She had decided that she didn't want to issue a statement on the topic at that moment and that's her right. No one can force her to answer questions from a reporter that she wasn't ready to answer. She really doesn't have to talk to any reporters, ever, if she doesn't want to. There are plenty of lawmakers that don't.
