    Jared and Jordan, perhaps a few words to the Bar Manager might have corrected the staffing issue at Cellar Masters. As usual, thanks for the informative video. BTW, gentlemen, would you know whether the elevators on Deck 10 mid-ship open aft or to the port or starboard side? We're wondering if suite guests open their door and see guests waiting for elevators-- which might be a bummer due to the noise level. Thank you!

    This ship was my first celebrity experience and absolutly fell in love with her. Sailed on her again last may from Honolulu to Vancouver and doing a sister ship this may west coast. for everything they had to endure while stalled for over a year i think they will bring back many things when there sailing at full speed again. Captain Leo is the best captain I've ever had the pleasure of sailing with.

    I agree with you about the Celebrity Central space, it's like they didn't know what to do with the space, so they just sort of made something up. It is small and in the way of getting to other places as well. I have no idea why they only have one person at the Wine Cellar, but, on our cruises, it was closed a lot of the time. They could definitely do a lot more with this area by having enough staff and making it a place you want to hang out in.

    Nice video, I’m just curious I’ve always been concerned with celebrity that the crowds would be very old in general, and that the bar is at night would not have a lot of musical entertainment similar to Royal Caribbean that every night till midnight would have a piano bar a Latin band and a guitar player in three different bars how was it on the eclipse nightly? How many bars have musical entertainment until what time? Thank you in advance to anyone that might be able to give some advice on these questions.

    I have sailed Solstice Class 9 times and Eclipse was my first. Cellar Masters is mostly a self service venue with auto dispensers or is used for wine classes and tastings. I too, wish that they had a real bar and made it a full service wine bar. The Lawn Club Grill is only available on two Solstice class ships, the Silhouette and the Reflection, which are the two newest Solstice Class.

    I enjoyed your review. A couple of the things you mentioned are not really down my alley (for instance the wine tasting and that French-style restaurant), but I like listening to your experiences and opinions. I've never been on a cruise before, but I have a cruise booked in mId-October of this year (2024) - just 3 months away! I'm excited and nervous about it. Luckily, I'm going with 2 experienced cruisers, so hopefully that will eliminate some of the stress I'm feeling. Great Review, We have sailed 4 times 2011-2013 & 2017 and have been on the Constellation , Silhouette , Eclipse, and Millennium. The later 3 were in Aqua Class and we just love Blu... Who doesn't? We are seeking advice as we are debating between 2 cruises this year at Christmas. One on the Eclipse Valparaiso to Bueno Aries. or the Edge from Sydney to Sydney via New Zealand.
    It is a tough decision because we've always heard great things about South America , some cruisers have told us it is number 2 or 3 on their favorite all time cruises. However the thought of being on Edge for the first time coupled with a good venue like New Zealand if very enticing. How long are the excursion from the ports, anything under and hour 15 minutes is great but I hate 2.5 to 3 each way excursions. I have seen some of your reviews of New Zealand and it looks pretty nice. We would love some input from anyone who has some ideas suggestion on which one they feel is better and why. Thanks for your great content I just discovered you all last week and have enjoyed your video's a lot. P.S. - We live Cellar Masters and have enjoyed the wine events immensely on past cruises but based on what I have heard about the 2023 to the drinks pagage I wonder if they are moving away from a wine focus? Especially since they only had 1 person in the Cellar.

    Hi guys! We were on the Sydney to New Zealand portion of you same cruise on the Eclipse. The ship needs to be renovated! We are Celebrity Elite +, so have lots of Celebrity experience. We were thoroughly disappointed in the food quality in the MDR, and even in Tuscan. The ship seemed completely understaffed, bar service was terrible. We were on the Apex to Iceland in July, and while service and food was better, we were very disappointed with the ship. Do not like the Edge class at all. We have 2 cruises on tap for next year, but have been so thoroughly disappointed with Celebrity, we are,seriously considering another cruise line.

    We just got off the Eclipse two days ago in Sydney after cruising New Zealand. The crew was fantastic but our biggest complaint was the food. We’ve cruised before in Aqua class and loved the Blu restaurant however we were late booking and it was sold out so we took a stern facing cabin and used the main dining room. The one perk to our cabin was that we were assigned the upper floor of the dining room which was a bit more intimate and the maitre d’ was excellent. The food was okay to start but seemed to get more and more tired as the cruise progressed. We made friends with a German couple who regularly sent things back. 😢

    I was wondering why you did not mention the significant Celebrity 2023 cutbacks until I realized this was a 2022 Halloween cruise. Celebrity has made drastic cutbacks in food quality and added new charges--like room service and 2nd lobster. We recently got off Reflection and the cutbacks are very noticeable.

    • @JJCruise
      @JJCruise  Год назад +13

      Although cutbacks are tough, they are seen across every cruise line. We saw them on NCL last week and on Carnival this week (and expect to see them on every cruise line we cruise this year).
      No one likes cutbacks, but we understand these cutbacks aren’t siloed to the cruise industry and are very minimal in scope to what the overall cruise vacation provides.
      We would much rather not have a second lobster than have no shows and would rather pay for room service than have trays of food go to waste causing overall cruise prices to rise.
      Of course, cutbacks are never preferable but the ones that have happened are reasonable and honestly exaggerated by some media outlets, including some RUclips channels. NCL is the only cruise line we have seen a huge cutback in crew which has made things hard for their offerings such as the Unlimited Drink Package as there are only 1-2 bartenders at each bar. That said, it’s just a longer wait for drinks not a limit on drinks, so once again, not a huge issue.
      Hope this helps give some insight into our thoughts! Sorry your cruise wasn’t what you experienced in the past, but hopefully overall it was a good cruise! ☺️

    • @jamess5154
      @jamess5154 Год назад +1

      @@JJCruise The room service and other new charges did not bother us much since we rarely do room service and specialty dining. And we were hoping Celebrity would just raise prices to at least keep up the quality of what they normally offer. Our 2 biggest problems were the cutback in food quality--even in Blu--but especially in MDR. For example they did not even have prime rib in MDR and in Blu my lobster looked like it had smoked as a youth and stunted his growth. I have seen bigger crawdad tails. But since we were in Blu I could get another for free. And all the cuts of meat were just not as good as before. And while they seem to have kept the shows good the rest of the lounge entertainment (which we like) has certainly gotten worse.
      We were on several other lines in late 2022 and the cutbacks did not seem as drastic. But that was also true for Celebrity in Dec 2022 which means if the other lines, which I think already started below Celebrity, made just as big of cutbacks cruising may be off our list once we finish the ones we have booked already.

      On NCL last week, they are only cleaning the cabin once a day, on 3 days, the cabin had not been done at 3 pm. We couldn’t even go out on the balcony because it looked as not having been cleaned in weeks, it had paint scrapping all over the floor and the chairs; the cabin steward hadn’t even noticed that the lever could hardly be turned to go to the balcony which meant he had not gone out there to clean the balcony. The table, the railing and the glass on the doors were full of sea salt. The food was only hot in the specialty restaurants, everywhere else the food was cold. Bad experience overall.

    I don't like the foyer activities and Celebrity used to not do this. On the secondary foyer area there's the nightclub and the secondary theater. The theater seats can be taken out and changed. But I think the theater can host the kinds of stuff they're trying to do in the foyer area. I just think it's a force to use that area like that. Also, Michael's wasn't just for suite passengers so that's another area that could have had some activities but more quiet types due to its style. At some point, Cellar Masters will be changed to Craft Social. I like Cellar Masters better as I like wine better than beer but it'll be a sports bar for watching games and sporting events.

    I cruised the Celebrity Solstice as a single, (Australia) my first Celebrity cruise. I found the ship to be very much a couples cruise/ship. I loved the ship and the atmosphere found it was upper level to the other ships i had cruised with, Carnival, P&O and Royal Caribbean being more party family type atmosphere. I would definitely go again but with my partner. My one complaint, Bar staff would leave the bar and go and serve or go collect glasses and leave a bar empty for 30 mins plus and it happened a lot and at times they would just close a bar. Head scratching stuff. I enjoy listening to you guys, clear, precise and informative. Keep up the good work. Here in Australia we still have a no vax, no cruise policy which means i cannot cruise anymore but i still dream and watch videos. Cheers

    Was on Celebrity Eclipse from Vancouver to Alaska from Aug 21-Aug 28. Been on over 35 cruises and this was among the worst. Main dining room service was very poor, so was the dinner menu choices, seems they were drastically trying to cut costs. Bar service on deck 3 (Passport Bar) was terrible. Bar tenders seemed to be in a lousy mood the whole cruise, probably had many complaints. Room attendant seemed to lack experience. Booked a concierge balcony cabin and had to ask for amenities like shampoo the first night. Cabin was on deck 10 port side. Picked this cruise to see Hubbard Glacier and chose balcony room so we could view Glacier from our balcony. The captain had starboard side of ship facing glacier for well over an hour and only just over 10 minutes for port side. Doubt I'll sail on this ship again, too many better options.

    Hey guys! Great review, heading to your ship tour next. But question: I'm doing Celebrity Summit in June. The ship is loved, and I already can tell that it's going to likely move to the top of my faves. For years, it has sailed out of NYC... wouldn't you know that just as I'm about to discover it, the ship is moving and being replaced by Eclipse. So I guess my question is how you think those two ships compare. I don't get quite the same "OMG, I'm going to clearly love this ship" vibe from Ecclipse as I do from Summit. And I don't hear as many raves. But as we all know, that stuff is subjective.

    • @JJCruise
      @JJCruise  Год назад +1

      We love both ships! Eclipse is a different class which is a tad larger with some newer shows and a few different venues but many of the faves are still onboard such as Persian Gardens, World Class Bar, Cafe Al Bacio, and spa cafe!
      Though she is a bit larger, Eclipse and her class feels more similar to Summit and her class than the Edge class does. We believe you will love the Eclipse!

      @@JJCruise Meanwhile, must say that I agree with you about the Lawn Club. Honestly, I don't really "get" the purpose of the lawn. It's a nice idea, but doesn't seem all that useful/practical. Anyway, thanks, and keep up the amazing work.

      @@benjaminsmith2287 One of the big things is that I don't believe Ecclipse's Retreat area has been "revolutionized", where as the Summit has. The Summit is also a little bit more intimate. And Summit doesn't have the Lawn Club which, far as I'm concerned, is kind of a waste of space. (Maybe if Ecclipse had the lawn club specialty restaurant, as on some of the other ships... but as it is, just kind of a patch of grass for the sake of a patch of grass. lol

    We’ve sailed =X= for 2 decades. We have sailed on Eclipse four times and are approaching our fifth next month. Woot! You gents may want to check out Virgin, it may be more to your expectations. But you’re bad and ugly comments have been part of Celebrity for years. Another interesting observation is that every cruise, even on the same line and same ship, will be different. Your bad, and ugly may not be rated the same on the next Eclipse cruise, etc. Glad you guys are enjoying cruising and do encourage you to try other lines. Thank you for your commentary! Happy, cruising😊

      IT was never meant to host them. Don't know why Celebrity feels a need to do this when they have the big Sky lounge that's better for it. Games could be done in the secondary theater. if the ship had a Rendezvous lounge, that area could host it as well. But id doesn't. Ensemble is too small and just not the right space for it.

      @@JJCruise As you were in Aquaclass I don’t think you represent the majority of the cruising customers. The vast majority had to eat in the main dining rooms where we found the dishes to be bland, small and limited in their creativity.
      You didn’t mention drinks packages which if you only had the Classic Package was significantly limiting and at times made us feel “cheap”. Most of the drinks menus had 90% of the options outside of the Classic price range.
      If anyone is thinking of going Concierge Class, be careful. Many of the rooms on deck 10 have a roof over the balcony meaning the sun doesn’t shine in and you feel like you’re in a tunnel !
      I agree that the main ship shows are very good but you don’t mention the poor quality of guest artists. The comedian McCool was as funny as Covid and a magician should be a side show. Staff members were excellent and very friendly. Finally the biggest ugly was that Celebrity loaded up our credit card with unnecessary “pre approved” amounts, some four times the amount of the final invoice and whilst they will be reversed in time 2 weeks) they impact Credit availability!

    • @JJCruise
