When my daughter saw me beardless for the first time (she was 5) she burst into tears! Then she said ‘It’s okay Daddy, you can shave it back on again!’
I can remember going in a store with my dad, he was around 37 at the time, had big beard. The woman politely said, such a cute young man out for the day with his grandpa, oh it warms my heart. He laughed an told her i was his son, he wasn't old enough for that yet. He went straight home and shaved.
OMG I completely understand the young girls’ reaction!! He looks so different- My dad always had a beard and one day shaved it.. it was freaky- he looked younger and like a completely different person- just hair! Wow. Flash back 40 years 😂 wow thank you for that reminder.❤ He’s gone 35 years now and I can still remember the shock and giggles - blessing ❤
In all the videos I've seen of Dad's shaving their beards, it is almost always their daughters who seem to have the strongest reaction! Their sons seem less affected by the change.
The boy you helped is way more important than your beard, the beard can be re-grown while the boy has a permanent hurdle to overcome. Kudos to you for helping him get the new equipment, you are a very good man! from Tucson Arizona USA.
When the daughter put the mom on the spot and asked her “do you still like him” not do you like “it” I died inside for her because you can tell that the wife prefers the beard. Kids are ruthless.
@@annemariemcnamara8756: Ruthless ruthless ruthless🤷♀️😁. It’s the word I chose, understanding context is key and folks that understand the context of my overall statement get it. I don't think you can infer that the wife prefers the beard. Seems to me equally likely that she's reacting to the change, and needs time to get use to that change before she can even know which she prefers. Her discomfort may have been not about her disliking it or liking it less than the beard, but about her feeling discomfited about not being able to give the new face a ringing endorsement right off the bat, thinking she should be able to do that to be supportive and to avoid making her husband feelilng bad.
Its always a shock ! But he looks nice. My husband had a beard it was a shock when he removed it when my daughter was quite young. It was like going to bed with a strange man🤣. It scared our one nephew!
I personally prefer kissing without the beard but to each her own. And yes, I’ve adjusted to him having one but miss the old days of no beard and more hair!
My mom had a friend from her church who did a similar thing. His kids had never seen him without his beard and his wife had barely seen him without it (she saw him at a party six months before they started dating; he grew a beard in between). He looked drastically different without the beard. One weekend, the wife and kids went away and the husband shaved off his beard. When the wife and kids came home, he walked down the front path from the house to greet them. The wife went into shock and the kids started screaming. He started growing back the beard not long after that.
This dude doing the cut is effing hilarious. I've never seen this channel before, but I'm hooked watching this. I'm cracking up and so engrossed in this hilarity. 😂😂
I'm sure his wife will encourage him to do so. Some women prefer facial hair on their dudes. Personally I think he looked better with it. Just needed to get it shaped.
I have did this a few times ........ I usually just do it when the mood strikes me ...... I shaved my nephews head , as his dad wanted me too ..... he was not a happy camper .... so I told him he could shave off my beard ...... because we have distance between us , 5 years later he finally shaved it 4 months ago ....... I think I showed him , I am a man of my word ...... which is important to me that he knows that ..... I also donated too .... Cheers to this man and the barber shop for thinking of others .....
We had a coworker that had long hair and a full beard . One day at work there was this new guy that was clean shaved , and nice haircut . We didn’t realize it was him at first , took us all a good 15 min till we realized it was him . He got cleaned up for a wedding he was standing up in !!!
Love the kids' reactions!!!! I got the exact same immediate feedback when I cut mine. My wife and 6yr old daughter hated it, and my 2 yr. old son acted like I was the "stranger danger" guy in the house :). Congrats Mate. Awesome challenge
I am 68 years old and I started growing my beard in 1977. I cut it off in 1999 and my kids reaction was very similar. Kept it shaved for 6 months and have a bead ever since. Fun video.
I’ve worn a full beard for over 50 years, in that time I’ve has 1 shave, one Christmas Day I got up early and shaved as a Christmas surprise, my kids were young and when they saw me they cried. My Wife didn’t notice until the kids pointed it out, she had known me clean shaven for a few years before I stopped shaving. The family at Christmas dinner were unanimous that I grow it back.
@anthonyburke5656 Not that you needed their approval, but when your family encourages you to grow your beard back, you've got a support system worth having. I guess a man's beard has a way of growing on other people too (meaning, in the Bible, it sounds like the Lord Himself encourages us men to grow them since He created them in the first place and when we listen to Him, it's amazing how everything else falls into place)!
Most important thing is he did this for a good cause… to help a child who needed help… his beard will grow back… if he wants. I personally would grow it back… starting right at that moment… I don’t ever see me taking my beard off completely again… I’d miss it…🧔🏻🎅🏻🧔🏻
I think he looks way, way better after tha before, even apart from the fact that, like you, I see the most important thing being his values and willingness to do what it took to help a child.
Thanks for your support of a cause. I had an Uncle who looked like ZZ Top. With hair down to shoulders and beard down mid torso. I think his daughter was (7). She had never seen him any other way. He had his hair cut way back and beard removed. They said she just stared at him for hours. Almost did not even recognize him..
I had a friend whose father had a very long beard for most of his adult life.…I would say it was probably about a good 20 inches long. He decided to shave it one day just to see how it felt. When he came into the house my friends baby sister looked at him and started crying and tried to run out the house…Lol.
I had a Goatee for the first 18 months of my first daughter‘s life. She cried and was scared of me when I woke her up from a nap after shaving it off. She trusted my eyes, but didn’t like the lower 1/2 of my face.
Those reactions are definitely normal when it's been years since anyone has seen you look any different. I will buzz mine short every now and then but I hadn't done a full shave in years. I decided to once and I was told I looked stupid and too young lol. I wasn't mad. I couldn't disagree! Even seeing myself I was like yeah no... It will likely be years before I do so again lol
