    Undoubtedly, it is these competitions that should become the speed climbing. Present speed climbing is the sport of athletics discipline.

    I appreciate the coverage, and I know you are only using provided footage for these, but I sure wish the camera work was better.
    It is VERY hard to see how the competition is shaping up when some idiot thinks zooming in on one person from directly underneath helps the viewing.

      Completely agree, it’s really the only bad thing about this video! Maybe if they had a static shot that showed the whole wall, which remained as an inset?

      Counterpoint: I like when you see how the athletes climb more closely and do not care about who wins too much. I think the best would be a wide angle throughout the climb and a bunch of small zoomed-in highlights afterwards, when the next athletes prepare.

    Putting the two finalist in the thumbnail spoils the event

      not unless you know they won if you don’t know they won then you just assume they’re just 2 of the people competing yk? your comment spoiled it for me actually😭

    What is the point in delimitating the routes if climbers use holds of any color?

  • @CaseyKonstanz

    Anyone know if they gave the women's route a grade as well? I didn't see one in the women's video compilation but here they mentioned the men's was 8b.

      Yes they did, they said it's a 8a

    • @pants1359

      I only rly boulder and an 8b is a v13 converted. i mean i know these guys are gods but that cant be right i dont think you can make a v13 look that easy

    • @Steve-dv4hy
      @Steve-dv4hy 3 месяца назад

      @@pants1359Boulder grades don't really convert like that. 8b sport is way easier than 8b boulder. 9a is the hardest boulder grade in the world, only 6 people have bouldered 9a. Hundreds (thousands?) of people of climbed 9a sport. 8b sport, depending on a lot of factors, probably has a v7-v10 crux sequence.

    • @pants1359
      @pants1359 3 месяца назад

      @@Steve-dv4hy yeah I've sorta figured that out the more I've gotten into the sport. Do you know why that is? I can't find a source explaining the reason and it seems like an incredibly convoluted and stupid system.

    • @Steve-dv4hy
      @Steve-dv4hy 3 месяца назад

      @@pants1359 No idea. Mapping the difficulty of sport and boulder to a common system would be tough though. Because a 5.14c (8c+) like Southern Smoke is just a pump fest of stacked v6's (6C+) and I Scream is also 5.14c but it's pretty much just one ludicrous v13 (8b) start then cruise.

    I think that 8-th grade has the only roof section. The part before the roof section must be much more easier. All of 16 competitors (8 men and 8 women) climbed 8-grade route by on-sight faster than two minutes - strange enough.

    • @rdtarcade7644
      @rdtarcade7644 9 месяцев назад +5

      they get a couple of tries before so its not on-sight

    So is there a limit to how much they can use the women's holds? What's to stop them from just climbing the womans side entirely lol I would imagine, given the height and power difference, that would be a huge advantage

    • @SwoopWoW
      @SwoopWoW 4 месяца назад +4

      They have to clip in on their side, which would be a lot harder to do if they are climbing entirely on the woman side.
