it frustrates me how ft island is so freaking underrated. it's hard for a real band to survive in the kpop world. as an infinite fan myself i know it's the dance music that thrive here... but i appreciate hongki's vocal so much... personally for myself i find that he has the best voice in kpop. it's not only good and distinct but it is also able to tug on my emotional heartstring. the way he delivers emotions especially for their sad song (don't love, after love and bad woman etc etc...) just leaves me speechless every time. that being said yes i appreciate their sad songs much more. love love love, hello hello, i wish etc are great (definitely in the ipod ;) ) but the emotional songs are just nothing but AMAZING.

I've had people start fights with me online because I've seen comments on FT Island videos downgrading them, or talking about another group in the comments and promoting them. It's funny, in America, a lot of people in the industry care a lot about if you can sing and play an instrument as well. You're like a double-threat. A lot of Western singers/groups of singers don't always really dance, they stand and sing and sing and play instruments. I have met people who listen to that type of stuff from America...But then all the K-Pop they're into is just the dancing groups that don't play instruments, only dance and sing. To me, that doesn't make much sense to enjoy all the American singers/bands, but in the K-Pop world, you don't care about the talented people there who do the same? I don't think that's fair. They're so talented. FT Island and CN BLUE are such talented bands. Both have great lead vocalists and great songs. I just.....It hurts my heart to see people who deserve appreciation not being appreciated fully. It's sad that that really doesn't matter as much in Korea. A lot has to do with the companies too. Hongki very openly has admitted issues with the company they're signed with. He's very open about it. They don't promote them well in Korea and Hongki has voiced how dissatisfied that makes him. When "Memory" and the 6th Anniversary mini-album was released, Hongki was upset that they only promoted them and the album/title song for about 2 weeks. Japan though, they're different. They see the worth of people who have strong vocals and can play instruments. Bands are appreciated well there. That's why Korean bands like FT Island promote in Japan other parts of Asia a lot more than Korea. They even addressed this issue a little in the drama "Shut Up Flower Boy Band". The band in the group was being told they'd have a better shot as a band in Japan than they will in Korea, and to go to Japan, but they refused the offer. I don't think a lot of people realize how true that was, that wasn't some fake act. It's hard to be a band in Korea. All the dancing groups matter most to everyone, and that hurts my heart a little.
Christina Norman : I was introduced to the K pop world thourgh CNBLUE , i got to know FTISLAND through a random video on YT , Hongki singing confession ( ♥__♥ ) , i didn't know they were from the same compagny .. and as a CNBLUE fan , i'm so mad at their compagny for not promoting FT island well ( sometime i'm going to tweet that to the official page of FNC xD) On aside note , i really feel that the right song for Hongki voice wasn't written yet ! I wish he compose songs so that he knows what works with his voice ! CNBLUE is doing well because yonghwa knows what matches his voice and that why they are doing well in korea.

I just feel like crying seeing Honggi sing, and the band playing. Honggi is singing live, with so much emotions. The first reason why I fell in love with them. Even if I dont know korean, I could just feel like crying seeing him sing, and expressing his deep emotions. Very very intense!

They are not underrated act but tbh they're being forgotten with so many k-groups growing nowadays. They were really popular back then right after they debuted, they won so many awards even during their rookies' days(2007). The prob here is their FnC company who doesn't promote them well(maybe). FnC always sent them to Japan and that's the reason why they rarely make comeback in Korea. I'm so frustrated act bc they were not really popular now as they were before. You never know how I wish them to hv the same popularity as CNBlue which all members promoting themselves in dramas. Glad to hear that now hongki, jonghoon, seunghyun are acting now. They're trying harder now going back from the 1st to get their title back. Even I'm boice first but I love FT Island more bc I really love all their songs. Then, I become primadonna. Respect them as a true artist bc they all can sing despite of playing instruments(Bow head down). Sorry for such a long comment, l got emotional all the way here talking about FT Island.
