It's just as good as Descent/Zombicide, and the figures are spectacular, and your skills as a painter would do more than justice to them. You got me back into gaming with your painting tutorials, as well as re-energized my passion for the hobby, so I'm trying to help expand your own gaming/painting if I can by telling you about the Village Attack game. Grimlord Games also do a very nice space based game (skirmish level) with amazing minis, and they are MUCH cheaper and more value for money than a certain Games manufacturer :-) Thanks again for this wonderful tutorial, as I have some shark based conversions I did waiting to be painted, but couldn't work out how to do the reverse split color scheme properly. Really great techniques here. For the realistic water from woodland scenics, do you think it offers anything that say another brand doesn't? I have a couple of water types from AK, but they are for specific types of water and I use clear water from Secret weapon at the moment (tiny bottle though, so have to see how much longer it lasts). The size of the bottle does seem nice, if you are using water a lot, but is there any other advantages you could see?

Hey Mark - I had a question about using varnishes to seal small gaps. I find that no matter what I do, there's always a small "groove" still visible along the gap. Do you use a gloss varnish over the seam first, and then a matt varnish? I get the same problem with Vallejo's putty & liquid green stuff. Only regular green stuff putty seems to work for me.
Hey mate! No I don't use gloss varnish first. I think for larger gaps I also have to use regular Green Stuff, but for small gaps I find the matt varnish trick is OK :)
It's amazing how you get everything covered in one go. I use Army painter and even the third time it still doesn't cover everything. is very frustrating when wet blending. and valljeo retarder doesn't seem to work well with army painter paints either. I have big problems with that. the next will then be VMC. your tutorials are great, even if they are older. keep it up, looking forward to your bloodrage figures. I've learned a lot from you. Hi! Well, for Dark Sea Blue you can use Stegadon Scale Green. I can't remember what other colours I used without re-watching the video, but if you name the colours you'd like a conversion for just let me know! :)

One of my Merriods came in bad shape. :( The left mouth limb/antenna is bent all the way into the face which is going to be impossible to paint. Is it safe to bend it back somehow? Thanks.
Hi David! You can carefully submerge the distorted part of the mini in some boiled water to soften the plastic, then re-shape it to you liking, and quickly put it in some cold water to cool it back down, and it should stay in place. :)
@@Sorastro UPDATE: So I tried this out a couple of weeks ago. I added some boiling water to a cup and had a cup of cold water next to it. I couldn't quite get the problem area to exclusively dip so I just dipped the whole damn thing in there for 3-4 seconds. I pulled him out and he was all floppy and wobbly! I panicked before dropping him into the cold water. I feared for his life before pouring the water into the sink whilst catching him. Like magic he had reverted back to his original mold position! Anyway, a couple of days later he had gone back to his deformed pose, so I repeated the process once more. He's now permanently in his intended state. :) So yep, for anyone else reading the process may take two or three repeats. Because I have massive OCD I then went through my entire set of miniatures picking out the ones with warped bases and peculiar poses. They all took a boiling hot paddle and as a result no longer wobble when placed on a flat surface. :) This is going to make following your basing tutorials for the Merriods and the Shadow Dragons much more satisfying. Thanks!! On closer inspection I now have some severe issues with my Syndrael, but I'll drop that into her video.

One of my Merriods came in bad shape. :( The left mouth limb/antenna is bent all the way into the face which is going to be impossible to paint. Is it safe to bend it back somehow? Thanks.
Hi David! You can carefully submerge the distorted part of the mini in some boiled water to soften the plastic, then re-shape it to you liking, and quickly put it in some cold water to cool it back down, and it should stay in place. :)

@@Sorastro UPDATE: So I tried this out a couple of weeks ago. I added some boiling water to a cup and had a cup of cold water next to it. I couldn't quite get the problem area to exclusively dip so I just dipped the whole damn thing in there for 3-4 seconds. I pulled him out and he was all floppy and wobbly! I panicked before dropping him into the cold water. I feared for his life before pouring the water into the sink whilst catching him. Like magic he had reverted back to his original mold position!
Anyway, a couple of days later he had gone back to his deformed pose, so I repeated the process once more. He's now permanently in his intended state. :) So yep, for anyone else reading the process may take two or three repeats.
Because I have massive OCD I then went through my entire set of miniatures picking out the ones with warped bases and peculiar poses. They all took a boiling hot paddle and as a result no longer wobble when placed on a flat surface. :) This is going to make following your basing tutorials for the Merriods and the Shadow Dragons much more satisfying. Thanks!!
On closer inspection I now have some severe issues with my Syndrael, but I'll drop that into her video.
