If I was the pilot I would want to be in the F-16 Fighting Falcon as they have proved themselves and their losses are less than the MIG-29 which many have been lost in combat. That is why so many are still in service and still being sold to allied nations.

the mig-29 can absolutely not beat an F-16 in a sustained turnfight the F-16 will rate around circles faster than the mig-29, to the extent that the F-16 will literally rate circles around the mig-29 is a sustained turn fight drags on long enough. thats what it was designed to do, win any 2-circle fight against any aircraft. a knife fight (guns only I assume) between the mig-29 and the F-16 depends entirely on which pilot manage to force the other to fight the fight their aircraft was designed for. If t he fight becomes a 1-circle fight (ie a rolling scissors), the Mig-29 will absolutely dominate, but if it turns into a 2-circle fight (aka a ratefight), the Mig-29 doesn't stand a chance.
More practically: In a BVR engagement, the F-16's speed will generally give it an advantage, it can loft missiles further and faster, and retain its speed better while defendin in a Fox-2, the Mig-29 holds the upper hand, its maneuverability allows it to "jam the WEZ" better, and allows it to point its nose exactly where it needs to to give any fox-2 the most advantageous angle. in a guns only/knife fight, it comes down entirely to pilot skill.

Oviously f35 wouldn't be good in a dog fight but in combination with F16 as a dog fighter. Could defeat the the Russian planes. Use f35 to shoot down the enemy at a long distance. The use the F16 in large numbers to when the dog fight.

It's down to the skill of the pilot , my guess is Russian pilots have the edge over American pilots , But in dogfight simulations done over the last ten years the mig29 always won .
As an American, I do believe the Mig 29 is a heck of an aircraft and believe it has a tactical advantage in a close quarters dog fight. Especially below say 200 knots, but the F16 is no joke. At the end of the day, I believe the pilots will make all the difference in an aerial combat. Of course, I was an American soldier not a pilot, I just knew numerous. Even with the M4, M16 and today the HK416, all these are fully capable and in the right hands lethal, but no more lethal than the AK47 but the AK has much more power, that's for sure. All this is just a soldier's opinion. Take care out there.
I believe the MiG-29 would have a major advantage overall, as its twin engine and twin tail design gives it the ability to yaw better as well as retain energy better in a turning fight. They are both about equally sized, but the MiG-29 has the advantage in physical design.

Updated versions have extremely capable avionics, most certainly superior to the US. However, Russia does not sell their MIGs with the latest avionics. India for example, updated the avionics with their own equipment and that was good enough to score a devastating victory against US Fs in a joint training exercise.

I saw a video showing the F-16 beating the Mig-29 in tight circle turn. They were both flying together.so if one of their statement in this video is proven wrong how many other things said are wrong? Well indian version of mig 29 is equipped with astra (bvr) missiles! they have a range of 110 km and at present they are about to begin astra mk2 trails ... which has a range of over 160 km! and they are also equipped with brahmos! So they are formidable and will win against f16s

CABIN PRESSURE PROBLEMS: Cabin is over pressurized leading ear and sinus pain to pilots that fly F35s. This is worrisome. This has caused mission aborts in more than 2 pilots.
SUPERSONIC FLIGHT ISSUES: in F35B and F35C If plane reaches Mach 1.3 for sustained periods at high altitudes, they sustain damage on their tails. Both on structure and stealth coating.
BATTERY FAILURE: In cold weather environments. This was noticed in squadrons located in Alaska, causing mission aborts.
POOR ENGINE THRUST: In hot conditions especially during vertical takeoff.

As an American, I do believe the Mig 29 is a heck of an aircraft and believe it has a tactical advantage in a close quarters dog fight. Especially below say 200 knots, but the F16 is no joke. At the end of the day, I believe the pilots will make all the difference in an aerial combat. Of course, I was an American soldier not a pilot, I just knew numerous. Even with the M4, M16 and today the HK416, all these are fully capable and in the right hands lethal, but no more lethal than the AK47 but the AK has much more power, that's for sure. All this is just a soldier's opinion. Take care out there.
I believe the MiG-29 would have a major advantage overall, as its twin engine and twin tail design gives it the ability to yaw better as well as retain energy better in a turning fight. They are both about equally sized, but the MiG-29 has the advantage in physical design.

The showdown will depend on pilot training and which variants of the F-16 are being used in the comparison. F-16 viper block III are particularly sharp.

Updated versions have extremely capable avionics, most certainly superior to the US.
However, Russia does not sell their MIGs with the latest avionics.
India for example, updated the avionics with their own equipment and that was good enough to score a devastating victory against US Fs in a joint training exercise.

@@siouneo152 ... well unfortunately F-16’s have only faced MiG-29’s twice and won both times over Serbia. The F-15 has been the big killer of MiG-29’s shooting down 6 over Iraq, 3 over Serbia with Israel shooting down 4 over Syria all for no losses!
Actually that’s not completely true, the biggest killer of MiG-29’s has been poor maintenance with over 2 dozen crashes attributed to that? That’s the biggest difference when you buy an F-16 from the US, you get a plane, training and maintenance. From Russia the MiG-29 is cheaper because you only get the plane and training ... maintenance is extra which is why there are so many MiG-29’s unable to fly today!??

I saw a video showing the F-16 beating the Mig-29 in tight circle turn. They were both flying together.so if one of their statement in this video is proven wrong how many other things said are wrong? They are both excellent planes and unfortunately as world events are playing out we will not have to wait long to see them both in battle against each other.
I saw that F 16 can't cope with MiG 29 manouverbility 😅
Both planes are awesome and legendary. But it all just comes down to pilot training. It makes all the difference.
