Thought that she'd be a bigger star, but the music competition was pretty stiff for the airwaves circa 1982. And thanks for posting this. Solid Gold was a pretty big part of my teenage years. This is FAR superior to the official video for this song. Not only does it feature the best version (Laura's voice is far grittier on this one) but Laura also displays a lot more attitude and seems to enjoy herself tremendously. Great stuff.

Then I reheard this song, and wow, I came to the realization that Laura Brandigan is one of he most toxic people in the world. Why in the world does she care so much about "Gloria". I've had people just like her in my life and I had to get hem out. Gloria should have a song telling Laura to mind her own business and let her run her own life. I was 11! I loved her music. I knew the lyrics and belted them out so loud that my voice went wrasp/sexy and then I felt I achieved her greatness.. Incredibly gorgeous and unbelievable voice. With so much emotions.

Agree. This is a 'needle drop.' No matter, it's mesmerizing all the same. She could have sang the phone book, and I'd have paid money for the privilege of experiencing it-live or prerecorded!
Definitely lip syncing. Real singing is a physical thing. You would see more physicality in her torso and head and breathing. Whenever people are standing pretty chill and belting out notes you know it's BS.

I was 11! I loved her music. I knew the lyrics and belted them out so loud that my voice went wrasp/sexy and then I felt I achieved her greatness.. Incredibly gorgeous and unbelievable voice. With so much emotions.
