God I love this. Cleese hilarious as usual. I'm laughing on April 1, 2018..good start to this day. One needs a good laugh now days! Thank you dear man..and I'm grabbing my pencil again. Mr. Skavlan, what a delightful interview. I had to watch this again..still laughing a bit and definitely enjoying this video.
I loved John Cleese when he lent his voice to the character Cadwell in Elder Scrolls Online. He is a mad, yet lovable undead knight who uses cookware as armor. Very Don Quixote-like character. I hope they hire him in upcoming expansions.
It's an arcane device used by the ancient Babylonians, I think. It works by constantly making it shorter. It gets shorter while you write, until it won't work any more. Then, paradoxically, you have to put it in a different device, a shortening-it-even-further device, which makes it work again. Sometimes if you write especially vigorously, it will get much shorter instantly, and you have to shorten it even *more* with the shortening-it-even-further device, which may well lead you to writing with a very short stump between your fingers. Hence, you mustn't *really* want to write too much.
I didn't even recognise this as Swedish at first, it was only until I recognised the mannerisms and the way people look that I deduced this was Swedish television. That's how strange the Swedish language to an unfamiliar English speaker. Anyway, great interview!
Interesting. What about the guests, the other part of that question - there are a lot of scandinavian names not known to us in Britain and elsewhere. Whereabouts in the region are they from?
Ah yeah. no, the guests can be from any place in Skandinavia(norway, sweden, and Danmark) we all pretty much understand each other, with special guest from around the world. And the two other people there I think are Norwegian
Assuming that it wasn't broadcast to TV or cinema for any reason, I get a feeling that any portable cameras available in the 1950s wouldn't be common place enough in the general public to guarentee anyone was there filming it.
Iceland volcano erupted, no flights, and John Cleese hired a taxi to drive him - cost £5,100 - from Scandinavia to Brussels! Funny, thought Germany had excellent trains, is that not true of Scandinavia?
Alexander Toft Karlsson No shit, lol. Just sitting there laughing by himself, pretending that he is actually understanding something. I actually feel a bit awkward for him. You can just tell by the looks of his eyes that he has no god damn clue whats going on
You are not sure if he indeed does not understand nor if he does. Yes, logically, some things he misses, but the good thing about comedy, is that you laugh, because other people laugh as well. Positivity has that affect on people and it's nothing to be ashamed of.
@@Mozart1220 You can’t seriously believe that? The rest of the world would be laughing at you, if we weren’t worried sick about where this was heading.
LuneyTune72 That's exactly what I thought when I first watched this show. I thought the interviewer is terrible, he seems like he's stuttering when he talks and how the guests look uncomfortable but as I watched more episodes, I actually noticed how engaged he is when talking w his guests. He asks sensible questions unlike the American chat shows full of fake laughs and pointless clapping after every sentence.
I just adore John Cleese the man is hilarious

The original pothead, literally.

My goal in life is to be a genius man child like John Cleese
Every time John Cleese laughs, I think he’s dying
He is like a sun coming out after a gloomy day
Ponte Ryuurui you meant- like a pool of bats piss....
What's that device John is holding about 4:00 in the video?
I thought I saw one once in school in 1997 but I've never used one.

@@Yngvarfo My my what a fascinating find! I wonder if they knew how tedious it was or if they thought it was what needed to be done to write?
John Cleese & The Ministry of Funny Walks!.....& No Jokes Tonight!
0:09 John channelling Chapman
He's great!!!
I would have liked to have asked about his favourite parrot (not the Norwegian Blue).
Beautiful man 💖
John, the definition of optimism is a nine inch pencil with a quarter inch eraser!
someone please buy John some socks
Fantastic to see the effortlessly perfect Scandinavians in their language (here Swedish). Great work!
They dont need a language.
I would LOVE to see a conversation between John Cleese and Jordan Petersen
Ända orsaken att titta in på detta program . Legend John Cleese
I didn't even recognise this as Swedish at first, it was only until I recognised the mannerisms and the way people look that I deduced this was Swedish television. That's how strange the Swedish language to an unfamiliar English speaker.
Anyway, great interview!
the talk show is hosted by a Norwegian
So all the dialogue here is Norwegian, the guests are Norwegian and so on?
All the dialogue is Norwegian yes:) but the show is produced and located in Sweden Stockholm

Just 1 problem here in my eyes i wish they had edited it so i dun have to see Löfven in the same clip
10:32 lmao
Does anyone know if Cleeses play of Faust can be found online?

@@MrSceneNine You're right, thank you.
@@GewaltbereiterJean-LucPicard I understand your intrigue though. It would be great to see his first role.
@@MrSceneNine Absolutely! Furthermore I consider Faust as one of the best books ever written.
From what year and date?
The other guests only disturb to the interview

Hmm. So basically we should blame John Clesse for climate change?
Apparently there were no train tickets available - peculiar, but there you have it.
Can someone explain the submarine joke where he says "you know about a submarine(?)"
I think there was a hunt of a suspected russian submarine in swedish waters around the time when this was recorded.
@@Dannewee No way! Makes a lot of sense now. Thanks for the reply.
So Cleese decided to trei a høliday in Sweden that yër?
Stefan Löfven feels a bit of out of place in this.
Yes he is

They were probably TOLD to laugh or else

“What a mess America is.” It’s not getting any better.
It is getting better. Trump left a big steaming mess, but as usual we Libs will clean up after...

What a mess that is.
There you have it USA
What a weird show, terrible vibe. John Cleese is a trooper/professional putting up with these awkward people
i thought the same!! its JOHN CLEESE, man!!
People say this about everything, it's just their own lack of control of their imagination. John Cleese is doing fine because he feels well enough.
I'm British and I have no idea what you're on about. This is great, not everything needs to be pre-scripted by publicists.

Omg I disagree - big time! I love this show. It’s very natural and laid back. Everyone was laughing- what are you on about?
