That was an Anteater? I always thougt it was a front facing scorpion, then wondered why they would put 2 scorpions as bosses in the same game, lol Edit: now that i see it, the second one is an earwig, so to me it went from 2 scorpions to no scorpions
@@Rodspulloff I believe your original assumption was actually correct. The third boss in Adventure Island 2 is not an "anteater", but, in fact, a front facing scorpion. As far as I know, there is no such insect as an "anteater"' - what you're thinking of is called an antlion (which is what the first boss in Adventure Island 3 actually is). As for the seventh boss in AI2, it is, as you correctly noted, an earwig. A male earwig, to be exact, judging by the shape of the pincers. The first boss seems to be some kind of a mostly fictional, parasitic plant. Judging by its texture, it could be a snow plant (Sarcodes Sanguinea), which in reality is red, much like its damaged, secondary state in-game. The fifth boss is definitely not a bat. It's an insect of some kind. I haven't been able to identify it. All I can say, with some certainty, is that it has elytra - hardened forewings that protect the wings, as seen on many winged insects. Those do not actually flap during flight - notice how, in-game, only one pair of the wings actually move, the other does not. Judging by its overall shape and features, it looks like a firefly, but with pincers instead of light-emitting organs on its lower abdomen. Its head appears to be largely fictionalized, with four eyes, akin to spiders. The sixth boss, the hawk, is mostly accurate to the real deal, with the exception of the head, most notably the beak. The head has HUGE frills to give it a more unique, unnatural appearance, and the beak is straight, like on storks and many prehistoric birds, while on real hawks, it's curved, like a hook. The eight boss is, correctly, a larva, but because the ninth boss is a fly, one could assume that the eight is a fly larva. It isn't. It's a mosquito larva. Strangely, much like an adult, it has a proboscis (the tube used to suck blood), which is not present in the larval stage, IRL. So I suppose this "larva" is actually a combination of both adult mosquito and larval mosquito traits. NOTE: I am not an expert on flora or fauna, just a fan of this game who's curious about the boss designs. Nothing I said is anything but an opinion, anyone can feel free to correct me.
@@petervitkov361 This was very interesting to read ! Thanks for taking the time :) I'm no expert myself and I named them by what I though was the closest thing that could fit.
Yeah they're pretty similar, though they at least change things around with stuff like the octopus's icicles and slippery floors, the antlion's quicksand, the bird being an autoscroller.. and they're pretty good designs, so they're still an absolute LEAP from AI1 using the same guy seven times with almost no actual variation.

I think there is a mistake in the boss names, becasue the one of the isle 3, more than anteater, it fits more in scorpion description becasue its claws, or in its defects maybe is an antlion. And the one of the 7th isle is not a scorpion, thas is a earwig, becasue the tail is a scisor and not a sting, and has antenas.
Nunca pude terminarlo porque no guarda las armas y dinosaurios que recolectas automaticamente y lo peor es que casi no ay armas ni dinosaurios en los jefes finales del juego
No you are not the only one. I managed to beat the game as a kid never fighting it and on one of my replays decided to not skip island 5 just to see what the boss was.
I got stuck on the octopus for like weeks even months on end as a kid. Kept trying it over and over and over and I just kept sliding all over the place. Hated that boss so much it gave me legit hatred towards ice. Now as an adult when I see ice I get irritated.

@@Rodspulloff It is not, anteaters do not have claws. That boss has pinches probably a crustacean or a scorpion, most likely a scorpion.
Of all the boss ideas to come up with, an *ICE OCTOPUS?* ❄ 🐙
Probably because it was easy to design though they could have made a seal or a penguin though penguin would probably be too cute to be a boss.
@@endefisto123 Okay then, why not a Polar Bear? They will kill and devour anything, including human beings!
@@edwardgaines6561 that also makes sense but I assume it is harder to design.

That's why the 3rd one is better. Slightly harder bosses!
Only the birdboss is different

I forgot how many of the bosses in this game were insects
Only three of them.

I agree with you, although I have doubts about the boss of island 1, he seems to be a mushroom
these bosses were actually better then the first game since it was the same with a different nt face on it

Seriously? A pineapple as an enemy? There's no way that a pineapple can be "that bad."
Well, there are games where the bosses are bananas, a cloud, a sun light...... why not an evil pineapple trying to kill you? :P
They put it on a pizza
