I would probably add if I wasn’t using a wicking system - but haven’t tried adding any besides in my terrarium. With the wick it’s easy to flush - or use hydrogen peroxide if you want to clean the roots.
i just made my first batch and i cant get it clean for the life of me. spent a long time with the garden hose, but when i put it in a clear vessel(no drainage) the small bit of water i leave in the bottom was cloudy from the pon. do you boil it before first use?
Even if you boil you will always have some minor residue. The cloudiness usually comes from the pumice. If you have washed thoroughly the first time, I wouldn't worry much about it ;-)
What about using horticultural charcoal in your mix? Do you have any ideas on that?
