A bunch of inexperienced 13 yr olds in a tank that can barely go foward without breaking down, whose hull could break under the pressure of large caliber he... The thing with these german behemoths is that they were very unreliable and most were abandoned and didn't see combat
@Dude that likes the army 🇺🇦 No, you do realize the IS-2's 122mm hit the upper front plate so hard it actually broke the welds and caused the plates to fall off right? The whole myth of german engineering being the best at the time is nothing but a lie. The first tank in German service in WW2 that would have a severe impact was the LT vz.35 and vz. 38, both of which were Czechoslovakian, not even German. Genuine German tanks had massive issues with the automotive systems and the transmissions would break quite often. And the grown men you mentioned, near the end of the War, German command would throw children onto the frontlines, both infantry and tank divisions would consist of underage children. Those children were put into service against their own will, just as a large portion of the Wehrmacht.
Ive been There in 2015 Great museum, with awesome machines. Specialy this fully runnig King Tiger. What a Beast of tank for WW2, and even for today's standards. Its so massive, as any MBT today. No Wonder, the allies were Terrified by this Monster. The Ultimate Machine of WW2.
No need for childish, vulgar language. Most of the King Tiger tanks never even saw combat, as they were broken down so often. They were mechanical pieces of junk that had steering gear, suspension and driveline components frequently failing due to the metallurgy of the time not being adequate to withstand the extreme weight of this tank. They also had serious fuel leak issues. As a result, they were very poor tanks.
If Hugh Hefner would have created playmates a few decades earlier, i would have believed seeing pictures appearing together with those "other" centrefolds because to me personally the King Tiger is nothing but The playmate of the year 1944. What a sexy beast that still is, +70 years later..
Best thing about restoring these metallic rarities, and taking them out to play with them, is they cannot crash and burn, as so many irreplaceable Warbirds do.
Beautiful Panzer! The King Tiger is one of my favorites, and you can barely make out my #2 @ 2:39 in the background is a Panther all in RAL Nr. 18 Matt Earth Yellow. Oh yeah if anyone was inquiring about what is that wire-looking thing around the barrel, was they used it for camouflaging the tank with branches etc.
Sound recording for tamiya or WoT? I don't understand why this is less famous than Tiger 131. I mean, this is a King Tiger! I knew the name of this tank when I was like 6.
JPB UploadsUK Because there is only 1 fully operation Tiger I on the planet, Tiger 131. However there is about 9 fully operation Tiger II's still left and in terms of unoperation display models there are still twice as many Tiger II's as there are Tiger I's.
blackfrost300 Uh not from what I have seen. The only operational Tiger 2 is this one currently. The Wheatcroft Collection was said to be starting a Tiger 2 restoration with roughly 70-80% of the original parts available. There is one in Switzerland that is also rumored to be undergoing a restoration at some point.
I am a simple man... I saw a King Tiger, I click. Question.. so the intercom between the commander and the driver isn't working, need a 3rd person for hand signaling?
I think 120mm would have been adequate for the glacis plate, instead of 150mm. That would have been fifty percent more than the Panther (80mm). That would bring it more in line with the turret front (185mm). I don't know if the weight savings would have helped the drive sprocket.

I wish the in game sound would be closer to this. I'd really like to be able to hear the steel links of the tracks hitting hard surfaces like in this video!
probably the last running tiger 2 tank on earth. but maybe we re from swizerland will soon have one as well. because we got one in a museum and theyre about to overhaul it.
Jason Lor Are you talking about those etches below the turret, right under the 223? Because those are so that the fatter part of the turret doesn't get stuck while rotating.
I don't know what it is so special with that Tiger 131 when this beast is more impressive and also the only operating köning tiger. I have never seen those brits driving their tiger with speed like this.
Because Bovington is scared about the transmission and engine of Tiger 131. The early Tiger moddels had some reliability issues because they were pushed to the battelfield,as fast as possible, so those issues were only later noticed and fixed. Also there are no spare parts for Tiger 1s while there seems to be a lot more left for Tiger 2s.

This is absolutely beutiful
Or frightening when you know you were his ennemy....
Can you imagine the confidence of a crew driving that into battle against a bunch of Shermans !
Until it broke down
Or ran out of fuel, or was attacked by a P-47 or Hawker Typhoon.
imagine the confidence of a crew walking back to German lines after their Tiger II broke down.
I can imagine how confident they are when the Tiger next to them detonated after a Soviet Anti-Tank gun opened fire.
I am yet to see data which suggest that the Tiger II was as unreliable as many sources claim.
