Pat Metheny, music is amazing and is so creative and unique, its like his music is so advanced its not from this reality.
Pat è un genio!
Pat is one of the most serious, brilliant musician/composers of his or any generation. He's easing into the "elder statesman" role very well. I just wish he had a bit more regular output these days. He's also got a bit of a Jack Nicholson look as he ages. Nice. 👍
his body of work is like no other.. Maybe Mozart, Duke Ellington .. Its true genius .. but beyond that it give us all a sense of full culture of the world and travel where we can go just by listening . Plus not easy to figure out his compositions .. especially with Lyle (RIP).. the duo was purely magical in the way they wrote together
How can you dare to name Mozart in the same level as jazz musicians?
@@gillan5 “jazz musicians” is a bit too generalized of a category, as not all jazz musicians are “created equal”, just like not all classical musicians/composers are “created equal”. Pat Metheny happens to be one of the jazz artists who’s not only a virtuoso musician with a level of creativity that few musicians (in any genres) ever get close to, but also a “genius” composer who’s writing has even gone into the “classical” realm, which can only be said for a few jazz artists. Combine all of those skills into one person, and you’re talking about a level of “musical genius” that I think is fair to rank amongst the great composers.
Really, these things have to be hyper contextualized, as obviously we’re talking across a very wide range of time and place, about people who existed within radically different social and material contexts, who are going to be influenced to create their art in various ways that hardly relate (but also in many I’m sure remain constant). It is hard to rate or rank based on any kind of objective criteria (and that can be difficult enough when talking contemporaries), so it’s not something quantifiable and people aren’t going to agree anyway, but I think there are ways to qualify people across times and styles as being amongst an “elite class of musical geniuses”, and I absolutely think ranking Pat Metheny in said “class”, along with many of the classical greats, is legitimate enough that a strong argument could be made for it. I’d say the same about Keith Jarrett, Charles Mingus, and various other jazz musicians.
@@nikolademitri731 Very well said. Besides, Pat doesn't like to be labeled by genre, either, so he's sets a higher standard just by expanding the envelope even more than those musicians who prefer to stay within a certain genre. That's what sets him apart along with the others you mentioned.
eh si... avercene!
The best for a long time now A big fan for years
Bellissima intervista
Pat is fantastic
indeed
What a treat
Number ONE!
davvero... che persona poi!
This man is highly spiritual... maybe without knowing it ❣❣❣
;-)
Oh yes he is! In fact, he may not realize it, but he's closer to the Kingdom of heaven than he may think.
Yes ! His musical sensibility is at bottom spiritual . No need to name it as such, its connected to and an expression of nature and the cosmos. All you need to do is listen to it in a place of like the Grand Canyon or on a starry night near a river to know this while at the same time it embraces humanity . He’s a Mozart level genius . As for me ? I have no idea where I would be without his music . Its informed every aspect of my life for nearly 50 years .
agreeee
Grandissimo!
♥️✨
merita
Bellissima persona. Grazie Fabio
davvero un grande
Grande! e grazieeeee
Pat is the cat.
Thanks for posting
Great artist
and great great man
grande musicista
"I'm extremely aware of the details of existence" A curious opened ended notion, which made me consider that a musical existence entails an entity interacting with and maintaining a life within an economic reality too.
Pat has the look like, "what the fuck are you saying dude, I don't speak Italian. Now, where's that stick I had laying around here somewhere, cause your getting in my nerves".
grande
respecto~!
pat always was a proud endorser of coca cola 🤣 man i love this guy so much! finally a new interview! grazie mille!
you are welcome, he great
I had a dream about Pat last night; group lesson setting and he was talking about Coca Cola 😅
Pat's talking about David Bowie being as masterful as Sonny Rollins, not Sonny Roland.
Wish the questions had English subtitles
gosh! i did not think about
Grazie per aver caricato l'intervista. Comunque la traduzione è poco precisa in vari punti. Ad esempio a 2:40, credo che Pat stia dicendo "whatever it is that GATHERS all here...", la traduzione invece fa riferimento a Dio.
Agree
grazie terremo conto
Sorry Pat for disagreeing with you, but David Bowie isn't/wasn't qualified to cook your breakfast. You are light years further than him.
Pat disagree :-)
Comunque Sonny Rollins...non Sonny Roland
ce ne siamo accorti... lapus
A quando risale l'intervista?
non ricordo ma penso dicembre
Does Pat speak mezican?
it's sad that in all he acknowledges in life he can't see the intelligence, the beauty, the creativity, the magnificense of YAH the Creator
That has nothing to do with the subject of the interview, keep it to MUSIC
@@jazzviewswithcjshearnjadev8667 my comment was based on how I heard his comment @ 2:50 - 3:15. I didn't choose this video to just make a random comment
How arrogant of you!!!! This man is way more evolved and spiritual than you for sure!!!! You obviously are into talking.... Pat is into embodying spirit!!! You are a fraud and a charlatan 😈😈😈😈😈😈😈👿👿👿
@@TheSpiritOfYah you shouldn't even be LISTENING to one of the greatest musicians on the planet!!! Your mind is TOO SMALL!!!!!
