Isopropyl alcohol isn't really dangerous to inhale a bit of. Spray paint uses oil based distillates and is immediately cancerous.

You should never use a washing machine to clean delicate electronics! The tumbling action is too rough. Always use a dishwasher. Comes out sparkling clean.

Tech Tip: if it wasn’t obvious, let all of the isopropyl alcohol evaporate before placing it back in your computer.
Exactly. Alcohol is still conductive liquid. It will fry everything if connected to electricity.

UPDATE: It seems this may not have been an April fools joke after all. I did check the upload date before I commented and for some reason it said it was April 1st, and now it doesn't (youtube must've had some weird glitch). I've also been informed that this is a legitimate method for cleaning GPU's; it just seemed so obviously dangerous for a computer part. I guess not.

It's fine to do...
But its literally how you clean electronics. My keyboard was saved like this 3 times already and still goes like champ. Any non metal brush wont damage anything even if u go ham on it and isopropyl alcohol is literally designed for electronics. It evaporates instantly hence the fumes comment in video.

Step 11: Check how many capacitors and resistors have fallen off while scrubbing the pcb.
They wont usually come off unless you scrub like really hard or it was loose beforehand.

For context: I had to clean my GPU so I could mount the EVGA Hybrid AIO on it.

@@autumn5592 correct, I had two Arctic AIOs on a crossfire setup, and went back to stock coolers in 2021 when they failed. This method works with a toothbrush, but I was admirably more delicate than this video shows.
Was mostly thermal silicon glue to remove.

Hidden step: Rinse the GPU with saline water. Let it rest by the beach for 48 hrs and not a single minute less. Results will be astonishing.

Water logging the PCB is a bad idea. The alcohol is perfectly fine as it evaporates quickly and doesn't absorb.

Fun fact. Isopropyl alcohol removes most conformal coatings for boards which removes all water resistance and makes oxidation happen faster! Happy cleaning!

I have a 3090 and a TR4 3990x. Also a 2070 (had two of those and sold the second to my friend for $700 it came with a whole miniITX build by MSI, it was in the Trident). I even upgraded his 1TB to 2TB and fresh installed windows on it getting rid of MSI bloat and that annoying partition that split the 1TB into two 512s. Apparently I could have just installed it on the back of the board since there was a spot for a second NVME. Oh well. I don't screw over my friends, it was technically used tech, so he got it at a used price. Also, he gives me a lot of free Veterinarian advice.

Isopropyl alcohol is safe as long as its above 90% and very commonly used to clean electronics. This video isn't a bait they just made it funnier for the lols.
this is really is the best way to clean motherboards and stuff because it evaporates extremely quick and is good at removing gunk and corrosion anyone who solders uses flux to help it flow n best way to get it off is to use alcohol u don't even really need 90% as long as it dryes all the way when done before you plug it in.

I have literally gotten drunk off ethanol fumes cleaning old, dying tech- I'd get up from my chair after 4 or so hours of cleaning and I'd immediately fight for my life against gravity and my own blood to not kiss my floor. Lovely stuff

Yeah the main thing was he used thermal putty which you can run it through like 10 times in an ultrasonic cleaner and it will do nothing. If you really want to get the crap off. This is your best, but you know who the hell uses thermal putty.

You do want to wick the alcohol with kimwipes or similar. If you do not, all the crud will just get stuck back to the board when the alcohol evaporates.
All electronics people should know this. We do not clean flux from a PCB by scrubbing and "rinsing", we scrub it to get it loose, then wick it away with kimwipes and a brush when it's still wet.

Been cleaning mine the same way for about 15 years now, literally the best way. Everyone is so scared when the factory solder on those components are alot stronger than you think. A toothbrush is doing nothing to them but cleaning

You should use acetone instead, much less rinse-and-repeat, just make sure you're in a well ventilated area.
Tip : use a belt sander to clean it with precision .
Lol, if you have worked with industrial machine maintenance and had to get the machine online in 10 minutes or replaced it, you do scrub like a fiend with 99% iso alcohol.
