We found that we needed to put a 2x4 on top of the mat before smacking with the sledge hammer. Without it, the prongs would bend over and cause the mat to dimple. That said, great idea. We ended up using smaller mending plates than you show and they probably don't work quite as well but were certainly easier to install. Thanks for the video!
Packaging: It came in a sturdy rectangular cardboard box that said Yoga on it. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxZkaD2JsPC-fUMkF3vxJ2echoiXZ3T9aM I didn't like how it let possible package thieves know what might be contained inside but great packaging otherwise. The yoga mat came rolled up in a plastic wrap, which was fairly easy to remove.Contents: I got the green yoga mat and it came with an adjustable velcro carrying strap already secured to the mat. There was also a warranty card. There was a bit of a plastic smell coming form the yoga mat but it quickly dissipated after using it once.I've only used the yoga mat twice so far but I am loving it. It's such a game changer to my work outs, especially compared to my bed and floor, haha! I can confirm that it very thick, slip resistant, and comfortable. i didn't look at the dimensions prior to buying the mat, but it is so much longer than I expected! Width is normal size in my opinion. I don't know if it really is tear resistant yet... only time will tell!
Wow great idea. I bought 6 mats today from Tractor Supply. I have them in the drive way baking in the sun. I pressure washed them with Simple Green and will leave them in the sun for a week or maybe two flipping them over half way to bake the other side. They reek horribly and I want them to hopefully off gas outside before I put them in my house and it smells like a tire factory until New Years. I will be going to Lowes to get these plates to hold them in place once I get them in the house. These things are gawd awful heavy to move around so I think they will be a great long term solution for a gym floor in my home. Thank you!
This is waaaaaayyyy simpler than the solution I came up with. I used 1x2inch and created borders all around the edge of the mats. I bolted then to the floor and the mats no longer move.... I feel like an idiot after watching this video.
You have saved me years of frustration!!! I was googling how to stop gym mats from slipping and BAM! This video came up and it did not disappoint! So simple but so perfectly effectively - best hack I’ve come across ever!!!
Instead of mending plates I used gorilla black tape, sticky-side up. I applied a line of tape (gluing only half of the width of the tape) along two adjacent sides of each tile, then positioned tiles so a side with no tape would fall on the tape on the side of another tile, just like interlocking tiles go together. My method takes more time and effort but does not destroy the tiles or make a noticeable bulge where the corners meet.
These mats are so awkward to move and sticky to the touch, how do they manage to move around so much once they're on the floor?! There is dark magic at hands here

Dude, first time lomg time. I been watching for a few years now. You are thriving in this current climate. Thank you for providing all this useful content.
I though this sounded awesome but I had no luck. The mending plates wouldn't penetrate the mats, so either my local menards has really shitty mending plates or my local farm and fleet had unreasonably sturdy mats
Thanks for the tip also worked well to hold together recycled rubber outdoor pavers and I've been stumped for awhile how to frame or tie those together. Tips transcending across all challenges of life.
@@LightAndShadow90 Nah man, Ezreal is never home, always exploring shit even during this quarantine, so I'm dumping him for strong men. Not for Strongman competition, for actual strong men.
This is the video I needed. I have 2 loose mats in my garage and they slip apart when I deadlift sumo - after tomorrow, they will not. Thank you Obi Untamed Kenobi.
Simply ingenious and thank you for sharing! I wish I knew about this a few years back when I installed my flooring; I've been constantly kicking the mats back together for far too long and now that is going to change :)
Also if you take the edges of your matts and shave them to a 45-degree angle you can get really tight seams where very little stuff will get down in the cracks.
Great idea 👍 I personally use black gorilla tape to keep mine in place. Maybe I'll get a couple of these and give them a try. My only concern is a possible bump under the mats where these are placed.
It’s amazing how many people Don’t do it this way… We do this professionally for 15 years along with outfitting commercial and home gyms… The fact of the matter is simple: you can use any tricks or tips you want for the seams. Tape, nails, these tack strips.. -they might help make a bad install look “not-quite-as-bad.” But in the end, it will still shift and will never line up on all 4 corners. Do yourself a favor and lay them out like bricks. You don’t even have to be precise and it’ll still look 5x’s better and the mats won’t shift around.
Flooring is all that has kept me from turning my garage into a home gym. Well, that and I work on my car in there. So... Now I know what I'm gonna be doing
This was way more useful than the last 999 home workout videos I’ve seen on RUclips lmao
you're EVERYWHERE !!!!!!
Shout out from Lord Alan? This quarantine just started looking alright.
Too funny - quarantine humor at it's best!
Great idea!!
Rogue Mending Plates - $49.99 for 4 pack. Expected ship date: 05/01/2020
They'll powder coat them so you know they won't scratch underneath the floor.
Is there a SoCal and Ohio variant?
Waiting for the Titan Fitness knock off version
still waiting for my order xd
It was a steal at $49.99 plus $20 for shipping. They took really good care of me.

I always think you say "train on time!"
That’s what I’m talking g about. What a great idea, I would have never thought if this approach in a month of Sundays. Thank You.
Exactly what I was looking for! I am putting together a home gym with stall mats in my garage, this will work perfectly!
Solving problems before I even encounter them! Thanks Mr Thrall!
Glad to hear a shoutout for BCD! Been watching him for years.
Cool, but do it in summer! As the tiles will dilate with warmth ;) ...or just leave some space between the rubber tiles and the walls.
Thank you for sharing. I am buying horse stall mats and mending plates today. Fortunately, home depot is right across the street from tractor supply.
This is perfect timing Alan. Installing my mats today. I love you.
I actually just did this in my garage gym. Found these when I was in home depot a few weeks ago for a different project. LOVE It.
Better info than I’ve gotten in the last 10 days of RUclips binging!!!
The 3/4” stall mats are the only way to go for garage gyms...and using these plates is that hack that you wish you knew day one lol.
Which mats do you recommend?
These mats are so awkward to move and sticky to the touch, how do they manage to move around so much once they're on the floor?! There is dark magic at hands here
Vibrations from dropping hundreds of kilos every day.
That, and hundreds of people who probably weigh anywhere between 50-100+ kgs walking all over them all day.

My jaw dropped when I realised the pure simplicity of this solution, my ocd is now cured xD
Thank you for the support. That is one mighty Flag.
I just cut some stall mats to install on a flat bed for a pickup. This will work great for keeping them all together. Thanks!
2 minute Tuesday? I last 2 minutes everyday of the week
Bro I been fixing mats since I was 16 u just changed my life
I've used the mats and the mending plates for years in my garage gym. They work great.
I love how your subtlety trolling Jordan with the title.
*Way better than using my wifes Tampax pads. They are super adhesive but this seems like it would work better*
THANK YOU! You have spared me so many headaches with my shifty stall mats.
This video just saved my life!!! Brilliant!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. The gaps between my mats HURT MY EYEBALLS!

Thanks for sharing a great idea! I will try it on my horse mats this weekend
If you know, I mean really know how useful this information is. Then it’s been a great journey to this point, happy gains friend…
great idea for horse barns too! YAY! Thanks!
Never had given this a thought... but need to do it now... thank you.
Holy smokes, such a simple solution. I’m always moving my mats back into position.
Thanks for the awesome idea! Works great! Got these at Home Depot for about $.36 a piece!
This is awesome, much better/simpler than screwing them all to the floor
0:47 I love my gym too,but blowing it?

Just finished doing this in the garage gym...awesome. Alen thanks for sharing that tip!
Was just bitching about this last night. Timely video. Going to get some today.
Just from the thumbnail I know what you were going to say - GENIUS!

Alan, thanks for this video man. Big help for my basement gym!
Such a good idea, where has this been the rest of my life
Just what I was lookng for!
I got a free Pacific Fitness DelMar. Just had to go take it apart and rebuild it. Been buffin up on quarentine 💪
I tried this and it was terrible. Made the corners stand up higher than the rest of the mat, and started moving after about a week. In the bin.
RIp showed me how to lube my bar now Allen shows me how to brace my rubber. What a day!!

Damn you're foxy dude 😆 beard, hair, marine, Danzig ... outstanding combination. Congrats on the bub! X

awesome, this is exactly what I needed. thanks for all the great videos!
Awesome solution-Thanks for sharing!
Awesome trick ! Currently building my own home gym !!
About to try this today… thank you sensei
Merry Christmas and happy new year to you too! :)
My handyman uncle got me to do exactly
this when I got my mats. 🙏
because I was wasting all of his gorilla tape
Best/cheapest idea for garage gym EVER!
Damn so easy and simple! Awesome tip and I’ll be doing this in my garage gym, thanks Alan.
Thanks for sharing - from Ireland
thrall means slave in swedish, also in old english i think, before it was flooded like up to 80% with french-latin vocabulary after the conquest
Great idea 👍 I personally use black gorilla tape to keep mine in place. Maybe I'll get a couple of these and give them a try. My only concern is a possible bump under the mats where these are placed.
Same concern here. How is the gorilla tape going for you?
Gave this a shot, but when hammering the stall mats down onto the mending plates, it just bent the prongs. Stall mats too tough 😂!
No joke have been looking for a fix for this for years. Was about to go buy some gorilla tape and pray it held
Love your work again
Wow, thanks. Excellent tip. Thank you!
Genius! I ended up using double-sided tape. This will suck if we ever move. But works wonders so far.
this is one of those things that I am just like why the f did I not think about that???? genius man genius!!!!
omg you have no idea how much my mats separating irritates me. Defiantly gonna try this out
I got two sheets of factory grade conveyor belt overlaying that sweet garage concrete.
Omg. I need this hack. Thank you!!!!!
Can't patent an idea that's already patented lol, but great idea! Going to home depot today :)
Happy Easter my friend.
I cannot get these things to get stuck in the rubber... Do I need a larger hammer or something?
Awesome! Also, stagger the mats so that you don't have a corner where 4 mats meet. (That's a trouble spot). Think brick laying pattern.

Ah man this is exactly what I've been looking for, I was gonna use tape 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ haha thank you!!
Paint them and slap a decal on 'em. The next shark tank purchase.
Amazing. Thanks Alan!
Love this! Thanks Alan
Yo this is legit hack, thanks!
Been waiting for a month for just one of these mats to finish my deadlift platform ....
Awesome thanks Alan!
