Asus is about to experience significant reputational damage not only for their products but also their shady business practices. You know what I'm talking about - or you should. Just be aware of how risky it is spruiking this brand right now.
Great first impression!! As a dad therefore now a casual gamer and playing with kids. The price of a 64gb steam deck + some additional storage still seems a much better option overall and for the price. I would rather spend the extra money on games. Although I do play Game Pass with the kids a lot.
Im kinda worried about 16gb of ram on this thing, fine for steam deck running steam os and running games at 800p but windows 11 uses a solid chunk of that and with a 1080p screen it will need more vram
@ZackSNetwork for how long though 4gb is set for the gpu and win 11 uses 3-4 with nothing installed so you have a few game launchers running in the background bc i bet almost no one quits them fully everytime they close a game you can run out pretty damn quick
I wish ROG put micro sd card storage expansion on the new rog phone. It's really annoying and fustrating that they haven't because I use my rog phone as an ssd.
I love the Steam Deck, so I was instantly curious about this, my biggest issue is the control layout... that right analogue stick from the reviews I've watched, looks to be just as uncomfortable to use as it is on the Switch. It's position which from the looks of things is only marginally better than the Switch, makes playing shooters and most 3rd person games unbearable. I wish companies entering this market placed a premium on ergonomics above all else, then performance and finally aesthetics for their products. The Switch (which everyone seems to treat as a template of sorts) to me did everything backwards, where aesthetics was the primary focus, then performance and finally ergonomics. To this day, it's impossible to play that thing for more than 15 mins in handheld mode without some kind of grip accessory. The Steam Deck is literally the only handheld you can play for hours (battery life excluded) out of the box without any accessories, it's not perfect but in terms of comfort for handheld PCs, nothing even comes close to it.
what's your experience with the abxy buttons? Any stickiness? I preordered it but the more I think about Asus the more I feel support will die within a year. Steam is weaker but not only is there huge fan support but Valve themselves have been on it with updates. Will Asus do the same? Or will they abandon it for the Ally 2 in 2024 or discontinue it all together...
Goodluck with Asus awful customer support. They got quite the scandal lately. GameNexus has been exposing how shitty they are with their defective MOBOs situation.
The price, I'd build a pc for the upgrade... If one had the space for it. But there is a need for these out there. Windows needs to upgrade there os to work with handhelds now. They are missing out on a good market for more people to migrate to windows. They could even make it dock more fluently through os like old windows Dell laptops have a docking system.

Now, does it help? Perhaps to a certain extent. But definitely it does need some work. Also, I am not one to bring my game device with me and operating remotely. I myself would rather play a game and using my 32" monitor. That makes it much nicer. Just my opinion.
I obviously havent held the Rog Ally, but I actually really like the feel of the Steam Deck. I love the grip and I dont want to get any skin for it becasue I love the stock finish, feels good on my man palms.
Can someone please confirm whether or not it has gyro. No gyro would be a no buy for me.
Only wish there was a thunderbolt to connect to any egpu as an option
Preordered this one :)
patiently waiting for a black edition, and upgrade version? lol
You never stated wattage you were playing on nor what profile you were playing on. Makes a significant difference my good sir
Use the control panel. It shows the mode like turbo which is 25W
I do notice the input lag in apex legends on steam deck. I’m not sure if they ever fixed it since I have not played it in a while. I did tweak it a bit but it’s unplayable against people who use mnk or external controller, meaning you’d just be in severe disadvantage. I would use this for single player though so i’m good.
The joysticks still have a lot on latency on the retail units. Reddit is blowing up with reports on this.
Im excited to try vr on the rog ally!
Do it support the nreal air glasses
Yes
Great hands on review! I'd love if you could test FIFA 23 on the ally as its notorius for performing badly in low end hardware.
Got a like from me just for trying Civ. Excited about the new games this will play, but not a lot of talk about games that play worse without a touchpad.
You didn't sniff the vent of the Steam Deck when you picked it up when you said something was making noises, you are not a hard core user of the device.
I don't know whether to upgrade from my ayaneo 2, to this .🤔
Damn saw it after only 13 minutes !
This is a game changer!!!
@Jacob B 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 you are entirely wrong
Yeah
Is a glorified Chromebook underpowered trash battery trash mby in 5-10 years i will buy one of these but now probably not and is not about money.
Asus is about to experience significant reputational damage not only for their products but also their shady business practices. You know what I'm talking about - or you should. Just be aware of how risky it is spruiking this brand right now.
Why do you have to get everything
Can you try RUST? steam deck had a hard time running that for me.
Great first impression!! As a dad therefore now a casual gamer and playing with kids. The price of a 64gb steam deck + some additional storage still seems a much better option overall and for the price. I would rather spend the extra money on games. Although I do play Game Pass with the kids a lot.
Wait a darn rootin tootin second!!!!!
Arkham knight runs fine natively on the steam deck through steam os.
When I looked it on google it said it has a 7840U
Battery life kills it. Will have to also pack an external battery.
Or you can just play less games. Go outside more. I know, thats scary for you.
You can set it to quiet mode and it pulls only 9watts
@@peace8634 do you come to pc channels to do low tier trolling?
@@peace8634 Wonder what the point of a portable console is.. Actually leaving the house? Hard to understand, clearly.
@@GameTimeWhy 🎉😮
please try dead space and the Callisto protocol on this
Im kinda worried about 16gb of ram on this thing, fine for steam deck running steam os and running games at 800p but windows 11 uses a solid chunk of that and with a 1080p screen it will need more vram
That's a good question.
16gbs of vram is fine this is a pocket Pc that will run games at low settings and low textures at 1080p or 720p.
@@ZackSNetwork it isn't 16gb of vram though
@@ZackSNetwork 720p would suck though. You are upscaling at that point so itll look blurry.
Can you please test final fantasy 7 remake?
what's your experience with the abxy buttons? Any stickiness?
I preordered it but the more I think about Asus the more I feel support will die within a year. Steam is weaker but not only is there huge fan support but Valve themselves have been on it with updates. Will Asus do the same? Or will they abandon it for the Ally 2 in 2024 or discontinue it all together...
I saw a video about people mentioning the sticky button issue like the x button, and they said that has been fixed and won't be an issue for customers
I love this device ❤. It is the best in the industry, and most importantly, it runs Windows 11
Goodluck with Asus awful customer support. They got quite the scandal lately. GameNexus has been exposing how shitty they are with their defective MOBOs situation.
@Xbox Guy bro we know you like the steam deck jesus
I for one wish that all games available on all platforms.
If God of war was available on this or the steamed? I would purchase one.
