pipe going from the compressor to the main eng. starter-air tank) broke off, and a hell of a *_swoooshing-air-sound_* erupted (0nly an auxcillary engine was running at the time, so the sound of escaping air was *_REAL LOUD!!!_* ). And _that's_ when the idiot chief for a moment *_totally panicked!_* - He stood in one place - turning in circles!!! - absolutely _clueless_ - until he _finally_ ran for the valve of the m.engine's starter-air tank and got it closed! (I'll _never, ever_ forget the expression of being totlly and _uttely_ 'lost'! 🤣 [This ''guy'' was in some ways _more_ of a woman than the girl starting this good ole B.W! . . . . . ) Good job to this nice family! 😉👍
Step 1, prelube the bearings and engine Step 2,rotate the engine for checking of there is no water up on the pistons with the de-compressionvalves open. Step 3, open the valves for the compressed air. Step 4. Start the engine Step 5. Check pressures and temperatures and the whole engine visual. Step 6. Coffee
Cool as all get out !! She knows the process really good. The way the little girl came over to help was absolutely priceless. Nothing like some good teamwork. Great video.
I once worked on the older, two cylinder, version of this engine. Was fun! but i remember a few more steps, especially checking if there was a flow of cooling water coming out of the port outside the ship.
That was one sweet lady. And how cool - you definitely do not have to explain her why an engine needs oil... 👍🏼😊 But man, what a process to start those old engines - it is seriously different from just turning the ignition.

@@cuda426hemi Actually, it's the other way around. Left hand threads on the left two wheels, and right hand threads on the right side. I have several large trucks that still use that system. It's done that way to ensure that the left side wheels cannot loosen without mechanical input from a human. If in doubt about thread direction, normally there will be an 'L' on the tip of the lug stud that is threaded left handed. God bless you!
