oh and while I'm on the topic, the other big opening you have is, on striking you usually only had your one (leading) foot on the ground from hopping around. this means you get knocked on your ass really easily and have no follow through power which is why your sword turned so easily cutting through flimsy cardboard, your back foot is your stability and power.
I think those were the same three cardboard guy that attacked me the other night. Oh wait, nope no bullet holes in them. Seriously though, you should have set up the cut for the third target before you hit the second and made it one strike for the two.
yup, nearly had my arms severed. traded steel for bokken after that in training.....moving your feet is good, Bouncing up and down like a chipmunk is bad. shortest distance is a straight line, shorter means faster potential. watch a swordmaster; they pick their feet off only as much as they have to and nearly slide. And power doesn't come from picking your feet up in a swinging motion, it comes from rotation and speed. in a sword fight speed is everything, the slower one is dead.
it looks like you have been training under the jedi kid.. I wouldn't call this guy a master even...but watch this guy. Dynamic sword cutting by master berry (apparently I cant put url's here)
same reason a baseball pitcher raises his foot up so high.
