I believe it is going to go down in Jazz & Music history as the best ever for this age and in my opinion the best rendition of this song ever created Screamin Jay included. It will be revisited for Decades and will remain relevant for Generations to come. Anyone who discovers this performance for the first time today or a 100 years from today are going to be as amazed and astounded as everybody has been to this point. This was a demo she was asked to do of an original by Brandon Lowry aka Baby FuzZ. She was the first to record it then he later recorded it, thus the reverse cover. She's basically been a star since she was 7 years old. First and foremost, she is a jazz singer but has the ability to sing any genre. She also does all of her own musical arrangements. Her early influences are Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, and Etta James to name a few. Her love of jazz came from her grandmother playing jazz music around her when she was young. She entered and won Norway's Got Talent at the age of 8. At age 13, she was invited to participate on America's Got Talent: The Champions in 2020. She shocked the audience and the judges with her rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. I have watched and listened to her in awe since she released her first video on RUclips, and what has been evident to me from the start is that she sings with total conviction, despite the fact that she is far too young to have experienced the events suggested in the lyrics of the song she has chosen to sing. But it is not only that, for strange as it may seem is the even more remarkable fact that she can convey the appropriate emotions within those lyrics to her listener. Angelina was 9 years and 2 months old when she performed this song. It is her tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, who wrote and performed the song in 1956 (50 years before Angelina was born). She based her arrangement on his original performance, although she discarded all the theatrics and allowed her voice and body language to tell the story. The song has been covered by many singers over the years, but to my knowledge, Angelina is the only one who has sung in the same style as the original. There are many things I found particularly worthy of note in this video. Some I recognised immediately and those I missed were brought to my attention by the more observant Angelina fans (her Angels) and I thank them for letting me know what I had missed. (a) Angelina finishing writing last minute changes she wanted and handing them to the Music Director, who smiled. (b) A brief glimpse of Mery Zamani, Angelina's maternal grandmother, a well known and respected Iranian Artist and poet who was also a child prodigy. (i) At the end, when she sings I Doooont Caaaaare, she employs TWO separate and distinct vibratos to the word care, a wide one to start the word and a tighter one to close the word (j) The instant transformation from "performance" mode to that of a pensive child, possibly wondering whether she could have done better. I comment on the "pensive" child because Angelina has an incredible work ethic and seeks to perform every song in a way she considers will bring out all the emotions within the lyrics and melody. (k) Perhaps the most remarkable is that despite her tender years, she sings with such total conviction that her authenticity is never in doubt. It is easy to believe that she has experienced the events described in the lyrics. It is not only her voice that is mesmerising, it is also her facial expressions, and the way she uses her hands and body. Her stage presence is electrifying. Angelina has been referred to as the "Queen of Jazz", "The Barefoot Princess", "The girl with a thousand voices". All of them are true, but I prefer the nickname I gave her after listening to about six of her performances. For me, she is "The Chameleon of Song", for as a chameleon is able to change its colour to match its surroundings, so Angelina is able to change the "colour" of her voice to accurately match the needs of the song to reveal the emotions within the lyrics and melody. Even more remarkable is her innate ability to communicate those same emotions to her listeners.

Her Dad's brother(Michael Astar), became her agent and manager. At the time of this taping, she has been working with them for close to a year. The band members call her "Boss." 9 years and 2 months... And a literal Masterpiece. Don't sweat her age, she's been singing at a professional level arguably since her first performance on Norway's Got Talent at Age 7. By 10 years old her voice is indistinguishable from an adult. She has about 180 or so songs on youtube.. And many people can honestly say she has 50 or more in there top 3 favorites... Cause it becomes impossible to rank them, they are so good. She's now 6 foot 1 inches tall and has just turned 17. She is sporting super model good looks and might just be one of the greatest vocalist ever to walk this earth. And as an added bonus, she is a down to earth good soul with a heart of gold.

AJ don't play. We get the most stunning, amazing performance of a 9 yr old of this Jazz standard ever created. I believe it is going to go down in Jazz & Music history as the best ever for this age and in my opinion the best rendition of this song ever created Screamin Jay included. It will be revisited for Decades and will remain relevant for Generations to come. Anyone who discovers this performance for the first time today or a 100 years from today are going to be as amazed and astounded as everybody has been to this point.
Think of the children who will be inspired by this one performance in the decades to come. This is an Iconic performance and will always be Iconic. At age 7, she auditioned for Norway's Got Talent with Billie Holiday's version of "Gloomy Sunday." The video of that audition quickly went around the world, gaining millions of views. She was already 8 at the show's end where she performed George Gershwin's "Summertime" in the Ella Fitzgerald style and won the show with 46% of the vote out of 10 finalist acts---all much older. At age 9 she wrote a book about her 6 year old experience (there is an interview where she reads from her 6 yo diary) that prompted her decision to always perform barefoot until all children in the world had shoes and other needs met, and to keep alive the memory of the girl to whom she gave her shoes. Just turned 17 this month. 9 here, a year after her Norway's Got Talent win at 8, singing jazz and blues. Exactly, this is her personal rearrangement of the mid 1950s original. She loves to pay tribute to earlier artists that have been an influence on her vocal development. This is her tribute to Screamin Jay Hawkins. It's worth listening to his original for reference. She took his more theatrical piece and made a serious jazz song from it with much of his style. From watching some of your other reaction selections and how deeply you look at them I think you will appreciate the quality of her reverse cover "I'm Still Holding Out For You". This was a demo she was asked to do of an original by Brandon Lowry aka Baby FuzZ. She was the first to record it then he later recorded it, thus the reverse cover. Nice first reaction here! She's 9 when she did this video. Oh boy, you are going to be bombarded by her fans called Angels that will fill you in on this music prodigy with an old soul from Norway. She's basically been a star since she was 7 years old. First and foremost, she is a jazz singer but has the ability to sing any genre. She also does all of her own musical arrangements. Her early influences are Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, and Etta James to name a few. Her love of jazz came from her grandmother playing jazz music around her when she was young. She entered and won Norway's Got Talent at the age of 8. With her new found fame, she used it to appear on many shows from abroad and help raise millions for the less fortunate children around the world. At age 13, she was invited to participate on America's Got Talent: The Champions in 2020. She shocked the audience and the judges with her rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. She received a standing ovation from all and got the Golden Buzzer from judge Heidi Klum to go straight to the Finals. Her performance went viral and even the group Queen responded on Twitter by saying, " Wow, what a rendition!" Not only that, but she received the copyrights for her version of this song from Queen, which makes it hers now. She did not win, but her fan base grew and expanded her popularity.
Now 17 years old, living in Los Angeles, and is signed with Republic Records, whose clients include Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, and Drake to name a few. When she was 6 years old, she was traveling with her family in Iran where she met a shoeless homeless girl in the streets that was about her age. She made money by weighing people. After speaking with her for a few minutes, Angelina noticed the scars on the girl's feet and asked the girl what her dream is. The girl said she wanted to be a doctor but she couldn't because she had to make money for her family. Angelina did what came natural to her, she gave the little girl her shoes and told her to not give up on her dreams. Since then, Angelina has performed barefoot in honor of that little girl and to those who are less fortunate around the world. She keeps this promise to this day. She is the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina wrote and her Grandmother illustrated a book about why she sings barefoot. She was on a trip to Iran where her grandmother is from and met a street girl weighing people for money. Angelina sat and talked with the girl. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, a doctor but that it could never happen. Angelina told her to never give up hope. The girl complimented Angelina on her shoes and Angelina noticed her scarred bare feet so she gave them to her, and the little girl told Angelina she would pray for her every day. Angelina sings barefoot to this day to remind herself (and the world) that there are still children in need. All book proceeds go to charity.
This production demonstrates how Angelina's family had the means and wisdom to accommodate the gift in Angelina. From years earlier Angelina was getting much attention and help with professional musicians, studio & video experts.

Thank you for discovering Angelina. She is well worth every nanosecond you spend on her. I have watched and listened to her in awe since she released her first video on RUclips, and what has been evident to me from the start is that she sings with total conviction, despite the fact that she is far too young to have experienced the events suggested in the lyrics of the song she has chosen to sing. But it is not only that, for strange as it may seem is the even more remarkable fact that she can convey the appropriate emotions within those lyrics to her listener.
Angelina was 9 years and 2 months old when she performed this song. It is her tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, who wrote and performed the song in 1956 (50 years before Angelina was born). She based her arrangement on his original performance, although she discarded all the theatrics and allowed her voice and body language to tell the story. The song has been covered by many singers over the years, but to my knowledge, Angelina is the only one who has sung in the same style as the original.
There are many things I found particularly worthy of note in this video. Some I recognised immediately and those I missed were brought to my attention by the more observant Angelina fans (her Angels) and I thank them for letting me know what I had missed.
(a) Angelina finishing writing last minute changes she wanted and handing them to the Music Director, who smiled.
(b) A brief glimpse of Mery Zamani, Angelina's maternal grandmother, a well known and respected Iranian Artist and poet who was also a child prodigy. She was the person who recognised Angelina's talent at an early age and exposed her to all the old time jazz singers.
(c) The candle with an image of Screamin' Jay Hawkins on it.
(d) The smile on the face of the Bass player.
(e) How she rose on to her toes on the last occasion she sang "...because you're mine"
(f) The fact she occasionally refers to her written notes on the music stand. Possibly to remind herself of the last minute changes she wanted.
(g) Her unwavering passion throughout the performance. Evidenced by her facial expressions and the way she uses her hands and body to emphasise the direction of the song.
(h) The way she takes a breath just before she starts the last phrase (I don't care.....) and that breath lasts the whole of that sustained note. A child of that age should not have the ability to hold a note for that length of time.
(i) At the end, when she sings I Doooont Caaaaare, she employs TWO separate and distinct vibratos to the word care, a wide one to start the word and a tighter one to close the word
(j) The instant transformation from "performance" mode to that of a pensive child, possibly wondering whether she could have done better. I comment on the "pensive" child because Angelina has an incredible work ethic and seeks to perform every song in a way she considers will bring out all the emotions within the lyrics and melody.
(k) Perhaps the most remarkable is that despite her tender years, she sings with such total conviction that her authenticity is never in doubt. It is easy to believe that she has experienced the events described in the lyrics. It is not only her voice that is mesmerising, it is also her facial expressions, and the way she uses her hands and body. Her stage presence is electrifying.
Angelina has been referred to as the "Queen of Jazz", "The Barefoot Princess", "The girl with a thousand voices". All of them are true, but I prefer the nickname I gave her after listening to about six of her performances. For me, she is "The Chameleon of Song", for as a chameleon is able to change its colour to match its surroundings, so Angelina is able to change the "colour" of her voice to accurately match the needs of the song to reveal the emotions within the lyrics and melody. Even more remarkable is her innate ability to communicate those same emotions to her listeners.

After she had won Norway's Got Talent at age 8, (all performances went viral on RUclips) she with money from her parents, hired this band and two young men guitarists to accompany her on many of her covers. Her Dad's brother(Michael Astar), became her agent and manager. At the time of this taping, she has been working with them for close to a year. The band members call her "Boss." Not because she is that but because they realize just how important this lady will be. Here we are 8 years later and it is completely true. She has always arranged all her own music. She is contracted to Republic Records now but not yet fully promoted as her family has required that she finish school and become mature enough to handle the pressures of a record contract and label. An award winning artist gave her the lyrics for guidance on how to sing it. Its her song essentially. Her mother didnt want it released bc of the suicide message over a lost love. 8 years old, Won Norway‘s got talent when she was seven.
Won NGT at age 8.
9 years and 2 months... And a literal Masterpiece. Don't sweat her age, she's been singing at a professional level arguably since her first performance on Norway's Got Talent at Age 7. By 10 years old her voice is indistinguishable from an adult. She has about 180 or so songs on youtube.. And many people can honestly say she has 50 or more in there top 3 favorites... Cause it becomes impossible to rank them, they are so good. She's now 6 foot 1 inches tall and has just turned 17. She is sporting super model good looks and might just be one of the greatest vocalist ever to walk this earth. And as an added bonus, she is a down to earth good soul with a heart of gold.

Angelina Jordan Astar (two first names) was just nine here and was inspired by the original of Screaming Jay Hawkins which she takes to a whole new level. She is incredibly talented and also works very hard to get better and better and better. She just turned 17 and should be dropping an album this year.
She entered the lime light at age 7 when she entered Norway Got Talent and which she wond (the grown up version no less!). Since she has done many magnificent things and is being praised by all the industry greats. She performed for Nobel Prices winners, for world leaders, performed for Quincy Jones’ 85th birthday party (and he compared her to Michael Jackson’s talent) and much more. She also entered America Got Talent at age 13 and went viral with her interpretation of Bohemian Rhapsody was highly praised by Simon Cowell and also Queen themselves. This is just a very short summary of her laurels :-)
You might have noticed the camera zooming in on her bare feet. When she was 6 she travelled the Middle East and met a poor girl in the streets. The girl had bare, scarred feet and Angelina gave her her boots. Since Angelina has performed barefoot both in remembrance of that girl and to raise awareness of the many poor kids :-) She is not only an inspiring artist but also an inspiring person.
She has many covers on RUclips, TikTok and Instragram. Has a bunch of songs on Spotify as well. She also has 5 original songs and 2 originals through collaboration. You could go in any direction you’d like: see her recent werk, go historical and see her performances at Norway Got Talens, go hysterical and watch her biggest performances, pick and artist or genre you like and listen her covers in that genre or go for her original work.
