    These Tennis Tutor machines are very simply designed, built like a tank, and will not require battery replacements but for every 5-7 years, depending on use. I've had four different models over the past 17 years, and each operates as good today as the day I first bought them. Should parts ever be required, they are low-cost and readily available via Sports Tutor, eBay, or Amazon. Whenever I had any operating questions, I found the folks at Sports Tutor to be just a phone call away and amazingly willing to spend as much time as I wanted answering some of the most blasé inquiries I threw their way.
    This is a great video that shows not only a Tutor’s interior layout (most model’s insides look like this one) but just how easy it is to swap batteries (which is all I've ever needed to do). It’s rare to find anything built in the USA that is as durable as a Tennis Tutor machine. They are somewhat expensive from an initial purchase perspective but when that cost is spread out over years and years, well . . . , they are a bonafide bargain. This video is a few years old but I just happened to catch it today. So, well done Honest Product Review!

    Hey Andrea V, the TENNIS TUTOR is a wonderful design for longevity, durability plus way much more. This machine has been with me since 1996 and I have replaced the battery ONCE. Yes I will agree the replacement is NOT for someone that does not know the difference between a torx head or a torque wrench. I just plug in my machine after (not being used) a hiatus of 7 YEARS! The lead acid battery STILL has a full CHARGE! Yes I have kept it garaged and away from the "elements". Great hitting partner when coupled with Gamma NON-Pressurized Tennis Practice Balls. Wonderful trainer for beginners and advanced players!

    Followed the video in 2021. Worked fine.
    Needed a 1/4" 6 inch extension bar with 10mm socket and some Kroil penetrating oil to remove the corner nut that holds the battery down. Has to hold the bolt head while I remove and replaced the nut.
    Used bubble gum to hold the nut in the socket to replace the nut and removed the gum with a pair of needle nose pliers once it was reinstalled.
    Also put a little anti-sieze compund on all removed screws as some had started to rust.
    Managed to remove the ball feed disc from the spindle. Just remove the spring next to the aluminum blade and reset the feeder. Replace the spring and your and blade and you are good to go.
    Machine still works as designed. These things are tanks.
    Also if you buy batteries in sets of 4 it is a little cheaper per battery.

    If using 2 small batteries like the video does, BE SURE TO TAPE THE BATTERIES TOGETHER!!! The crossbeam support only secures one battery. The other battery can slide towards the front of the machine (where the balls exit) and SHORT on the metal cross beam during transport. It will cause a fire.

    I got lucky several years back and an employee at Batteries Plus agreed to change the battery.....at no charge in addition to the cost of the battery. I'm going to take a shot at it tomorrow am. I've done it once before and it was a bit more difficult than it should be. This video helps, btw.

    Great video, thanks for the battery links! I'm assuming we can get another brand that doesn't list that its specifically list the brand of tennis thrower. Just like with anything else, as soon as a manufacturer realizes they can attach their product to a specific higher ed product, BOOM price goes up, haha.

    one question: Is it possible to remove the internal batteries but just use external battery? I have been connecting the external battery to the charging port and working well. I wonder how I can remove the internal ones to save some weight.

    Yes this was very useful - I have taken out all you screws you indicated but the top piece that goes around with the balls will no come out - my machine works really well except the battery is dead but must be 20 years old - are there some other screws I cannot see? Thanks

    Thanks for the tutorial. Seems an incredible amount of work for what should have been a simple task. Bad design by TT.

      This is the most poorly designed product I have ever seen. Sadly, I did not know this until the Tennis Tutor Plus I bought had it's battery runout and need replacing. I hate this machine. I you are going to get one. Get one that works with a AC outlet near the court or just don't bother. $1500 down the drain.

    • @dankourny
      @dankourny 3 года назад

      And the replacement battery is $85 + $30 for shipping. For what are basically two generic 12V batteries taped together. What a ripoff. Made me hate it even more than I did before.

      I never put any of the screws back in that hold the top on after the first battery change. I can pop the top off whenever I want to clean it or change batteries. I never turn it upside down so who cares about all those bolts? my machine is 25 years old I bought it used 11 years ago and rebuilt. Tennis tutor is a great company that makes a quality product. I called them when I was rebuilding and half the stuff they sent was free or deeply discounted. Yes there are too many bolts but the machine runs perfectly even without them on so leave all or most of them off.

    Help
    The only thing not working on this machine that I have in the video is the rotor wheel does not spin
    Does anyone know if the rotor shaft should spin as soon as the unit is powered on and the feeding wheels start spinning?
    I assume it should be automatic, but my shaft stays stationary and doesn’t move it seems like there is power and continuity to the motor connected to the shaft?
    Ideas?
    I called tutor and they said unfortunately, they are not providing parts for this machine since it’s 30 years old

      A healthy battery can run the machine for 4 to 6 hours on a single charge.

    Hi. May I ask why the machine can work when plugged in with a charger, but has no response when using only the battery? The seller said it's a new replaced battery from last week.

    • @chuckq2998
      @chuckq2998 Год назад

      Have you verified that the battery connectors are securely attached to each of the batteries? ... at least one of the batteries has to be securely connected. With one battery connected you'll have sufficient voltage (12V) but not as much current as with two batteries in parallel. When connected in parallel ... same voltage output as one but more current.

      Did you ever figure out what happened with the battery? I read that while storing you should connect the charger so that the battery never fully discharges. Could this have been the issue?
