Thank you so much for this. Before tonight I would have tried to avoid taking hormones, but now that I know the reasons why one would need to I will be open to them. I also appreciate the great explanations on lifestyle changes and how to alter the "night owl" rhythm I have fallen into over the last year or so. At 52 and perimenopausal with weight gain around the middle over the last 7 years, I am extremely grateful to have been made aware of everything I have heard here tonight. Thank you, Sarah and Matt and Dr. Gersh! Your work is wonderful.
Thank you, thank you! I have been struggling for several years with my menopause symptoms. Dr Gersh really clarified things and helped me be “armed” when I visit my doctor. Looking forward to her book!
Studying naturopathic medicine for years and knowing some of the same, I will concur with so much that has been said here! I have the vivelle dot (bio available estrogen) to help add in estrogen. since I went through menopause early after getting a hysterectomy - it’s been absolutely necessary! I had high testosterone before I got on the vivelle estrogen dot. My only concern now is achieving the right balance...with progesterone and estrogen. I just wish there was a solid combo that works in one patch or pill! One thing I’ve found that is helpful for “women of an advanced age” who are going through things like hyper or hypo thyroid and glucose issues associated with or contributing to diabetes ...is not necessarily eating huge meals as soon as you wake - as your body is still detoxing overnight. Water and fruit first thing I the morning absolutely helps us detox the liver and lymphatic system! Also, a little something before bed (not alcohol, breads or sugar - but something more like an apple or banana and peanut butter, or even a small thing like a cup of tea with milk & honey). This does help your blood sugar regulate better and allows you to sleep through the night better. Sleep, nutrients, and environment absolutely helps us reduce cortisol - something which can be a huge challenge for immune systems, metabolism and hormone regulation. Would love to hear more about regulating this area of my health and ensuring my hormones are balanced. For me - I am just trying to eat healthy, sleep well, keep stress low, getting out in nature and exercising regularly to help my body face the challenges in life as I age...gracefully! Thank you again for the insights & info!
Thank you for sharing your story and your tips! We are happy to hear that you are interested in this topic and this conversation. We will keep this in mind for future guests and episodes. 😊
Dr. Gersh was a wealth of new information. Thank you so much Sarah and Matt for bringing her on. really looking forward to learning more about her work and her specific insights on helping to fortify us as we age. Also think this information must be helpful for men, too. Dr. Gersh is a revelation to me. So glad to meet her. She's a delight. So humorous. Loved the show.
Loved this presentation by Dr. Gersh, particularly about hormones and their importance for our whole life span. I'll definitely be seeking help with that soon. Thank you so much for including Dr. Gersh in your program.
Thank you for sharing your experience and for watching our video. Menopause can bring about significant changes, including those that affect cognitive function. It's great that you found our content helpful in understanding these changes. Remember, it's never too late to start taking steps to support your brain health.❤
Thank you so much Sarah and Matt for bringing Dr. Felice to my attention. Invaluable information for all women. And I’m guessing that most women, myself included, don’t realise how important oestrogen is for so many functions in the body. I have heard of a hormone test called the ‘Dutch’ test so that’s where I’ll start. I will also be following Dr. Felice on her Instagram page. Thanks again for the wonderful work you do.
We are so happy to hear that you have found this episode to be helpful! This information is so important and we are happy to share it with the world. 😊
Just started to watch the vid...I was surprised to hear thst menopausal women outnumber men, when it comes to cardiovascular disease! Although, from my own experience I do know how important estrogen is for heart health. I'm in my late 40's..Peri-menopausal..and have low hormone levels...which I use natural hormone creams to remedy,somewhat...and I have cardiovascular disease. What I know is, that when my estrogen levels r too low, it makes my angina and heart weakness worse..(and that is also how I know that I need to use more hormone cream, to raise estrogen..and symptoms improve. Infact I can't live without it.) I use pregnenolone cream to raise my estrogen,by the way.
Wow, thank you so much for sharing your story and experience! Dr. Gersh speaks on hormone therapy for women as well which may be something to consider as well. We can't wait to hear what you think of the whole episode! 😊
I so enjoyed listening to you. What I would like to know that wasn't addressed is if you were taken off hormones decades ago when the nurse's study came out that hormones were bad can you be put back on hormones in your seventies. I exercise and eat pretty healthy but suffer from chronic insomnia since the onset of menopause. In addition like you stated I'm more anxious and suffer from digestive issues. My lack of sleep (lucky to get 5 hours of sleep and that with sleep medications) is truly a big problem which I refer to as a curse! Prior to menopause I was a really good sleeper! I will be buying book when it comes out for sure. I do have osteoporosis and get Prolia shots for that. Eating healthy and excising gives me some control but without proper sleep I am worried about it taking a toll on me in the future. Is it too late to get help through hormone replacement? Thank you!
Thank you for this ... excellent info ... I had a full hysterectomy 2008 and was on estrogen prescription for 10 years as the concerns for cancer.., but now listening this I feel I need to go back on an estrogen replacement. So I will reach out to my doctor .... do you have any recommendations of what estrogen replacement?
Thank you for this information....I was told by an endocrinologist that I was too old (68) to start hormone therapy again - cancer concerns. I definitely have the Belly Fat issue (the visceral fat)...and terrible sweating issues (hair dripping wet). Am embarrassed by it. I listened to a metabolic masterclass (Otto's) and was told that supplementing with DIM 200-400 mg and also Broccoli sprouts (not daily) would help. I ordered both 2 months ago and can say I feel so much better taking 1 capsule of DIM (300mg) with a glass of water as soon as I get up. Can you comment on this?
This was fantastic. Wish every woman would listen.
Thank you for your lovely feedback!😊
