My #1 tip - Set your ranged fighters behavior to "Follow" themselves. Tank also follows him/herself and melee to follow the tank. There are other viable ways, but this has given me the best results. Have fun! ;)
D Perete They think in a more independent state of AI. For ranged fighters, this means they won't run too close to melee combat and get their faces kicked in. The tank will focus on keeping himself alive and monster control. And with the melee following the tank, they don't spread too far away from the tank. So the monsters are better clumped together to be burned down. And the tank can help protect the melee fighters since they are closer. To see my breakdown and examples of this, check out my Party, Tactics and Behaviors Guide video. I'd link it, but then it would probably be flagged as spam by RUclips and not show in the comments here. :)
D Perete Yeah, the leveling process in MMOs rarely changes. It's a Rite of Passage in the hopes of teaching players how to be proficient at their chosen class. Not always fun, but necessary I think. "End game" and dungeons are worth it in a lot of MMO's imo. Tera for example has some great dungeon designs and I'm enjoying it a lot right now with some skilled players. Black Desert has a lot of hoops you have to jump through just to play it in Korea, but it's fun and having access to it now mean I can give people good information sooner to help them understand the game :)
D Perete Yes, I'm going to start working on a 3rd "season" of DAI builds. It will be some time though before that. I'm working on some very special projects...and I'm not supposed to say this yet but.... I am going to enter into the Dragon Age Fan Contest this February :) As for poison stacking, I will see if I can test this out but I'm not sure if it's really worth it. There are so many other good options for damage that trying to make a dot build could be more hassle than it's worth.
The thumbnail of the snowy coliseums made me think of the first time I explored the area. I reach the top, HOLY CRAP A DRAGON! I head to the next one, get to the top, HOLY CRAP ANOTHER DRAGON! I reach the third one, there's no way to climb it, no way there could be another dragon, I'll just check the bottom, HOLY CRAP A THIRD DRAGON!
? ? ? Didnt take Varric once after the prologue/Hinterlands starting quests... (just wanted to meet the new characters - I dont dislike Varric) Never ran away... Nightmare posses no real problem... What made it hard for you?
Alright, I can already see insults aimed at Jon on the comments. Look here people. Some gamers are fat. GET OVER IT. Jon looks great, in my opinion but that's just me (heck, I think he's cute). There's nothing wrong with people being fat -- there are plenty of fat persons out there who can be just as healthy as the skinny bunch as long as they keep being active, what's wrong is insulting them every time they're trying to show a positive side of themselves. Get over it. It's the same as mocking fat people who are jogging, they're trying to get better instead your comments will bring them down. I'm sure Jon doesn't care or doesn't read these comments, but this doesn't excuse the horrible comments he could get just because he's chubby.
***** Bullying someone for their size isn't ANY better -- not saying you are, just making a point. Would you like being harrassed for having skin on your bones or to put muscles on your body? If you were a woman, how would you feel if people told you you need a boob job to look pretty? This is the same for everyone. People will always find things to complain about when it comes to other people's appearances. Unhealthy or not, it's just mean to tell those people to change their life style instead of focusing on the conversations they're trying to have with people.
***** Also, it's easy to dismiss the fact there are obese people who are still active and keeping their health in check. There are skinny people out there who can't even have a good health as well. We're all from different backgrounds, families and all have different genes. Just looking at him, we could judge the man for his appearance sure but what about the diseases that could've led him to the issue? Some people like being fat, some are just fat because they got glandular problems and there are the lazy bunch. I got some terrible glandular problem here and I've been taking pills to help my issue. There are plenty of reasons why people out there are of different shapes. This is why I believe it's okay to be different, as long as we find ways to stay healthy. You may disagree and disapprove with what I'm saying, but I believe it's possible to be fat and healthy at the same time.
Love playing as a Dalish rogue duelist as well as a Dalish greatsword wielder! Definitely always travel with Cassandra, Varric, Dorian, or even Iron Bull...the banters are hilarious and they really add an edge to the party! 🐲
Same here, but it's probably gonna be awhile before that. Nor can I blame them. A lot of patching and perfecting to do, as well as some down time. Rest assured, it will come. If nothing else there's bound to be one this year.
yeah... I beat nightmare mode without even unlocking the codex entry for "revive". Not a single fainted party member during the entire game... Its fun and all that... but not really hard :)
I play as a Mage and having 2 warriors and a rogue Its a very good party setup. I go with Cassandra,Blackwall or Iron Bull and Sera sometimes with Cole. Warriors are great since they can tank damage and having 2 range members can pick easy damage whilst the warriors distract them. Having barriers for me is a great help in prolonging your parties capabilites and avoiding needless damage. As a Mage being able too revive your party in the heat of battle is a great asset one should always keep a mage in there party if not one themselves. As a Mage you'll want too use energy barrage and chain lightning there very good spells and can become very powerful. Regeneration potions though you need elfroot for them there a good help for recovering in areas when you can't retreat.
1. Roll a mage and/or get Vivienne as soon as possible. 2. Progress the main story ignoring everything else till you unlock specialisations. 3. Get a knight enchanter specialisation and max out KE tree as soon as possible. 4. ROLFSTOMP through everything in game on nightmare. 5. You won't even need the profit.
This would probably have been more helpful when the game out... Admittedly I came here hoping for just a slight teaser about Downloadable Content than I was advice on getting started (which I have to say I don't think was entirely worthy of an interview)
If he is your only tank give him the defensive bonuses (those do not require a shield, unlike active abilities) until he can grab late-game armor and guard-on-hit. He was my only tank in dragon fights and was not using potions at all.
***** Even when I bring him along as a dps he stands right next to my tank and takes every hit. He has no emphasis on flanking like dual dagger rogues and I am not going to the trouble of manually placing him where I need him for every fight.
That's probably because you let him taunt enemies from your main tank. Nah, warriors don't flank unless positioned and will return anyway, but that's a minor concern, they don't need to because they are good enough to evade, specially if you teach them combat roll. Remove any taunt from the tactics and set him to follow the main tank, or himself if he is the tank.
***** Believe me he does not have a taunt ability but he just stands in front of the attacker and he gets hit. For instance when fighting a bear Cassandra gets aggro/challenge and I let her run ahead and he gets right next to her brushing shoulders and even bumps her out of the way sometimes and every attack the bear does Cass blocks and Bull eats. he sucks I hate to say it but he does. which is a shame because he is such a cool character that aligns with my character quite well.
Dwarf female ftw! I can't deal with not having Varric in my party. wtb more Varric story stuff. Do we ever learn where his crossbow came from? Do we ever find out why we can't romance him?
***** Get a fade-touched silverite and master-craft it into an armour. You get infinite guard on top of your infinite barrier. Also get fire mine and every passive in the inferno tree. Melt everything right in their faces every 6 seconds while tanking. This game really is too easy once you get the specialisations... Sadly it's a recurring theme in this franchise. Roll a mage -> get a specialisation -> solo the game without effort :/ Although in DA:O you could also solo with a dual-wield rogue.
***** Rogue does a better single target damage, while KE is the best DPS class if it comes to AOE and crowd control. The only difference in gameplay is that with a rogue you flank more. The thing is, in DA for every party setup there's always one tactics that works EVERY SINGLE TIME. Only dragons are a little bit different, but there are like 4 of those. It gets very repetitive. If you don't force yourself to mix things up just for the sake of it, once you get all 8 abilities you could beat the game not changing tactics ONCE. The grind is mind-numbingly dull. I cannot play DA:I for longer than an hour before I get bored of combat. In previous Biowere games (excluding DA2) at least the story was interesting enough to get me hooked. In DA;I there's so much pointless crap you're doing, I'm not even halfway through the main story. And I've been playing it since week one. RIP BioWare. I really miss you :(
Look... Love the game etc etc etc... this is not one of the many "mimimi I hate the game bla bla bla" comments you see in the forums and youtube. However I have to say that I disagree with the so called "awesomeness" of magic in DAI as it is portrayed here in this clip. Magic in DAI is ... well... boring. The mage was gutted so completely that every mage is now a primal mage. No more creation, no more entropy, no more spirit (yeah ... there "is" a spirit spell tree... but its laughable compared to DAO and even DA2) Then of course the 8 skill limit in the bar on PC... thanks consoles! Why would a PC player want to use the full capacity of the system hes playing on after all? oO So any skills that only have a limited use in certain situations never actually make it on my skill bar... so effectively... I might as well not skill them at all. Ice Wall, Fire Wall, Dispel, Mindblast, and the second focus ability... used it once to see what it looks like... never again because of the tiny skill bar. No more spell combinations either. Again I let out a troubled: "Huh? oO" WHY? You already created all these things ... why get rid of them now? Also the heal vs. barrier debate. I dont mind the new system ... but the argument Bioware made for the change is silly. (We didnt want mages to have to skill heal etc) It used to be: Damage --> Heal --> Damage --> Heal Now its Prevent Damage --> Damage --> Prevent Damage --> Damage All you did was switch the order around. And now all mages skill barrier... so what changed? :D Oh and last but not least... Purple glowing, non-following, non-controllable spirit shadow things... ARE NOT NECROMANCY :D Replay DAO please and look at your original version of necromancy... THAT was necromancy. Conclusion: I really like DAI... and you really reduced my favorite class to nothing but an elemental damage dealer... Shame really...

TZATRIX Try playing with Friendly Fire on, I find it makes strategic positioning much more important. Makes the random battle on the open world take forever however.
Manart yeah exactly... thats what TZATRIX kinda said.... friendly fire was ALWAYS on in DAO nightmare :D New age of casual gaming here we go! :D Nightmare was a breeze. No party member fainted even once. Easy peasy ;) (Still fun though... just not hard)
First rule of party combinations: always bring Cole. Always. Especially for his banter with others.
My #1 tip - Set your ranged fighters behavior to "Follow" themselves. Tank also follows him/herself and melee to follow the tank. There are other viable ways, but this has given me the best results. Have fun! ;)
Never thought about that, i'll give it a try :)

My guide to Dragon Age Inquisition:
Step 1: Always have Varric in the party
Step 2: When in doubt run away like a coward
Step 3: Profit
? ? ?
Didnt take Varric once after the prologue/Hinterlands starting quests... (just wanted to meet the new characters - I dont dislike Varric)
Never ran away...
Nightmare posses no real problem...
What made it hard for you?
Daelyas
And a good day to you too Ser Troll
MessagerOfHell I honestly wasnt. It was a friendly honest question if you found the game to be hard. But hey... whatever ;)

Strategies straight from the team at BioWare Edmonton!
Am I the only one that is always changing the party members? I just like them all :D
You are not :D I also don't make any strategies i just use every spell at random.
darthportus you need to put it in nightmare and toggle friendly fire, then you'll need to do strategy :P
Love playing as a Dalish rogue duelist as well as a Dalish greatsword wielder! Definitely always travel with Cassandra, Varric, Dorian, or even Iron Bull...the banters are hilarious and they really add an edge to the party! 🐲

TheRhythym Well they usally come out in summer or at the begining of autumn. It will be soon.
But I got a Platinum trophy for this game like... weeks ago...
Its kinda weird how its February but they appear (in their patches and videos and articles etc) to act like its still December...

They say all of these things in-game.
DLC DLC DLC DLC CHANT CHANT CHANT DLC DLC DLC DLC
Unlike Pillars of Eternity, they have no Chanter class. lol
Still watching even though I've beat it on nightmare haha.
Are you going to release dlc's for DAI.
This would probably have been more helpful when the game out... Admittedly I came here hoping for just a slight teaser about Downloadable Content than I was advice on getting started (which I have to say I don't think was entirely worthy of an interview)
I like Iron Bull in the story, but the only things he seems to do in combat is drink potions and die....

Still waiting for PS3 patches before playing, it has been long wait..
BIOWARE! What about DLC? :3
Patience. Game hasn't been out that long. Give them some time too cook up a nice big DLC that will be worth it.
Dwarf female ftw! I can't deal with not having Varric in my party. wtb more Varric story stuff. Do we ever learn where his crossbow came from? Do we ever find out why we can't romance him?
yes and yes
So when does story DLC come out :D???

Hi
Hi there!
G'day!
Currently doing a co-op Let's play on my channel! check it out!
FFS, the game is easy even on Hard. It´s not hardcore as DAO, so any guide is useless. It's just a plea for attention...
play legendary and shut up
