The tutorials and workshops that Adam and Alec are putting on are VERY helpful. As a long timer user of ACDsee Pro products I learn something new every time I watch one. These pro level products are not given the respect in the photographic community they deserve. These videos are helping to change that - please keep them coming!

Wow, this is EXACTLY what I needed! Perfect speaking and showing speed, and precise steps on workflow. Any DAM is complex by nature, and I never got into LR fully due to that reason alone...the DAM was SO complex, and daunting even. I guess I just lucked out by finding this video first off. LOVE the fact that what you see in ACDSee is the exact same thing you see in Windows Explorer. That was not the case w LR (at least a few versions ago), and one of the things that confused me the most. One question, why even designate any photos with a 1 (delete)? Just delete the sucker and save you a step. Or am I missing something?

I am looking for a DAM able to TAG several people in the same photo, but all the tutorials show always one person only.

Dommage....

      Thanks CJ!
Honestly it's just an easygoing spa-esque background track that we bought on a commercial license site. I'm afraid it's been so long I don't remember, hahah, sorry!

Only one question about organising your photographs. For various historical reasons I have categorisation information in the TAG field viewable through windows explorer - I would like to make use of this. Can ACDsee DIRECTLY access this tag information and make use of it in the digital management process AND can it update this tag field at all. I have watched the tutorial so I know there are several alternatives but my questions relate solely to the TAG facility available in Windows Explorer

Personally, I have that same question as well now that you bring it up. But, if ACDSee has not answered you for 3 weeks now, perhaps they won't be doing so. I think that technically it should be feasible to incorporate the Windows Explorer media tags (and author, title, caption, etc. for that matter) but ACDSee's programmers apparently have not bothered to incorporate that function into ACDSee. Whether they will or will not also is the issue.

To me the ACDsee DAM seems to be restricted to one disk and does not address images off loaded to removable disks. What happens for instance, if some of the images on the main drive are moved to other disks? Is there a database backing the DAM that recognizes the move and marks those images visually as missing and then as connected when the disks(s) are connected again? I do not get the impression there is such capability.

The database will record when assets are moved to other disks, but only if the move operation is done within ACDSee.
Removable disks by default are excluded from the database, because they are removable and so might be missing. That can be changed from Tools > Database > Excluded Folder Settings.
ACDSee doesn't have any real system for marking images as missing or offline if they are on a missing removable drive. They will show up normally in searches, but if you try to take them to another mode they will be reported as an orphan.
