Battle of Atlanta: Did Atlanta ever consider preserving Battlefields?

Thanks to Georgia Battlefields, a portion of the battle of Utoy Creek was preserved at Beecher Preserve in SW Atlanta. Although, since the city is adverse to anything related to the Civil War, there is no signage.

linkage of battles fields would have nice ! in my youth i lived behind west-view.
now the subject war between the states & memorials are "toxic" ! now in 2019, history is being revisited & reconstructed to suit a political agenda !
