This seems similar to the iconic W Class Melbourne tram. The wooden seats were located in the centre and the upholstered seats at either end. Wow, what a trip down memory lane.
Royal National Park branch which left the Illawarra rail a few hundred metres south of Loftus station. It closed in the mid 1980s. The present tram line joins onto the former rail lines around 100 metres before the Princes Highway crossing.
I believe that the old museum was being used as storage facilities but was severely damaged by fire some years ago. Is it still possible to see the site of the old museum?
True. Vandals set it on fire one night. Some reserve trams and buses were lost. Before long all the wreckage was removed. I suppose the ground is slowly returning to nature.
Ahh, the memories. Many thanks!. We went to this museum in the 90's,and had a ball 👍😊💯
Great! But the museum you visited is the new one seen briefly during construction at the end of the video.
@@tressteleg1 Yes, I think it was, as it had the old PO letter boxes and phone booths too ☺️
Not the slightest doubt that you went to the present site, not the green corrugated iron shed in the bush, the museum in this video.
Excellent video. I actually last visited the old museum site back in October 1983. Unfortunately, the Melbourne W2 wasn't in operation there then.
Thanks. You were there about 14 months too soon 😢

That is exactly what it is.
Do you have any footage of the nearby RNP branch line BEFORE it's closure?
Maybe there is a scene somewhere but I never set out to film or video it. I have more museum footage and if I find anything I’ll add any train views.
@@tressteleg1 Great!

I look forward to you posting more footage.Looking hard, trying to recognise anybody, we all seemed to be so young.

Many thanks for the info.@@tressteleg1
