Will be getting my 2021 civic hatchback sport next week from the dealership and im checking for videos on how to dyi this 1.5L turbocharged engine. Will definitely save me a lot of money than bringing it to the shop to get serviced! Thanks for the video!
Great video! I just bought a 2019 civic touring. I have been reading alot about oil dilution. Now im worried. Should I be using special oil to protect against oil dilution since I live in a cold climate?
These 1.5 turbo engines have a big problem with gas diluting the oil. I just bought one and found out after. Sure enough my oil smells like straight gas
0-16 is more designed for hybrid vehicles, i am basing this off of mobil 1’s bottle, on their bottle it says. “designed for hybrid vehicles” somewhere along those lines.
0W-16 is mainly used on new Toyota Dynamic Force engines and Toyota engines paired with a hybrid system, it's super thin for tight tolerances and provides good fuel economy. I would recommend using 0W-20 for the 1.5T. 0W-16 is too thin and can cause extra wear on bearings etc.
Feb-2022. Thanks for the video. That's helpful for changing the oil. However, I was just changing the oil for the first time in our new 2021 Civic EX (1.5 turbo engine, like the one you show), and for the first time in 40 years of changing oil in various vehicles, I found that one cannot place a funnel into the oil fill opening without holding it in place with one's hand. I use 5 qt. oil containers and don't have the strength to hold the 5 qt container in one hand, while pouring into a funnel being held by the other hand. So I was hoping to find a funnel-like thingy that you had adapted to fit the oil fill hole threads, so oil could be poured without spilling and without having to hold the darn funnel. Still, I really appreciated the video, especially for showing removal of the pan beneath. Thanks.
Glad to help. What you need is a long nosed funnel. They sell them at various hardware stores, automotive or even Harbor Freight. It should help stay in place allowing you to use both hands to pour the oil. Good luck! Thanks for watching.
Thanks to my cousin for letting me work on his Honda Civic, but sure to check the video description for important links!
Thank you, watched your video to prevent my dumbass from breaking those clips. 🤣
Haha. Glad to help. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the info 👍
I'll be changing the oil on my Honda Civic for the first time 👌

Great vid! Fyi, on our 2020 civic si, the oil reset is “item A” (US purchased)
Good to know! Thanks for watching!!

Just stick with what the manufacturer recommends and you should be just fine. 0W20 oil will be just fine for you.
Thank you brother!
I have always prefilled the oil filter for years, only makes sense
Yep!
Great video, very helpful😎👍
Thank you!

Dang didn’t know that. This was my cousins car. He doesn’t have it anymore.
Do you know what the difference is between 0w-16 vs 0w-20 for this car?
I am not familiar with 0W16 oil. I've never heard of that. Just stick with the manufacturer recommended 0W20. This is good for cold climates.

Look for a quick flow funnel it’s short stubby and stays in place I literally just changed my oil on my car myself
very helpful 👍👍

How many miles does his civic have?
I can’t remember. And he sold it about 3 months later so he doesn’t have it anymore.
