- Unboxing the first grab bags for 2024 which is normally just Christmas, but the store near me had some other clearance items too!! I have been wanting the one thing for months but didn't get it because of the cost so I was super excited for this score. Did y'all get something you really wanted in your boxes?

Wow! You got some really great stuff that you could add to your Christmas tree or to wrapped Christmas presents to make them super festive…or you could add them the the garland on a fireplace mantle. All for just $10! Amazing! Thanks for sharing. 😊

When you held things up for the camera, the light reflected so much, we could not see what it looked like because of the glare on the plastic wrapping. The other stuff was ok. Unfortunately putting your hand behind the items didn’t help at all

Thanks Karen, the room is so dark and I had a lot of comments about it being too dark so I got a new light and this is my first time really using it. I think there's an adjustment though so I'll try to move it to the side or dim it. I also got a new camera and it has auto focus and zooms in and out which sometimes makes things blurry so I read a tip to put my hand behind so the camera knows what to focus on. I appreciate the feedback because it helps me know what to adjust for y'all.

I love that Michaels does these too even though some say it’s a bunch of junk, I see so many videos of retailers cutting up stuff and throwing it in dumpsters, could you imagine the waster that would be saved from stores doing grab bags and how much it could help families if it was clothes, blankets, etc.
When I add up the cost of my box, I do 90% off because all those items went to 90% off
I do too. But even at 90%, it’s still a steal! All those bath bombs for $10?? Those things are expensive!
Exactly, that's why when I saw them through the handle I figured just one little box was of the bath bombs was worth the $10 so I was super excited that it had so many.@@diredachshund

I actually use a lot of it, when I'm posting crafting videos a lot of the time you'll hear me say this was in a grab bag. It does depend on what you normally make though, like I don't do jewelry so the jewelry making stuff will be passed to my coworker that makes jewelry. I do think it's better than them just destroying and throwing things out like other retailers though.
Yeah, I remember buying those boxes for five dollars and getting like $30 pictures in there and signs for the wall that were really awesome. Some boxes were hitting miss like always.

When you’re going through the first box, I thought oh what a disappointment and then that second box over $400 worth of stuff I was counting as we went along. That box was really good.
Definitely, I love the silver snowflake picks, those are up there on the favorites of this haul.

I saw another girl yesterday & she didn’t get even 1/2 of the number of items. I felt so bad for her. A lot of the items were broken. I use as much as I can and I make gift bags with the kids stuff to hand out. I don't know what to do with all the potted poinsettias so I was thinking maybe a retirement community could use them for center pieces or something. What's crazy is sometimes you try to give it to places and they say they can't take it. Anywho, I think it would be really cool to have like a sip and swap though where us crafters could meet and swap stashes.
I never saw half of those items at Christmas. I would have bought the embroidery stickers

I came to say the same about the lighting issues, I had a hard time seeing and enjoying the items. 😣😣
Just a friendly tip, you need some sort of light diffuser to stop the lighting blow outs and glare. You can purchase one, but you can instead easily make your own by just hanging a white sheet of thin copy paper directly in front of the light source diffusing the light evenly throughout the lighted area. You will need to test and adjust the sheet of paper from very close to the light source, to further and further away to get your desired light diffusion. Just remember to make sure the item you are using to diffuse the lighting is somewhere directly between the light source and yourself/the objects, to properly diffuse the light and stop the glare. I've also seen people hang tulle or a very thin white sheet over the light source(s) as another option. You can search for DIY light diffusers for lots of other options too. 😀😀

Hi, new to your channel. Thanks for this. A FRICTION PEN is for fabric marking, it will erase with ironing or heat. Quilters and seamstresses use them to make erasable marks. It (the marbled-looking stones) are pronounced just as you said, how-light. Why can’t I ever get these boxes! Ha ha. You’re a peach ❤
Thank you Pam, I've seen fabric marked prior to being altered and it always looked like chalk so that's cool to know. I can actually use that for helping put a line of fabric I cut for crafts YA!!! Thank you for confirming the pronunciation on the stones also, they are pretty and reminded me of Wilma Flintstone. I appreciate you :)

It depends on the item, most of it I put in my craft stash, if it’s surplus or something I can’t use my town has a freebies site where we post unwanted items for free to neighbors. The kids stuff I make grab bags with and hand out when the fairs come to town. If someone on youtube says they want something and I won’t use it I give the option of contacting me so we can arrange for them to get it, youtube recently invited me to open a store so I will start adding those items there in the near future for low prices since I don’t pay much for them.
Just curious: how often does Micheal’s have sales like this? I have never seen any boxes in person or notifications in my email.
Quarterly and I post a short the day they come out for most people so you’ll see if you are a subscriber

Definitely, I was so excited to see the shot box and I love the picks and florals. I was telling my Mom that the gray and black florals would make a cute Tim Burton inspired wreath.
I told my mom the same thing, I didn’t see a lot of this before Christmas just like the big stickers, I didn’t see them until they were with 90% off stuff and even then didn’t see the gingerbread or the polar bear.
Man I wish I had a Michaels near me! The closest one is 4hrs away! Here in Maine things are far n few between lol

It should be most Michaels, ours is not in a low income area, but my stepmom is in a low income area and both have boxes. I always post a video short when the boxes are available most places, you can call the stores they will confirm if they have them.

The camera is just on the other side of the box because my craft room is small, I didn't realize about the flap until I saw a couple comments so I'll try to make some space to push it all down in the future.

Yes, the boxes are $10 and they are a mystery so you never know what you'll get.
I get so annoyed when I hear people are cutting open boxes or demanding to know what is in them or bad mouthing Michael’s b/c they don’t like the stuff in them! When you are buying a box knowing it’s full of clearance items, and you are only paying $10, I can guarantee that everyone is keeping or giving their friends or family at least $10 worth of products so what’re you complaining about? Everything after that is just a bonus! They end up with several hundreds of dollars of products and they are. Practically spitting in anger that they wasted their time and their $10 buying this! And how dare Michael’s have increased their box price?! There was one year where the boxes were being posted everywhere and they were filled with $1000’s of products-the first Christmas after Covid- but Michael’s has says they way over ordered that year-so they had a ton of stock to get rid of. They are more careful now with their ordering. I’m sure it will happen again but I really hope the grateful people like you scoop up all the deals and leave nothing for the greedy people who expect to be getting all high end items for free.
Agreed, I don't want their negativity and ungratefulness to stop this great thing Michaels does. Especially when there are so many other stores that cut up, destroy items and/or just trash them when they don't sell. I would love to see more retailers do grab bags instead and I will definitely not complain about the increase in the price when you are getting these big boxes full of stuff. I sort everything after my unboxing and if it isn't something I can use, I post it to our local freebies Facebook site so my neighbors can have it if they can use it. As a crafter, I like the challenge of coming up with new ways to use otherwise unwanted items.

Their items are so overpriced! No wonder they have so much left! But even at a dollar a piece, of course, you did well.
The manufacturers do have the suggested retail pretty high, I think that’s why items are normally 30%-40% off even before clearance. I like that the boxes because I feel challenged, creatively, to use the most items I can.

When I'm unboxing it's real time and my true reaction and thoughts, they only thing I cut out is moving boxes around. When I unbox, I do it as though my friends and family are there since they watch and get the boxes too. I'm in no hurry, it's more about sharing the experience than rushing through just for content.

Just trying to be helpful, but everything you held up to the camera that had cellophane on you couldn’t see anything. And maybe you should show those small things a little closer because we couldn’t see those either. At least you couldn’t tell what it looked like.
I appreciate the feedback, I had someone else mention the same thing and everything was so dark in previous videos that I bought a new light but it is really bright lol. I did see there's a switch on the back so I should be able to either dim next time or maybe if I put it off to the side. Feedback should always be welcomed because we're all trying to improve :)

Thank you for your feedback, there was a glare which is why it made it harder to see but I am sitting 3 feet from the camera. I have received that feedback and learned some about this new light to help for next time.

I didn't realize, the camera was just on the other side of the box so it was a little tight.
Cant watch this. Very disappointing.. Box blocking view inside box and when you hold up lighting glares on many items so unable to see. No need to watch.
