Arr...! That warning noise from the dash, it nearly tips me over the edge every time I hear it unexpectedly ! I have a LF45 in the workshop at the moment with a adblue problem, nearly a day's work.....wish I could compress it to a 8min vid !😆. Great diagnosis as always.
Hi Darren 👋 thanks for the comment and for watching 😎 Most people get tinnitus when they get older......I'm convinced that sound will be what I will hear 🤣🤣🤣🤣. What was your problem? If I spent a day doing a problem, questions would be asked! In one hand, I'm to exhaust all available resources in the dealership, and in the other, anything more than 4 hours is to speak to daf directly on the matter 🫠
Sorry for the late reply but I only looked at this prompted by your new vid. Questions were asked but I work for myself so I answered them!😆 It had a adblue emulator neatly hidden, diagnostic tool didn't like it and threw me off track!
Thanks for the comment and for taking the time to watch the video 😎 I've tried to live my diagnostic life by this whole "Test Don't change" philosophy and even though its not the quickest way to the answer it certainly seems to be the most methodical and cheaper way to rectification.

So important part of the diagnosis.... what caused the fuse to blow? Same in any electrical system. What did it take a dump.... at least you know what probably caused it
Well done, buddy. I learned about LIN - this trucks are still rare around me, it is good to know problems before they reach the service. Can you explain on xf105 about can connection check. VIC pin D22 wire 3818 blue. I have several issues and fault disappears when put 24V on it 😂
Hey mate, I hope you're doing well 🫡. I hope this helps you one day as LIN will become more prevalent in comms in future truck technology. Have you got to the bottom of that as-tronic water contamination yet? As for your wire on VIC, it's called a heartbeat signal. This is a single wire that runs through various ecus and checks for their presence in the system, basically. Official repair is to identify your O/C and repair. Unofficial repair is to add an ignition live to the wire at the bulkhead 😅
Hey, thanks for the comment 😀. From what I saw of the B+ TERMINAL, it didn't look like any sort arc had occurred to it, but then as a technician, you would think "oh I've fucked something here" Hey they might of well not Disconnected the batteries 😬.
@@TRUCKTECHUK That’s fair enough mate love the videos, as a fitter myself I’ve learnt a lot from your content 👌🏻 and you would of thought they would disconnect the battery lol
We all make mistakes, and I'd like to think people would use common sense when dealing with electrical components.......bring on 600volt E.V'S 😅😅😅😅😅 I'm glad you enjoy the videos buddy it makes it worth while doing them 😎
Hey thanks for the comment and for watching the video. Yes the EAS did have a fault. Hence, the engine derate and engine warning on the dash in the beginning. I believe this fuse had blown but I didn't concern myself with it or fault codes relating to it as once I'd replaced it any faults o this system had become inactive and I didn't bother looking into them unfortunately I was just concerned with what I has left as active faults
I think either his own mechanic will be getting a ball kicking ,or if down outside the whoever done the alt won't be getting paid ..People as so eager to just jump to an answer ,mainly due to not understanding how things work..Also RMI takes you through a process as does the DA lol Apparently DA in now a KPI and they expect us to use it so many times a month ..I am not using it if i don't have to..Do you know about the injector update ??
Hey norb hope your okay buddy. 👍 I was in the formans meeting when it was all explained. It's all getting a bit much for me to tell the truth. I seem to be spending more time messing about than fixing things now 🙃
Lets not even go into the injectors.......I'd love to discuss this more as id love to elaborate with you but trust me when I say daf will see this comment.
My colleague is playing with a very similar fault it came from the customer with a new alt and set of batteries, still won’t charge the same fuse was blown, now replaced…he has 24v @ the alt but still no charge…only 8v on the single lin wire, any suggestions?
Hey, thanks for the comment and for watching the video. If I was you I'd be checking the wiring back to the chassis module front and also put a digital scope on the wire to check the LIN pattern. If you're struggling with the diagnosis I'm now Mobile and available to help 👍
Hi Teddy! 👍 thanks for watching the videos buddy 😎👌. Your lucky it hasn't gone into limp mode.....you're best getting it plugged into a diagnostic machine to identify the fault. unfortunately, I couldn't tell you why as it could be a million things 😕 but I am available for mobile diagnostics now!
@@TRUCKTECHUK unfortunately we don't.. There's only one guy who does this.. We don't have any daf garage fully equipped with good professional mechanics guys available here 😔😔😔

Well. Over here in the States, we are having a lot of manufacturing defects on these new type on injectors. To the point some customers are bringing from Mexico.
This is you using your head, asking for help 👌. If you were going to change an alternator, would you first check it was charging the truck? Or just blow 500 quid on an alternator, then send it to Daf as the parts cannon didn't work? My guess is you would try and educate yourself on how the system works, such as ring Adams morey or do some basic testing. Unfortunately, we're becoming an industry of fitters.....fit these pads.....fit this oil filter 😮💨. I'm lucky that I've had over 10 years on this product and can pass this testing onto you guys and through courses with remit training now. Hopefully, this will help people, help our industry, and prevent things like this from happening in the future

@Darren Hearn well done for finding it in the end. I've had emulators fitted before. Luckily, it had stuff unplugged and was still working 🤣🫣

@@TRUCKTECHUK oh yeah, I have done it right :D The water contaminated truck is working and I have not heard of it. So time will show.
Do you think that the technician who changed the alternator may have shorted the power wire causing it to blow the mega fuse?

Hi, thanks for the comment.
For vehicle diagnostics, I use a dealer tool for DAF, which is davie 4 in this particular video.

No problem. It's really not needed for fault code reading.

Yes, we carry out a UBD test and flush the engine. Are you adding injector cleaner to customers vehicles?
Yes, we are actually doing 3 fuel flushes before determining a faulty injector. After, procedure or repair we also add fuel additive into tank.
Thank you 😉

What scope do you use?
It's a miniware DS213. it's okay but old. I think we have better options now like Hanteks handheld touchscreen scopes
