:-D Totally. But on the other side, most American men are really tall(er than Europians), so maybe that's why they think the beds were small.
Actually, a new study shows that most Middle- and Northern Europeans are in general taller than Americans. Southern Europeans are much smaller though.
afhdfh I didn't know that. My experience shows the exact opposite, but ok, maybe they should make longer beds now around here, then. :-D
And yes, I'm kiiinda more to the south, so for my country that's probably the case.

In Southern Europe beds can be rather small, the people are generally way shorter than Northern Europeans as well (I know from experience, I’m Northern European, 1.80 m. tall and I have issues with those small hotelbeds!)

Guys... "Europe" is not like a country...I'm Danish and Italy is just as foreign to me as it is to you... hell, Finland is just as foreign, and it's pretty damn close in culture and distance.
MaMastoast Yeah I live in Finland and Denmark is also quite foreign to me. Never been there, but would like to visit some day. I'm a finnish/swe, so basically my native languages are Swedish and Finnish, but that won't help me much in Denmark. ;) Thankfully most people know english.
DaisyDen Aaah I woudlnt say that. If you're in copenhagen some people understand swedish, and a knowledge of swedish will hep you with with danish :)

DaisyDen Yea, its even easier with norwegian and danish because almost all words are the same, only pronounced/spelled slightly differently. Swedish however has a bunch of words that do not occour in danish or norwegian.
This is because norway was part of the danish kingdom for a long time I think.

Yeah I remember in the states, after 2 weeks of take out I just wanted a salad or something with the color green in it. Finally found a place that served salad to go and when I sat down to eat it was just covered in so much sauce and dressing that it defeated the purpose.
Edit: Don't get me wrong, I loved the US, it was just challenging to find healthy take-out when I was on the go. :P
Oh well next time you order something be specific, because us Americans, go full out so yeah hope this helped- bye! :-)

Damien John Take out is never healthy... that's why it's take out and not restaurant food. Restaurants have lots of good food. Lol don't live off of take out.
Damien John Lots of restaurants are like "design your own meal" sort of places nowadays like subways and chipotle so there's that. Always healthy choices there.
Famantha sisher I wasn't living off take out, it's because I was constantly on the run for work. Subway and Chipotle are as much restaurants as McDonalds or KFC, they just offer healthier options ;P. The options are just much more limited over there is all. In Australia there's so many places that specifically offer healthy "take out", like Sumo salad, Zambrero's, Subway etc. In places like Sydney you can find privately-owned healthy food places on every other street. It was just way harder to find them in NY and LA.

the only problem with this is that you can't really compare europe to america because America is one country and europe is many different countries so not all things are the same in every country.... and I highly doubt that you have been in every single country in europe
if non Americans would actually take the time and study the US, they would find out that European countries are very similar to US States....the average US state population is the same or more than your average European country with only 9 European countries having more than any single US state.

icynok I'm not talking about the population or the size. I mean that you can't talk about Europe as one country. Cause there are huge differences between the countries in it. I know that there can be big differences between the US states but US is still one country with one leader. So what I mean is that it would be better if superfruit compared US to the different countries they where in.
it would be the same if Europe was just 1 country with 1 leader (a Stockpile of different cultures and different accents joined together) but it isn't, and it was Italy and Germany they visited I believe, which would be like you and a friend visiting California than visiting New York.
I understand you are speaking out of a nationality view but try to view it from a couple of intelligent Americans' view that grew up knowing 50 different countries are united as one and visiting Europe that is similar but with 58(including micros) different leaders.

coming from england and going to europe the sparkling water thing bothered me so much. Also most places in Europe aren't hot enough all year round to have ACs, it wouldn't be used most times in the year and would be a economic loss so..

I don't know where abouts you guys are but I live in London and we have doors on showers, trash cans everywhere, and convenience stores do have pretty much everything… and we don't have air con because it's cold and rainy

***** I think the same would be when Europeans think of America. Areas of America are vastly different, not only in culture, but in other ways too...and it's one country. This is also the same in Canada (where I live). I think it's safe to say this applies to any place where people live. :)

From my experience. Best Part about Europe: The women are nicer and aren't as entitled as the women in the U.S. Worst Part about Europe: Having to pay to use the restroom. (Something that doesn't exist in America).

European countries are often very different to one another. Where I'm from (the Nordic region), we probably get just as easily confused when travelling south in Europe as an American would. :)
In Ireland we don't have air conditioning because its a very cold country and so we have heating 😋😋😋😋❤❤

I know what you mean! I’ve been to Europe several times, mostly staying in people’s private homes. You mostly talked about England. I really enjoyed England, but it also drove me a little nuts. Terrible showers, and from my perspective, FREEZING! A wet cold that just cut through me. All I had to do was SEE the white cliffs of Dover, and I’d start to get sick. Since I was there to sing, this always did a number on my voice, which I HATED! More baths than showers. Spigots that don’t join together, so you have to deal with ice cold or boiling hot, you rarely get a mix. It was hard to find still water and even harder to find ice, and I am an ice junkie. The last time I was there, I brought a container of microwave popcorn from home. It was shocking to them - my friends had never experienced this before. I ended up leaving what was left to them because they loved it so much. I LOVE Cadbury chocolate. Chocolate made in the USA is awful by comparison to almost anywhere in Europe and Great Britain. I was there during Obama’s first election, and I wanted him to win so badly. I tried to stay awake for Election night, but I couldn’t. When my hosts woke me up the next morning, they had huge grins on their faces and said, “You have a new President!”! We did some sightseeing that day, and I felt like a celebrity! I had people hearing my accent and running up to me, all excited and asking if I was happy - they were thrilled for the US, and I basked in all the good feeling in the air. It was an amazing time.

Oh my gosh you both are right on on on everything you shared! I went to Spain and Italy and the beds were small and hard; the shower only had half a door, no public trash cans and the weird restaurant water that you have to pay. Love you guys!

I've lived in the US for about 6 years now and I still can't get used to the serving sizes. They give you sooooo much food in most places that I can never finish it
But you know what is funny to me? I live in the US and what I notice is the place that gives me the most of a serving is Chinese restaurants?? They PIIIILE that stuff on!

it's a little weird that they talk about europe like it's only one country. In the country i live in (in europe) we have trashcans all over and we see the difference between still and sparkling water just to name a few. there is a big difference between the cultures and traditions and stuff of the different countries in europe. not "hating" at all!! i love Scott and Mitch but the way they talk about it like it's a country is weird to me. xo xo
I think it's because most Americans are not very well-educated about Europe and its/world's history (other than American history), in general. Most of them think of "Europe" as a bunch of countries (but not as much as there actually are), who are pretty much the same and that they are like France, England and Germany (I just randomly picked these; in other words "well-developed western countries"), considering social ways, art and architecture, economics and all that jazz that has to do with "first world" countries as a general rule.
Plus, USA is a big country which only has two others to share a border with (one of which has two official languages and one of them is the same as their national one - English; yes, I'm talkin about Canada, obviously). So Americans are used to a very different way of perceiving these kinds of things, that's why they find it "so strange" and "unusual", because to them IT really IS. It's funny to us, Europeans, that they don't get it, but it's pretty logical to be that way. ;-)
you're right. But sometimes i feel like we also see America as LA, NYC and The South and then all the other states/cities get forgotten or we just don't know that much about them i guess. it is very different from european culture so i understand that they think of europe as one because i don't really know that much about their culture/history either but i just needed to express it so americans don't laugh at us if we think of the whole country as one kind of people or one kind of culture because that's exactly what they do but just without really knowing :)
about the borders:
in scandinavia we also don't have a lot of borders and we can pretty much almost understand each other even though it's completely different countries (except Finland though. that's very different...) i think that's maybe because we at some point of history were united as one single kingdom.

I actually believe I know more of the American history than most Americans know of European. And I don't even know THAT much, so it's really sad when you think about it, that they know so little (again - I'm not talking about "all" the Americans, just the majority).
About the borders - I wasn't talking about each European country but rather comparing the scales, because Europe is almost the size of the USA and they got only two other countries next to them, but here we've got 48 (or 51 if you count those countries that are half in Europe and half in Asia + Iceland), that are much more closer to each other and we have a longer history of interacting with each other, forming different alliances, etc. Not to mention how many differences we've got from culture to culture, all the languages and what not. That was what I was trying to point out here. ;-)
i'm sorry if it seemed like i thought you were arguing because i didn't :) i was just trying to add more to the conversation also. because i agree with what you say too. and i can totally relate to the thing about knowing more about their history than they know about ours. Maybe they should have world history instead of focusing so much on their own country? I don't know but i think it's a good idea :)

It's funny how I have the same opinion of America just the other way round. I'm European lol. I've been there like 7 times, one of them I was living for a year in California and out of my experience I felt:
- Air conditioning was to high (seriously I got sick)
- No trash cans in America!
- Dollars looked to me like monoply money aswell... haha I felt I had a lot of money in my poket when I really did not because 1 dollar is a bill while a euro is a coin so 8 dollars in bills versus 8 coins looked to me like a lot of money when it was not.
- No public restrooms, Actually Nothing is for free, even restrooms.
- Food Servings are too big and the quality is quite bad (I almost got angry that you can find the same dishes all over. It doesnt matter the restaurant you are in, food is almost the same.). Only exception is for "etnic food". That diverity was cool though.
- I was asking myself why all USA could not switch to celsius like the rest of the world! I got crazy figuring out miles and farenheit.
- I loved American Hotel beds. REALLY big and very comfortable. Here usually are small cause some hotel/hostels are quite small.because the buildings are old The atmosphere in US hotels is too old I think. I felt sometimes I was in the 60's or 70's. Im 24 btw.
- Too much cars, specially in Los Angeles. You need to use the car to even go buy bread.
- Public health is just another world. Altought is good, it was expensive while here is free.
- Service at restaurants was very fake. Altought good, it was annoying for me to have the waiter/waitress coming every single minute to ask if everything was ok, In Europe I will get your attention if I need something. Just serve the table that's it. I dont need anything else from a waiter/waitress.
- I loved the refill policy in almost every bar.
- I hated the alcohol policy. Quite weird for me and too exagerated. We have less alcoholism here were it is more legal than in the US. To drink you need to be 21 but to drive 16... haha
- I loved american working system. It allows you to get money quite fast and is quite easy to get a job or being fired. I really like the working system there.
- I liked diveristy there although the same wont work in Europe. Not only of people but of ways of thinking. Very liberal people with very conservative people. In Europe we dont have such extremes or at least not so much.
- Too much homeless. I saw too much social inequality. The state doesnt care about it citizens. I got that Impression. You could see very rich houses and very poor people. I haven't seen that much of a gap over here.
- America is good if you want to be an entrepeneur and open a new business.
- Públic administration was very slow. I needed almost a month to get my social security number.
- Americans are hard working people. I felt they were always working. It was true since they had a lot of bills. Specially college. Here college is free or at least not so expensive.
- Importance of Religion in America. Here religion does not apply. If someone tries to quote the bible or support creationism it would just be funny and people would look at you like crazy or would think you are joking. You would sound like someone from the 18th century. People here can be religious but not like in the US. I cant describe it haha
- Lots of handsome and cool people.Even though sometimes I felt boys where like gansters and girls a bit too slutty. But Americans are nice and talkative people.
This is out of my experience and of some of my European collegues in America who thought the same. althought it's hard to generalize since they are 300 million people.
I live in California, all restrooms I've ever seen are free... also there are trash cans everywhere :3 I'm in San Francisco btw, I'm not sure where u went
I was living in los Angeles for a year while visiting las Vegas several weekends. I have been living for a month in Boston and Hawaii plus also been for a couple of weeks to New York, 5 days in San Francisco and couple of days in Seattle and I have toured the midwest for 2 weeks (Phoenix, New Mexico, south of Colorado and south of Utah) and according to my experience thats the way I felt. Restrooms in America are for guest only and while on the gas station you had to pay to go.
In Europe depending on the country you have to pay them too (like in Belgium and the Netherlands, while in other countries such as Italy or Spain there are for free). It was hard to find trash cans when you where outside of the city center. Especially in a city like los Angeles where everything is made for cars not pedestrians.
You were probably eating at crappy restaurants. Go to like, a good restaurant such as (my definition of a good restaurant) the green flash in Sanibel island Florida, Gengis in Saginaw michigan, or Panda Express which is pretty much EVERYWHERE!!!
Panda express is a good restaurant???? lol I ate there and it was crap! And I've been to very fancy restaurants in the US btw... food is meeeh. I mean everybody knows US food is bad, The US use chemical products in the food that arent allowed in the EU. That makes the basic products taste weird or untasty. Compare it to France, Italy, Spain, Greece.... I mean no offense but quality of food is far greater over there.The US has great things but food is not one of them.

Hello my lovely gents :) Here to shed a little light on why yours are exploding (excuse the pun) but here in EU (even though the British electric outputs are different to the rest of Europe) we have a stronger circuit for power, so your lights which aren't used to soo much power being pumped through explode.
When I went to America it took me 3 times as long to charge my phone and it normally did and I was thinking: WHY IS THIS TAKING SO LONG. Until I found out the reason, we EU lot are impatient and need things charged faster xD
True, when i went to Europe my phone charged so fast and i was like "yes! can i stay here forever?!" haha

I wonder why none of the differences between European electrical outlet output and output in the US. When I lived in Rome as a student, I always had the adaptors which prevented the blowouts. They were a bit pricey but worth it. I miss Europe and I would go back in a heart beat.
I'm sure I'm not the first to mention it but they make adapters for plugs so you don't have to ruin your hairdryers and lights!

i've been to america once, to new york, and boy the airconditioning was extreme. outside it was super hot and when you got inside it was freezing.
When they started talking about the metric system I started laughing because apparently there are only 3 countries in the world that doesn't use the metric system and one of them is the U.S. and they're system doesn't make any sense to me.
Seriously I know that there is no link with the video but I just find it so surreal to read comments from people all over the world, if you're reading this can you tell me from what country you're from?

Im from Canada, and was in the states about a month ago. I found it SO weird that you could get wine/beer/coolers in the grocery store. Also american roads are very weird. You guys share 1 turning lane for both directions? To me thats an accident waiting to happen :p

The single turn lane may be more of a small town or a southern thing, I'm not sure. But I deal with it all the time, it's just something we get used to. As long as you watch the lines, arrows, and pay attention to oncoming drivers it's not really a big deal. I've seen two accidents from someone running a red light and none from a turn lane mix-up in the town I used to live.
I felt like i was spending play money when I was in america, and I found having so many low value coins frustrating! Why is there a 1 cent coin? ridiculous!
Gas stations charge people 1/10 of a cent sometimes ( in addition to whatever it was, 3 or 4 $ in the first place ) I see signs a lot, like $3.78 3/10 for sometimes xD

One cent aka the Penny is the lowest/base form of U.S currency. $3.78 is really three dollars and seventy eight cents. one hundred cents equals a dollar. Honestly the reason why the penny still exists is because Americans like to get exact change and all those pennies and other coins add up after a while.
There is no physical 1/10 of a cent, you are correct on that. I also know how American money works, I've lived there all my life ( no disrespect intended ) gas stations are the only places that specify down to 1/10 of a cent, but they do.
So $3.78 3/10 is 3 dollars, 78 and 3/10 (of a cent) cents

what you do in europe to go to the restroom is you go to a restaurant (preferably fast food because it's faster), you order something to drink or a snack and then you go to the restroom there.
or if you don't want to buy something from the restaurant to go to bathroom most of the time you can just pay like a euro (at least in France) and you can go :)

wel´l it depends.... they are right about smaller hotels and basic bathrooms. if it's bigger/finer it has doors, if smaller and basic, it has just a curtain or nothing.

Honestly, I'm sure they are well aware every country is different. They're Americans, not imbeciles. They were just stating some common things they experienced all throughout Europe. Like someone said, just because every country is different, doesn't mean they can't share similarities. Don't get so offended easily, I've heard just as many generalizations about Americans come from the mouths of Europeans. We're all guilty of ignorance.

Oh come on folks, you're telling me that you NEVER compare when you're travelling? It's a natural thing and by the way, "difference" doesn't mean "bad".
Just keep in mind that they are staying in hotels (yeah me too, I've got a glass in my shower but I went to a lot of hotels where there wasn't one...), that they are talking about Europe in general so if something doesn't match with your country, well they're probably not talking about your country in particular.
When I watched this video I was sure lots of people would react like they're offended, but maybe you should take it less seriously and just think that you would probably do the exact same things if you were travelling in the US... :)
