They can't use a retaining wall because when the river over flows it's just going wash away . What they can use is so large boulders or big heavy rocks and puts them along side the road, forming a barrier

When I first heard the reporter say diver I thought it was government people 🤔 and then the reporter say the diver want compensation I was like 🤔 what kind of country is jamaica shouldn't it be government people around to do these things or what about people looking out for other people without expecting anythjng in return

Do you now see how stupid your comment is? It is quite possible to support those divers without placing blame through a political perspective.
The Government of Jamaica must put in place a retaining wall along flat Bridge Jamaica to prevent drivers from falling to their death in the river. The Flat Bridge in its current state is a health and safety risk and a death trap. They have a duty of care to the people using the Flat Bridge crossing and road.

Modern time now and that bridge is still standing.
Strong metal fencing...not a wall.
No retaining wall can not build in the gorge ,the water mark presently is way up on the hill side when the river come down , that whole area is water way .
Irresponsible actions often cause these unfortunate situations...overtaking . Preventative strategies need to be taken. Assign traffic police to the area. That could have helped. Many drivers are not responsible even though they know they have the life of passengers in their hands.
Need to replace the bridge altogether. Not sure why in the 21st century we STILL have such a small bridge and we have a foreign contractor in the of CHEC that upgrade it to a 4 lane bridge. There is nothing magical bout the Bridge. It just engineering and can be replaced as the geology of the area allows for such an upgrade!!!

Looking back on how many vehicles go over that river and this same diver has been asking for compensation and gear for a while now. It's a total shame.

Yes I understand that the divers should get a lil something for assisting to save lives because they are also putting their lives at risk but at the same time nobody is doing this humanity thing anymore. Most accidents in Jamaica are just careless drivers who dont value other people's lives muchless theirs, Jamaicans need to know that speeding kills, most of Jamaica roads are full of pot holes and people doing 70 miles per hour on a road that meant for 20 miles per hour and full of pot holes and craters, this government is not interested in rural areas.
