Scarabs are an armoured colony of telepathic alien eels. Take away the armour and the whole "ship" is just a big tangled mess of worms shaped like a big bug.
@@tea4life430 Say what you want about Nightfall but getting eaten alive by the Transformers: Worm Edition that can detect your digital watch up is a terrifying picture.
All the scarab has to do is walk around to the side of the ATAT and push it over. If it can walk through a skyscraper without a though, it could easily topple this towering walker.
Think about it, all the weight of an ATAT is at the top. A gentle nudge to the side and this thing is going over. It's legs don't bend sideways so it can't catch itself.
The scarab has to be taken down with hundreds of men with tanks and rockets with the help from a spartan warrior. An at-at can be taken down by a few rebels with some cable wire...and this is coming from a huuuuge star wars nerd. I think we all know who will win.
Who would win? - Three Scorpion tanks supported by a Spartan - Some bigass walking motherfucker that has a giant plasma gun Fact: if you've played the mission on Halo 3 with the Scorpion tanks mostly they wouldn't be able to get past the Wraiths due to fortifications
It only takes one Spartan to take down a scarab, as shown multiple times in the Halo games. So I don't know where you're getting hundreds of tanks and missiles.
In all honesty, most of the Empire's weapons and vehicles are designed for population oppression. The Empire doesn't face any war-time combatants, but only Rebels. The Covenant on the other hand is designed for straight up intergalactic conflict. All of their vehicles and weaponry is designed for raw wartime combat, generally leading to more destructive and defensive capabilities. Personally, I believe the UNSC would also have a good shot at defeating the Empire, *if it wasn't so crippled by the Covenant already.*
Elgar7022, I totally agree the Empire had no real opponent to face but unrest and terrorists(rebels). The Republic however did, so they had more suited weapons.
As much as I love Halo, I really doubt the UNSC has a chance against the Empire. The Enpire has better technology and much larger numbers. The Covenant would already beat them, I think, but I think the UNSC would be swamped. The Forerunners would beat the Empire, laughing and drinking tea though xD
Yet despite This, most covenant weapons are terribly ineffective. Ghosts are extremely flawed vehicles despite being scout vehicles. They are very easy targets due to their design and their speed is not incredible. Choppers aren't bad anti-infantry vehicles and are a decent threat to light vehicles but they are also easy to destroy. Wraiths aren't the best artillery because their shots are very slow and they are actually most effective in mid range combat where their shots are more difficult to avoid. Revenants and Specters are nothing special but they get the job done. Imperial juggernauts are much deadlier than all of these vehicles and AT-STs, speeders, imperial hover tanks, and imperial hover transports are of comparable effectiveness depending how they are used. Only the locusts seem like a common Covenant vehicle that is notably better than most of the imperial vehicles (especially if they have shields but even without them).
@@MetroVerse THE Covenant wins but if the Empire was managed better then it's a toss up. If Thrawn fights a Covenant force of comparable size it's also a toss up. The Empire has a higher population but uggnoy reproduce faster than any imperial race. Imperial vehicles have exposed bridges but they also travel quicker than Covenant ships and can easily use hyperspace to just deploy right in front of a Covenant ships during attacks. Covenant range will help them most with stealth and surprise attacks. Also remember that 70% of covenant forces are grunts. Those grunts will be fighting stormtroopers. Hunters are basically just light vehicles and will be countered by light imperial vehicles. The only big edge hunters have over light imperial vehicles is that they are also in Covenant bases and ships. The next 20% of Covenant infantry are kig-yar and yanme. Scout troopers, imperial jetpack troopers, sentry droids/death troopers/stormcommandos/shock troopers/shoretroopers/Stormtrpoper officers can counter kig-yar and yanme. Elites, brutes, and engineers make up the last 10% of Covenant forces and they can be countered by imperial scavenger droids, inquisitors, shadow troopers, assassin droids, royal guards, and other elite imperials like inferno squad If we are including Legends then the Empire has dark troopers, nova troopers, and terror troopers to counter elites.
Scarab's are equipped with nano laminate armor. Which is very resistant to energy weapons. If you look at the lore, the only way infantry could kill a Scarab was to board it. The weak points are only for the video games.
Psycho5able actually, it does make sense the armor is indeed too strong to be penetrated by anything the UNSC could mount on a vehicle, and it definitely has enough firepower to melt anything it sneeze at. But the scarabs are mostly gigantic legolo worms colonies who are pumped into the shell of the scarab to create it. The armor may be invicible, but they suffer from the same issue as any other legolo made creature, like the hunters. The worms themselves are quite fragile, and even tho there is a lot of them, in the few places where the armor is thin enough for weapons to Peirce, it can strike directly into the colony, severely disrupting the scarab ability to fight. However, since most of it is covered in armor, the worms will be able to regenerate and reposition and ultimately bring the scarab's mobility back. This is why in the games and in the comics, they have to go in and board it, since it is the only way of truly destroying it.
I just imagine the scarab scuttling to the side of the ATAT then knocking it over and stepping on it like it did that car. Am I alone here or do other people see this?
That was my second thought, after scarab wins hands down. It doesn't even need to fire at the AT-AT, just scuttle out of rotational range of the weapons, sidle up beside it, and tip it over with one of it's highly articulate legs. Scarabs also have another advantage when reaching the battlefield in the additional types of terrain they can traverse.
Another thing to note is that AT-AT has to be dropped in by transports near, but away from their targets, whereas scarabs can be dropped from low orbit right on top of their targets allowing for rapid and massed deployment. Plus the scarab can be deployed later in the battle when needed (keeping it safe), where as the AT-AT must be deployed in advance of the attack to keep up with assaults
With things like banshee's, phantoms and if you take into account vampires from halo wars (which are anti air aircraft) they wouldn't be able to land anything that big safely anywhere.
Stand by for Scarabfall. Now that I mentioned it, What about an AT-ST vs an ION titan? Or A Tone vs one of those UNSC mechs, Or a Legion vs an YMIR mech? Or Ronin vs Optimus prime?
So... I'd just like to point out that the Scarab, like everything else the Covenant uses, uses Plasma as weaponry. Luke's lightsaber cuts through the AT-AT like butter, and so imagine the AT-AT being completely soaked in lightsabers. That's an easy win for the Scarab.
Helios Titan Luke's lightsaber could cut through the armor because a lightsaber keeps the intensely hot plasma at a constant temperature in a stable, contained mass. Covenant plasma weaponry is a bit different because as soon as a plasma bolt hits something the energy disperses and cools rapidly.
Helios Titan That sounds like a funny mod. Imagine a scarab firing thousands of lightsabers out of its “mouth” in battle. Add a generic “bleh” sound, and it’s golden.
In an actual battle, the second the empire brings out the ATATs the covenant could just orbital drop the scarabs behind the empire's troops quickly destroying any ATATs well before they could turn around and effectively screw over any imperial assault's heavy armor. They could sneak a ship with scarabs behind them fairly easily since their stealth tech is amazing. *Remember Reach?* They had a whole damn super carrier cloaked and waiting there the whole time and nobody noticed till it decided to show itself.
Funny thing? Covenant have great stealth tech, but it’s cannon the humans is far better. Imagine humans sneaking through blockades with prowlers . The empire puke the even know they had been there.
Frigging Fascist I think that would be a little to reckless to pull of and the strategy of simply moving out of the atat's line of sight would be affective enough, but as a Star Wars and halo fan I can defiantly say that would be VARY entertaining to watch!
Frigging Fascist Or attack from the side. It could EASILY out maneuver and out pace a AT-AT. Plus if something is in the way it'll go OVER instead of around.
I just imagine the Empire deploying a AT-AT to attack a Covenant base and the Empire just watching the AT-AT laughing until they see that a Scarab fell from space landing on it and destroying it immediately.
The Scarab would just wait at the limit of the AT-AT's range, then fire a single targeted blast from it's energy projector at the AT-AT's "head". The walker is too slow to avoid the blast and even a glancing hit to anywhere in that area means game over for the AT-AT. Remember, they're able to be taken down by X-Wings if they land a few shots to its neck. The Scarab's weapons are many times more powerful than those on a fighter. This should be a 10/10 victory for the Type 47.
The AT-AT's plated armor would completely nullify any armor. If the scarab's were aiming for a general weak point like the neck or under-belly, it'd be a different circumstance.
Covenant troops are taught that humans like to command from the front, I believe they would see the at-at as an easy headshot with their main guns. Plus plasma weapons are said to stick and burn metal not dissipate like lasers. The basic weaponry for the covenant was said to burn titanium armor plating like it was nothing. As a side note with the Scarab being bigger I think they could push over the AT-AT at close range since the covenant are fanatical and wouldn't be afraid to get in close
The Covenant side would also give on the spot opportunity to be creative, like with a Scarab commander knocking over an AT-AT to see if it is a possible strategy.
The Covenant isn't fanatical stupid like Warhammer lmao. Sangheili are honorable and fanatical, but that doesn't mean they go melee in a shootout. They use cloaking devices and every dirty tactic they must. They are not stupid. They know they have to win no matter the cost.
One major correction. Scarabs aren't vehicles or robots at all. They're giant infantry. The Hunter class infantry and Scarabs are colonies of sentient eels encased in armor. The Scarabs are supercolonies of sed eels. Their joints and overall maneuvering ability come from the eels working together as large muscle structures, and there's no pilot. To disable a Scarab, you would have to kill enough of the eels under its surface to prevent them from lifting the armor structure. Also, because the Scarab is effectively a large animal, it could potentially tackle an AT-AT from the side and fire its main weapon at point blank as a finishing blow, though Halo doesn't at this point have a canon account of that kind of maneuver taking place. [Edit: this also means that a Scarab potentially has limited stamina, and can get tired. The core you destroy to blow up a Scarab in Halo 3 is the power source for the plasma weapons it carries.]
Quentin Givens yep basically correct. Pretty good design because it has no pilot and can’t be hijacked. Even though it is vulnerable when it starts going down or when you are inside, that’s what all of the grunts and brutes are inside for.
Plasma burns from millions to billions of degrees Celsius.. Luke’s lightsaber breached its armour so the scarabs main laser should absolutely destroy an AT-AT in like 4 seconds
Yeh... spartans from halo lore are fucking overpowered against most enemies... going off of what we see in games (thier speed and strength) would be a little fairer
Toast Scarabs get dropped from low orbit, AT-AT’s need to be dropped off via drop ship. Scarab would just shoot down the drop ship before it got close to the scarab, scarab still wins.
AT-ATs outnumber Scarabs. In an actual battle, 2-5 AT-AT would engage every 1 Scarab. It was such a big deal to see 2 Scarabs in Halo, but in Star Wars it's not that uncommon for 6-10 AT-ATs to be deployed during important battles.
Due to the Covenant's lack of A.I. Research, they were unable to combat the UNSC's Dumb and Smart A.I. (Dumb A.I. are made to operate a single machine, Smart A.I. are able to help command and run ships, but unfortunately live 7-8 years). The Covenant had to use hunter worms or Leckgolo to operate mechs and larger walkers, not to mention, they are pretty damn intelligent.
Jäger Wiesner III yeah, in such large numbers it wouldn't be too off to say that lekigolo colonies the size of a scarab are on par with some AI seeing how intelligent Colony is and such.
Boring Göring they even have a sense of superiority as hunters see others species of the covenant such as grunts and jackals below them as they really don't care if it they kill them by friendly fire except the elites as they "tamed" them
Double A Batteries What about the Grizzly, what could we match that Glorious Twin-Barreled monster against? And the Halo Wars 2 version is a straight up Mammoth Tank.
Fairly certain Star Wars doesnt have anything equivilent to it...closest thing I can think of in terms of size and firepower is a Leman Russ from Warhammer
Vesperion Seraph I'm a huge fan of the scorpion but I think the saber tank is just too fast for the main cannon to track in close range....i think the only chance for the scorpion is to shell it from a distance or if the .50 cal can pierce the armor depending on what shielding the saber tank has
Well, surely they can be piloted but they don't have to be. The scarab from Halo 2 can't be too different from the one in halo 3, and Johnson managed to pilot one in halo 2. So I'm thinking the halo 3 scarab can be piloted, but doesn't have to be
This has been one my favorite sci fi match ups for a long time. The scarab mining tank is cannibalized for war purposes. Meanwhile the atat is made for tank combat. And although the atat canons can fire faster than the scarabs canons, i believe that the main mining beam would cut through the atat rather quickly.
The Scarab was originally designed to strip away miles of rock and ore to access buried Forerunner sites. A few seconds of fire from it would slag anything unarmored on the AT-AT.
D-m'n in an urban environment I recon the scarab could climb a building and get out of the ATAT's view either shooting it from above of even pouncing down on it and skewering it on its "feet"
if you look at the way the lowe portion of the leg is attached you will see a 180 degree-ish pivot if it where folded in then the weight would be dispersed more easily it could also stick the spike into the building as a kind of ice pick or it could just crash through the building and into the ATAT too which would yield the same results(but be far less fucking awesome) also bear in mind the scarab isn't some clunky controlled waker like those i star wars instead it is a living animal and would move and ajust as such
If it was a banished scarab well it wouldn't even be a 10 sec battle the banished scarab sends missiles and a powerful beam thats very accurate and has a shield sometimes...
There are so many factors that give the scarab an advantage, such as the scarab's extreme mobility (in comparison to the AT-AT) and the cannons are designed in a way that gives an advantage against stationary or slow targets as well. Scarab beams half the times are used to excavate through solid terrain, they'd drill right through any amount of armor and melt to their way into the core of the AT-AT. And of course, the games are actually a poor representation of the scarab's ability to target at range. In the lore, scarabs would be even deadlier. You would have to outmaneuver them or use long range bombardments to cripple or destroy them. Long story short, the AT-AT's only chance is to deal tons of damage quickly with its main cannons as the scarab is weak to that type of long range bombardment. Any other circumstance and the AT-AT doesn't stand a chance.
Yeah well yeah. Except, there are ways the at-at can litterally one shot it, but it really depends. First, the at-at has she3ilds. Meaning absoulutely no quick kill from scarab. Scarab needs to sruvinve long enough to win, which it can, but it can also litteralloy get one shot. The at-at has the abililty to shoot a salvo so powerful that one set of two is neough to va[oorie and send a building flying inot the air in multiple peicers. we are talking about sending a multi story hung of metal, not a fram work scalfolding thing with air walls like we build as buildings, with armor, and hunks of steal, well into the sky multiple extra stories all at once. THe scarab may be impervious to tanks shots and rockets, but an at-at is not that puny in damage. it is so powerfull, it can send a building into the air. It would be like fighting a warship. The At-at does have disadvantages, and it's mostly going forward and turnign while going forward, but i t most certainly can tunr much quicker than you realize. it literally did a bostan dinamics balancing thing to blow up a snow speeder and crossed it's legs or somethign seeming liek it. So while the scarabe acan straif it, it's possible to flat out fail. the farther away it is, the less it can straif it. any long range engagement probably has at-at turnhign around and shooting four super charged shots and exploding atleast massive chunks off the scarab and into the sky, probably the beam cannon. The shockwave alone could cause the reactor in the back to go boom, althogh I'm sure a frontal hit would not. ANything up close could go to the scarab. in melle fight, the scarb wins everytime. if the sacrab can knock it ver, it wins. i migaine that it can knock it from the front, getting it up and causing it to half mount the scarabe and then shaking it sideways.or on it's ass. close enough and it may be able to wlk sidewasy just fast enough, but the at-at can actually tunr quite fast. it was litteraly able to turn itself and shoot a snowspeeder out of the air like an animal catching a frsibee, but that process would would be a little shaky, and ta close rangew, too slow, but it goes in bursts, so if the at-at is gaining it could miss a few shots until coming around. I don't imagine the operators using full power on the turning shots. Long srange scarb does't really stand a chance. short range the at-at doesn't stand a chance unless the scarabe just stands there like an idiot, and being an actual living infantry unit, it probably is not going to fight in a stupid manner when it can just dodge out of the way. THe scarabe is litterally basically a colony of sentient worms, or more accurately a sentient colony of wroms. it doesn't want to stand there and die. It wants to live. It has a personality and wants and dreams. It probably wants to get promoted it probably wanst to trade membrs with another scarab colony. It doesn't want to die, so it's not doing to stand there and shoot at the AT-AT, it's going to go sidways. t's just going it's personality, it might wrestle the thing like a giant beetle would wrestl something. It's spontaneos and subject to personlity based decisions, not just decisions of pure logic. some would stand there like morons and get shot at or strat an unadvised encounter, although there are highranking intelligent eleites there to say that is dumb if they do it like that we are all going to die, do it like this, and chances are, it be a trained and disiplined infantry unit, it's going to listen. Poor AT-AT though. it has to fight an intantry unit in a dual.
Consider that the scarab is originally an excavation vehicle that can melt through rock and stuff to get to ancient forerunner tech, and that it probably had to melt through that rech to get inside facilities and stuff, that 'impenitrable armour' the AtAt has I'd say isn't doing so well. From the question of ' what would win, a wierd metal trunkless elephant or a mining laser on legs', that scarab is just gonna win. No question needed
yeah i mean the halo 2 scarab had its weaker auto turret that could down pelicans in one hit and not even a direct hit compared to the halo 3 ones that couldn't down a hornet in a few hits and the cannon only temporarily disabled a truck in odst with some light shielding from a engineer. the halo 2 one on the other hand 1 shot a scorpion. honestly i think halo 2 has the covenant at its strongest or at least lets us see its most powerful as in halo 2 the phantoms had more turrets they had the really robust spectre among other things. not to mention they still had elites in their military. i mean the fact that the counsel members in 2 were on the same level as silver and honor guard elites is amazing they literally have to sit there and lead yet they are just as tough as any other fighters showing the military might of the covenant on a small scale. i mean the empire always had better weapons and more numbers than who they fought which is how the rebels won they had better people less but better and were able to win because of that.
X-Wings don't have much of an effect on AT-AT's even in the battlefront games if you managed to have an X-WIng fighting an AT-AT proton torpedos can disable AT-AT's shields.
I agree that the scarab would win. It's faster and more maneuverable as you said. Also against a target that would be unable to react quickly enough it would just shred with that focused energy projector. After all it's strait plasma and assuming the AT-AT is made of durasteel (which is basically durable steel, so I'd imagine a facsimile would be something like titanium which is what the scorpion has) it would just melt it away
The battlefield also plays a significant role, I imagine. The Scarab is much more capable of exploiting cover in an urban or alpine environment where it can exploit the terrain.
Assuming the fact that the AT-AT survived anti armor weaponry(the dish like cannon and a standard turret) with no injury at the narrowest point(the legs) i would say the AT-AT is more armored than the scarab. Also those shield generators are much bigger than the scarab and it was destroyed with a single shot. Also as it didnt mentioned, the AT-AT have an ICI-S3 shield generator, thats why it is impenetrable to any small or even artillery fire. It have heavy durasteel armoring which is basically a capital ship type of armoring but less thicker. The scarab is faster and more maneuverable but the AT-AT is more like a moving fortress.
Rebels: were getting gunned down here, you said you had some allies that could take down that walker? Rebel leader, yea, give me some time. 10 min later, a Scarab is deployed on the battlefield. Rebels, HOLY CRAP, Empire, our AT AT can tank it, When the AT AT is destroyed, Rebels, HOLY CRAP!!!!!! Empire, HOLY CRAP!!!!!!
Simple shot from the Scarab towards the legs of the AT-AT would melt straight through causing it to crash to the ground... that's suggesting it made it to the ground as it has to be dropped from a ship- the Scarab would hit it before it reached the ground. Or the Scarab could ram it and push it over...
You forgot one thing, the infantry on a scarab has more open places to fire. So if they have fuel rod cannons they can fire freely and deal massive damage. Depending on variant of the AT-AT the torso is closed off with the troopers, closing them inside for protection but they can’t assist in defense or offense.
Retribution class battleship from warhammer 40k vs Executor-Class Star Dreadnought (i totally forgot how many attempts i tried arleady.. this is either the 5th or 6th) For the God Emperor!!
Only problem I see is inconsistence between writers and size although some writes have put it at the 20 km range equal to a executor it is probably in the 10-12 km range also the imperium likes to board and ram something not as common in starwars
Scarabs are twice as tall as at-ats, have vastly superior fire power, mobility, armor, and are sentient living supertanks. This isn't close to an argument. Not accounting for banished scarabs, which are better than the other scarabs in just about every way, and come with homing rockets and a defensive shield.
But AT-ATs are much more common. AT-ATs are often deployed in pairs or groups of 3. It was such a big deal that you ran into 2 Scarabs during halo 3 but, the Empire often uses 8-15 AT-ATs for big battles.
Bill Clark still, a scarab from low orbit directly behind or on top of them would create a hell of a time and then point blank plasma cannon through a leg of each of them means no more mobility and then a casual massacre
@@andrewchilds8886 Thats true bit AT-ATs usually don't stand around all the time either. That only applies if Scarabs are deployed after the AT-ATs and not if a team of AT-ATs intercepts them or is deployed at the same time as them. AT-ATs are deployed via Gonzati ships.
@@billclark5055 Scarabs are deployed by covenant capitol ships and can be dropped from orbit. plus numbers dosent mean much when the competition are vastly superior. thats why 2 scarabs are such a fight while 15 AT-AT's are normal. and even then they are basically standing still compared to a scarab, they are much faster. AT-AT's are insanely slow and basically only walk in one direction while the Scarab basically has 3 dimensions of mobility.
Catpirate depends, do snowspeeders have shields? I forget if they do. Also the type and era of banshee would need to be specified. Although Banshees are more iconically known as such, they are not the covenants main starfighter, the Seraph is. Also Banshees during the height of the covenant did not have shields. After the disolution of the covenant, The covenant factions had less access to resources, thus they put shields on Banshees as Seraphs were more resource intensive. The Banshees finally became the starfighter of the covenant splinter groups.
Killer Orca yes, the type 27 exoatmospheric. However they weren't the main starfighters, like how the republic had x-wings, delta-7s, and the v-19 torrent starfighter. However the x-wing was the most known starfighter, unlike the v-19 which was less commonly known.
Again, depends on the type and era of the banshee. However I will lean more towards the banshee. Although the pre-great schism banshees did not have shields, unlike Tie Fighters, Banshees could still take a hit or two. The Ties had emphasis on their cheap design. Post Schism (Modern) Banshees do have shields for the reason I stated above, The Tie would be even more F'd in a 1v1. Also in Halo 5 era (2558-2559) There are more powerful variants of the banshees, like the "Sword" Banshee having extra armor (these belong to the Human-Friendly faction Sword of Sangehelios, lead by the Arbiter) And the Banshee Ultra, which has even more extra armor and upgraded weaponry and faster cooldown for the banshee bomb.
My friend asked me “Alright, but what if there were TWO AT - AT’s?” Well to answer his question, I die at pretty much the same rate from either of the Scarab’s cannons (which is pretty quick), and since they can shoot at two different points, the Scarab would most likely still win. One more thing I’d like to add: due to how quickly the metal melts, the metal composition of the ATAT is most likely comprised of something such as steel, possibly even titanium. Covenant ships, along with the armor of Scarabs and Hunters, are made of an alien material known as nanolaminate, in which proven to be much stronger than titanium due to a cutscene that shows a covenant ship ramming a UNSC ship head on, with the UNSC ship sustaining massive amounts of damage.
The AT-AT is incredibly out gunned and outclassed in this matchup... The other thing to factor in with the Scarab’s mobility is that it’s a true all terrain vehicle, as demonstrated multiple times in Halo 2, 3, and Reach. It’s ability to go up and over obstacles would be an enormous advantage because it would be far more easy to find cover from an AT-AT that the AT-AT would be able to do and it could use the cover to reset the fight into an ambush from the AT-AT’s Undefended left and right flanks without even needing to tank the shots the AT-AT can dish out...
AT-ATs problem is it’s speed and turning and having problems with quick deployment so all you need to beat it is just out maneuver it and eventually you win
I feel the scars would shit on the AT-AT mainly because The scarab is mostly called in from orbit so it could land on top of the ATAT It can turn It shoots a continuous beam of plasma with a canon on the top, with the 2 plasma guns on the side You have to destroy the engine inside the scarab which you have to walk inside, or blow the back off, to shoot at it
well, let us look at one other thing, the super scarab (halo 2) and the normal scarab we see in the other halo games both are actually downgraded in their games, as it is said that the lasers can easily melt through a city block, this is extremely relevant since scarabs are actually not fully reversed engineered, and were originally mining platforms by the forerunners, and the only way the covenant were even able to pilot these is by having the hunter worms control it, so the main gun on these weapon platforms would be able to shred the at-at in one or two full beams, if not one since all the empire has really to worry about is blaster fire, they would not expect a continuous beam of plasma which could melt the armor.
kyle lowe it’s two different modes The Halo 2 model is The Type 47A model and yes older but it’s bigger and it’s main cannon is stronger but the Type 47B The Halo 3 Model is faster smaller has better secondary Cannons and a weaker main Cannon
Man, those scarab fights from Halo 3 were so iconic I legitimately miss the scope of those fights in a first person shooter game. As for the video, I love the Empire. Truly. But the Scarab is a great design and the weapons platforms are placed much more advantageously as well the mobility being much higher. One on one I'd say the AT-At would probably damage the scarab to a high level but it would take it out first especially if that plasma blast hits directly.
"Competent scarab pilot" you mean the leckego (I probably misspelled that)? The scarab isn't driven like an AT-AT is, rather it is run by a fairly large colony of this alien worm that is quite advanced in large numbers. So the scarab is more like a giant mech suit with a squad of covenant to help defend the scarab
A covenant scarab will have a better chance against a walker, but if it was a Banished scarab, they'd absolutely win just with their much more powerful laser.
XxDarkLordxX100 spirt of fire is not a war ship. It's a colonization ship turned carrier. Meant for ground operations. It wasn't particularly well armed for a halo ship nor well armored.
That Gamer you lost your mind the spirt offire is bigger tha a star destryer and you think a hammerhead is gonna perice it amour one it has almost every thing or avery vehicle and the mac one shot that hammerhead will be oblterated this in no parss class frigate this is a ship that is thelenght of th infinty
Aspect of Bløød I said a fair fight, not a massacre. The condor may be a lot slower, but it makes up for that in ultra heavy armor and fast powerful Spartan laser blasts.
I’d also like to point out that the scarab in halo 3 is actually a colony of lekgolo (hunter) worms being that the scarab has sentience it is quicker to respond and implement self preservation not to mention that hunters are known to be very good strategizers hence how they got labeled hunters
I just went to the wiki and read the first paragraph of the rakghoul plague. The flood is way worse: The most advanced civilization in halo could only do a universe wide genocide to stop the flood, not kill it, to try and preserve what was left of the universe from becoming food for the flood.
Thel 'Vadam The Yuuzhan Vong would have been a better match up if we're gonna compare the two, either that, or that other plague from Star Wars that was basically the zombie equivalent of Star Wars(forgot what it was called). Either way, both the Rackghoul plague and the other plague I mentioned were created from Sith Alchemy, while the Flood was from the corruption of the last Precursor.
Lobot vs Cortana A human who had his emotions erased for a super computer for a brain to take care of and run Cloud City, or Cortan, a Super A.I. who can control and overide even Forerunner technology. Whose the better calculator?
I guarantee the scarab would win every time. The at at blasts would do next to nothing to the scarab, where as the blast from the scarab is plasma hotter then the sun, and would take it in one or two hits
I have to say the fact that the AT-AT can easily blow up buildings, he neglects, The scarab is tough but i think the main lasers can do some serious damage to it. Especially when you look at starwars laser-strength (like turbolasers)
Well according to starwars books, including the one Eckhart used for his Stardestroyer VS infinity, Large laser cannons do 6 megatonnes per shot, So even if the scarab can win, we can assume The AT-AT's Heavy lasers can probably blow big holes in the scarab if it hits
sebastian wilkins If he still gives the Odyssey the ZPM, then the Star Destroyer stands no chance. Though the APBs might still rip through the SD's shields, even if only powered by Naquadah generators. I do believe the Asgard Power Core was only used to power the Asgard Computer Core though. Of course they might just be able to transport over a Mk IX warhead & detonate it next to the SD's power core....
Even if the AT-AT disables the joints it's to slow to get around to the back before it recovers, unless the Sacrab pilot is an idiot and shows it's back the AT-AT has no way of winning
World News Updates it’s a colony of worms called the lek golo and like the flood the more there are the more intelligent they will be so a scarab is pretty damn smart
The vital systems are still controlled manually, such as firing the weapon and giving directional movement. Can't trust the Lekgolo with everything now, can we?
This fight becomes very different if you consider group deployment of the walkers. An individual scarab can move around an individual AT-AT, but a group of scarabs trying to flank a rank or two of AT-ATs would have a tougher time avoiding shots in the maneuver.
Great video like always. I think the big problem is the different roles both these tanks have. The Empire is always shown dropping tons of AT-ATs and they always advance together. That's why the forward guns make sense. Also they usually have Tie Fighter and AT-STs protecting them. The Scrab is more of a Rambo style tank that drops in by itself and some light infantry to protect it. I think in a all out fight ground battle between the empire and the covenant the Empire would have a huge advantage.
David Johnson ya good point I forgot about that in Halo 3. I still think a massive empire vs covenant ground war would be so awesome. I still feel that for every Scrab the covenant could field, the Empire would overwhelm them with AT-ATs
Ya they could have the advantage of numbers but scarabs can be dropped in from low orbit so that could be out right in between the ATATs and get the drop on the with their lack of turning speed.
Not all battles are fought on a micro scale. A scarab could spend a day or two maneuvering around the forward line of AT-ATs and smack them from behind. The lekgolo that power scarabs are secretly tactical geniuses when in colonies and would be able to deduce an AT-AT's weak points in little time as well as use their mastery of maneuverability to escape behind a mountain or something out of the line of fire then pop up behind it to lay down some heavy fire
plus if you are giving the empire reinforcements, the scarab would be backed by a force of phantoms, phantom gunships, wraiths, banshiees, and maybe even hunters which, according to halo wars, are a significant anti vehicle unit
I can't be the only halo fan who considers the comment section our territory right? Because currently I am looking for a fight with a Star Wars fan to insure that we will be known as the rulers of This comment section
Happened Earth72 don’t worry all the Star Wars crazy people are getting rekt in the comments. You don’t know anything about halo if you think an atat would win
@@emperorpalpatine6365 Well duh, Star Wars has been around twice as long as Halo, and it has a much more casual fanbase, as they are movies, and of course, there's the games too. It's marketed to death and milked dry. Of course it's gonna have more fans. It's one of the biggest sci-fi franchise in history. That doesn't mean Halo is bad or anything. Halo revolutionized the FPS scene, and it has one of the richest and original stories in sci-fi gaming too, so I'd call it equally great in its own way. I love Star Wars too, so why should it be one or the other? Us Halo fans just like to brag about how OP our favorite universe is in comparisson with the SW universe, that's all. Mainly because SW is so big and we're the underdog.
White Moon the halo 2 scarab is a different version than the 47-B. Probably a "47-A". And from playing halo 2,we can see that its much more powerful than a 47-B. For example, its legs cant get damaged.
Jamie Gray yeah, I guess if they are too far away, the mac has the advantage as the distance between the ships allows the frigate to correct it's pitch/yaw to compensate for the movement of the c90
I think something else of note to consider here is the overall design profile of each walker. The Scarab has a lot of smooth bevels and contours which would be quite effective at deflecting small caliber ballistic projectiles as well as dissipating the energy of laser- or plasma-based weapons. The AT-AT is just a big durasteel box on stilts.
Even if it's an opinion that doesn't seem to be shared by many, I think the ATAT would win. The heavy lasers have more range and enough power to shred a Scarab with no problems way before the scarab can shoot the deathbeam. Even if the heavy lasers aren't powerful enough to destroy the Scarab in a couple of shots, they have a good AOE, so they could hit the legs unintentionally, grounding the Scarab and leaving it vulnerable to be pounded by heavy laser fire.
I'm genuinely curious to know if there's any other heavy battle vehicle that an AT-AT actually defeat? The AT-AT is basically a slow-moving siege weapon, not built for combat against anything in its own class or above...
I think the speeder would win, as they're a lot faster and have more range. The ghost has more fire power, but is slower in both speed as weapon speed. The speeder could just come at it from a distance and blast it to pieces. This is coming from a Halo fan boy btw. Halo wins out on most fronts, but this scenario has Halo beat tbh.

I guess it's technically a drop ship since they can be dropped from orbit
All the scarab has to do is walk around to the side of the ATAT and push it over. If it can walk through a skyscraper without a though, it could easily topple this towering walker.
Think about it, all the weight of an ATAT is at the top. A gentle nudge to the side and this thing is going over. It's legs don't bend sideways so it can't catch itself.
So the most epic cow tip
Quarter2Doom all the walker needs is a bit of range as it hits a ship at decent range while moving faster than whatever the fuck this is
The AT-AT looks like a stiff wind would knock it over. The AT-TE was far superior in my opinion, not sure why the Empire stopped using them.

The scarab has to be taken down with hundreds of men with tanks and rockets with the help from a spartan warrior. An at-at can be taken down by a few rebels with some cable wire...and this is coming from a huuuuge star wars nerd. I think we all know who will win.
yay
Who would win?
- Three Scorpion tanks supported by a Spartan
- Some bigass walking motherfucker that has a giant plasma gun
Fact: if you've played the mission on Halo 3 with the Scorpion tanks mostly they wouldn't be able to get past the Wraiths due to fortifications
It only takes one Spartan to take down a scarab, as shown multiple times in the Halo games. So I don't know where you're getting hundreds of tanks and missiles.
@@danielt.9586 Thats game logic and bungie with badass and luck in reall lore it like fighting a monster a towering monster
Daniel T. Yes, but that Spartan was freaking master chief, one of the best warriors in the halo universe.
Really it's just the UNSC is massively outnumbered compared to the empire
Elites, brutes, and engineers make up the last 10% of Covenant forces and they can be countered by imperial scavenger droids, inquisitors, shadow troopers, assassin droids, royal guards, and other elite imperials like inferno squad
If we are including Legends then the Empire has dark troopers, nova troopers, and terror troopers to counter elites.
Psycho5able and in halo 2, there was no way in gameplay to shoot the scarab to damage it. You had to kill the crew to disable it.

Conner K I can see a scarab easily taking out 2 or 3 at-at’s.
At ats can only go forward
If the at at stops, its weight might counter the scarab due to its weight matching that of a scarab. At at will not be able to move when stuck.
@@ckl9390 assuming the scarab doesn't just straight up slag the AT-AT's legs
Another thing to note is that AT-AT has to be dropped in by transports near, but away from their targets, whereas scarabs can be dropped from low orbit right on top of their targets allowing for rapid and massed deployment. Plus the scarab can be deployed later in the battle when needed (keeping it safe), where as the AT-AT must be deployed in advance of the attack to keep up with assaults
Orlando Ford Drop a Scarab on them! Is what is I'm sure a Covenant officer said as he is losing a battle.

Mayhemm007 You are right about the neck but the shields on the head are extremely well shielded
Darth Nox well then aim at the legs
The AT-AT's plated armor would completely nullify any armor. If the scarab's were aiming for a general weak point like the neck or under-belly, it'd be a different circumstance.
If you're talking of rogue One than those AT ATs aren't actually AT ATs they are a lighter type with no shielding
Quentin Givens I almost completely forgot hunters were what made scarabs.
Quentin Givens yep basically correct. Pretty good design because it has no pilot and can’t be hijacked. Even though it is vulnerable when it starts going down or when you are inside, that’s what all of the grunts and brutes are inside for.
The creatures that control Scarabs and hunters are more like worms instead of eels
Canonically they're eels. Read the books.
Well in Halo 2 Sergeant Johnson was able to take full control of a scarab and manually pilot it as well.
Plasma burns from millions to billions of degrees Celsius.. Luke’s lightsaber breached its armour so the scarabs main laser should absolutely destroy an AT-AT in like 4 seconds

Dj Slimdick why not touch it when it is on
Kouko Kamoko I did. Like a normal person.

Ditch Rat wouldn't be fair spartans would destroy them
Yeh... spartans from halo lore are fucking overpowered against most enemies... going off of what we see in games (thier speed and strength) would be a little fairer
Ditch Rat the only way it could seem a little fair is if the spartans didnt have their suits on but they would still have an overwhelming advantage
Ditch Rat clone commandos are still just biological humans, a more even fight would be odst but then again clone armor isn't made to withstand slugs
Clone commandos vs odst would make more sense since spartans are super soldiers. Commandos are basically special forces.

Toast Scarabs get dropped from low orbit, AT-AT’s need to be dropped off via drop ship. Scarab would just shoot down the drop ship before it got close to the scarab, scarab still wins.
Fair enough, haha
AT-ATs outnumber Scarabs. In an actual battle, 2-5 AT-AT would engage every 1 Scarab. It was such a big deal to see 2 Scarabs in Halo, but in Star Wars it's not that uncommon for 6-10 AT-ATs to be deployed during important battles.
@@greenradiozone824 Or the Empire could just get a Gonzati cruiser to hyperspace ram instead into a Scarab and destroy it.

M808S (Halo Wars 2 90mm gun presumably)
M820 (150mm (Halo 5))
M820 Hannibal (150mm Gauss (charge time needed))
Actually the Hannibal's cannon is a straight-up laser. Not a projectile.

Killer Orca ant Let's not mention that the AT-AT would most likely be scrap and slag by the ten second mark of sustained fire.
D-m'n in an urban environment I recon the scarab could climb a building and get out of the ATAT's view either shooting it from above of even pouncing down on it and skewering it on its "feet"
Actually a Scarab climbs right over a warehouse in Halo 3s level "The Storm"...
if you look at the way the lowe portion of the leg is attached you will see a 180 degree-ish pivot if it where folded in then the weight would be dispersed more easily it could also stick the spike into the building as a kind of ice pick or it could just crash through the building and into the ATAT too which would yield the same results(but be far less fucking awesome) also bear in mind the scarab isn't some clunky controlled waker like those i star wars instead it is a living animal and would move and ajust as such
I can totally see them targeting the focus beam at the AT-ATs face and just blinding and melting it with super heated plasma.
If it was a banished scarab well it wouldn't even be a 10 sec battle the banished scarab sends missiles and a powerful beam thats very accurate and has a shield sometimes...
That Scarab could probably take out an entire fleet's worth of AT-ATs on its own
There are so many factors that give the scarab an advantage, such as the scarab's extreme mobility (in comparison to the AT-AT) and the cannons are designed in a way that gives an advantage against stationary or slow targets as well.
Even if the AT AT were to disable the scarab it would still have to get around the back and destroy the power core thing
Kats arm Definitely not Darksupernova I believe that's a mix between a control interface for the Lekgolo inside and a power core.
And the atat would have to deal with the fire from the anti air gun on the back and any passengers on the scarab.
Actually you can destroy the scarab in halo 3 just by shooting it. It takes a long time though.
yeah i mean the halo 2 scarab had its weaker auto turret that could down pelicans in one hit and not even a direct hit compared to the halo 3 ones that couldn't down a hornet in a few hits and the cannon only temporarily disabled a truck in odst with some light shielding from a engineer. the halo 2 one on the other hand 1 shot a scorpion. honestly i think halo 2 has the covenant at its strongest or at least lets us see its most powerful as in halo 2 the phantoms had more turrets they had the really robust spectre among other things. not to mention they still had elites in their military. i mean the fact that the counsel members in 2 were on the same level as silver and honor guard elites is amazing they literally have to sit there and lead yet they are just as tough as any other fighters showing the military might of the covenant on a small scale. i mean the empire always had better weapons and more numbers than who they fought which is how the rebels won they had better people less but better and were able to win because of that.
And if nothing else it could slag the ground under the AT-AT and immobilize it. That projector was made to mine after all...
Well the one from halo 2 was. Which is ironic with it being tougher, it being on a less powerful platform of course
The battlefield also plays a significant role, I imagine. The Scarab is much more capable of exploiting cover in an urban or alpine environment where it can exploit the terrain.
Well the AT-AT can hardly turn and the Scarab is seen scaling buildings I think we can call it a win for the Scarab in that category

We need to see the banished scarab vs war of the worlds tripods
Simple shot from the Scarab towards the legs of the AT-AT would melt straight through causing it to crash to the ground... that's suggesting it made it to the ground as it has to be dropped from a ship- the Scarab would hit it before it reached the ground.
Or the Scarab could ram it and push it over...
Yeah dude I looked it up and did some math and a Scarab is 53 feet taller than an AT-AT.
Yeah a Scarab is nearly twice the size of a AT-AT
You forgot one thing, the infantry on a scarab has more open places to fire. So if they have fuel rod cannons they can fire freely and deal massive damage.
Depending on variant of the AT-AT the torso is closed off with the troopers, closing them inside for protection but they can’t assist in defense or offense.
Scary part is a Scarab isn't a vehicle. "Infantry" would be a better term considering the thing is alive and works exactly like a Hunter.

Only problem I see is inconsistence between writers and size although some writes have put it at the 20 km range equal to a executor it is probably in the 10-12 km range also the imperium likes to board and ram something not as common in starwars
The scarab wins by sheer looks alone
I would like to think the Scarab sprints like a spider around the AT AT and drop kicks its fucking legs and the AT AT just falls over.
I always wondered why the Covenant didn't add shields to the scarabs. They're literally giant walking targets.
Snowspeeder versus Banshee
Catpirate depends, do snowspeeders have shields? I forget if they do.
Also the type and era of banshee would need to be specified. Although Banshees are more iconically known as such, they are not the covenants main starfighter, the Seraph is.
Also Banshees during the height of the covenant did not have shields. After the disolution of the covenant, The covenant factions had less access to resources, thus they put shields on Banshees as Seraphs were more resource intensive. The Banshees finally became the starfighter of the covenant splinter groups.
How about a Banshee vs a Tie Fighter?
Actually it was a starfighter before that. We see space Banshee's in Halo Reach.

Well I was trying to make it fair but yeaj
My friend asked me “Alright, but what if there were TWO AT - AT’s?”
Well to answer his question, I die at pretty much the same rate from either of the Scarab’s cannons (which is pretty quick), and since they can shoot at two different points, the Scarab would most likely still win.
You did a good job on the analysis of the AT-AT and the Sarab.
AT-ATs problem is it’s speed and turning and having problems with quick deployment so all you need to beat it is just out maneuver it and eventually you win
i subbed for the star wars content but all these videos with halo stuff in them makes me want to get into halo
I feel the scars would shit on the AT-AT mainly because
The scarab is mostly called in from orbit so it could land on top of the ATAT
It can turn
It shoots a continuous beam of plasma with a canon on the top, with the 2 plasma guns on the side
You have to destroy the engine inside the scarab which you have to walk inside, or blow the back off, to shoot at it
well, let us look at one other thing, the super scarab (halo 2) and the normal scarab we see in the other halo games both are actually downgraded in their games, as it is said that the lasers can easily melt through a city block, this is extremely relevant since scarabs are actually not fully reversed engineered, and were originally mining platforms by the forerunners, and the only way the covenant were even able to pilot these is by having the hunter worms control it, so the main gun on these weapon platforms would be able to shred the at-at in one or two full beams, if not one since all the empire has really to worry about is blaster fire, they would not expect a continuous beam of plasma which could melt the armor.
Funk Man Tim no the scarab in halo 2 is not a super scarab it is a older model compared to the newer scarabs
kyle lowe it’s two different modes The Halo 2 model is The Type 47A model and yes older but it’s bigger and it’s main cannon is stronger but the Type 47B The Halo 3 Model is faster smaller has better secondary Cannons and a weaker main Cannon
Jesse Nicoletta Lekgolo and yes.
Does that mean you would have to train it? Example: no, bad scarab! Put down the elite!
A competent Lek'golo Gestalt.
Gonna state before video starts: Scarab wins.
A covenant scarab will have a better chance against a walker, but if it was a Banished scarab, they'd absolutely win just with their much more powerful laser.
Also spirt of fire vs hammerhead corvette (rebels).
Spirit of fire 10 out of 10 no explanation needed.
XxDarkLordxX100 spirt of fire is not a war ship. It's a colonization ship turned carrier. Meant for ground operations. It wasn't particularly well armed for a halo ship nor well armored.

Vulture gunship (halo) vs. LA-AT (starwars) i would find this very interesting
Chibi Nekko I feel like the LA-AT would win due to its speed but the armaments of the vulture could easily destroy it so it would be a tough one
A more fair fight would be against a pelican gunship.
How about a Condor Gunship from HW2?
Aspect of Bløød I said a fair fight, not a massacre. The condor may be a lot slower, but it makes up for that in ultra heavy armor and fast powerful Spartan laser blasts.
Aspect of Bløød that thing has a mini mac on its belly.
I’d also like to point out that the scarab in halo 3 is actually a colony of lekgolo (hunter) worms being that the scarab has sentience it is quicker to respond and implement self preservation not to mention that hunters are known to be very good strategizers hence how they got labeled hunters
The Flood Vs. Rakghoul plague
Edit- Not a battle but which is worse to encounter.
I just went to the wiki and read the first paragraph of the rakghoul plague. The flood is way worse: The most advanced civilization in halo could only do a universe wide genocide to stop the flood, not kill it, to try and preserve what was left of the universe from becoming food for the flood.
XxDarkLordxX100 I also read it a minute ago bad idea. Any suggestions
XxDarkLordxX100 Technically the Forerunners caused the Flood to be made by killing the Precursors.
Of course, the Flood.

Scarab would win because his energy beam would easily go through the AT-AT.
Yeah I like the AT-AT, giant mecha camels are cool and all, but they need to be put in their place. A Covenant Scarab would chew them up for lunch
Lobot vs Cortana
A human who had his emotions erased for a super computer for a brain to take care of and run Cloud City, or Cortan, a Super A.I. who can control and overide even Forerunner technology. Whose the better calculator?
I guarantee the scarab would win every time. The at at blasts would do next to nothing to the scarab, where as the blast from the scarab is plasma hotter then the sun, and would take it in one or two hits
chris pearson the lasers would prove ineffective, the main reason why the scarab spites is because it shoots plasma, which would wreck the atat
I have to say the fact that the AT-AT can easily blow up buildings, he neglects, The scarab is tough but i think the main lasers can do some serious damage to it. Especially when you look at starwars laser-strength (like turbolasers)
Ardith Prime provided it gets that far,and the scarabs added manuverability makes that doubly so
Well according to starwars books, including the one Eckhart used for his Stardestroyer VS infinity, Large laser cannons do 6 megatonnes per shot, So even if the scarab can win, we can assume The AT-AT's Heavy lasers can probably blow big holes in the scarab if it hits
Hotter than the sun? Maybe the surface, But the Multi-trillion kelvin core? A single shot would melt the planet.

The vital systems are still controlled manually, such as firing the weapon and giving directional movement.
Can't trust the Lekgolo with everything now, can we?
There was a book I read at the library of halo characters and etc collection. It said scarabs are a type of alien.
Durzo Blint In halo 3 we have seen them drop more than one before. I dont think it would be too hard for the covenant to drop a substantial amount in.
Isnt the Scarab a Letgolo colony?
Eking Yes, the Scarab is a super heavy infantry unit.
Double A Batteries With a damn Energy Projector to boot.

Eking yep
Sometimes I find it terrifying that the Covenant could get the Lekgolo worms to do their bidding... Like piloting a giant mech

Please do a unsc frigate (halo) vs C90 Blockade runner (Star Wars)
Wich Frigate? There are alot of different Typs.
LittleDragon453- Minecraft and more The frigates mac gun would ruin a a ship of that side.
Jamie Gray but the mac is built into the ship, so if the c90 can try stay on the frigates flank, it could stand some semblance of a chance
bjaminrowe but the range of the mac puts the corvette at a disadvantage as it won't be able to get close enough to get behind the frigate.
Zann Consortium Aggressor Class Star Destroyer vs UNSC Remberance Class Frigate
In an overall conflict, I'd call The Empire as the winner. However, in THIS specific case, I'd have to give it to The Scarab.
Feels like a little bit of fanboyism
Even if it's an opinion that doesn't seem to be shared by many, I think the ATAT would win. The heavy lasers have more range and enough power to shred a Scarab with no problems way before the scarab can shoot the deathbeam. Even if the heavy lasers aren't powerful enough to destroy the Scarab in a couple of shots, they have a good AOE, so they could hit the legs unintentionally, grounding the Scarab and leaving it vulnerable to be pounded by heavy laser fire.

Surprised you didn't mention at ata can't even be deployed in not much terrain like the scarab
