I just realized Miles's "mom" said he did something with his hair, and I loved that subtle hint that he was in the wrong universe. Didn't even realize that until now.
Also it's established Miles's universe doesn't have comic-con (Joke in the first movie: Peter B: "Save it for comic-con" Miles: "What's Comic-con?") and then Miles's not-mom asked if Spiderman was like a character from "comics con"
Oscar Isaac and Hailee Steinfeld especially, Hailee has come such a long way in such a short amount of time as an actor, from Bumblebee, her first proper lead role to now, she's been amazing, I'm rooting for her and Oscar Isaac well his accomplishments speak for themselves already

My favourite subtle moment is when Gwen and Miles are sitting upside down. At the end she leans on his shoulder. It's such a small but powerful moment because normally that action is a relaxing motion and signifies you feel comfortable with someone, but because they're upside down Gwen would have to fight gravity to do it, it's a tensing motion and instead conveys something like, that Miles makes her feel uncomfortable but in a good way, like she's stepping out of her comfort zone and it feels good.
That whole scene, from the moment Gwen walks around the parapet to set on the underside, with her little "thips" to anchor herself there, is amazing! The way her ponytail drops "up" (in her perspective), the subtle moves of Miles' hand as she tells her story - it's a master class in how to craft an unbelievable scene! This movie if absolutely amazing, and I'm so happy I got to see it!
Peter being the Lizard was actually shown in her flashback in the previous movie, but it goes by so quickly that if you haven't read some of Gwen's comic book, it would be hard to understand the scene
They also appeared to have used an adult Peter model. I remembering seeing that scene and thinking it was a little odd that her best friend was so much older than her.
also, 42:44 - "culito" is, because's he's still her little man- "little butt." Where spiders get their webs from. Hence the "I had I nightmare about that once" quip from Miles 😄
I'm glad the first one opened your mind up to animation, it always makes me very sad when someone thinks art isn't worth their time just because it's not live action.
Yeah, but then we get a comment like "I would love to see a live-action Miles but I'll _settle_ for animation for now". The inherent bias against animation is still there. As someone who works in animation, I hear that all the time and it's disheartening to see. Not that I'm I'm not putting this against her, even I fall victim to it too.
@@etherwingthe problem originates from Disney being for kids and maintains itself because not marketing animation to kids would be a huge blow to profits. The west just sees it as “kids stories” when it’s just a different medium of storytelling. The reason anime is so popular is because Japan has arguably valued the medium of animation more than live action, and thus utilizes it to its full potential. Western animation is only now starting to catch up. And while Arcane and Spiderverse are gorgeous, I hope companies also realize 3D isn’t the future of animation, it’s just an alternative. Demon Slayer proves essentially any argument the west needs to learn: - Animation isn’t just for kids - Mature animation can be massively profitable - 2D animation can evolve past 90’s Disney style.
I love the fact that Ganky was playing the ps4/5 Spiderman game and then they included the video game version of Spiderman in the scene when miles gets to the spider society place. They also play a song in this movie that is probably one of my favorite songs now called hummingbird. They play that song in the scene when miles gets yelled at by his parents and Gwen shows up
@@funnylilgalreacts I love that everyone gets that he's left it in there as a collectible, and reacts so viscerally when she casually rips off the packaging. 😂
I've done this on every reaction I've seen, but it's so worth pointing out. For Hobie's animation, they used a completely unconventional style in order to emphasize how against the system he is. So against it that even his animation doesn't follow the structure. Also, in the first movie, Miles's background was black and purple, symbolizing the fact that he was supposed to be the Prowler in his universe, but the colors changed when he was bitten by the spider.
@@mcgfn We don't know. We know he was close to his Uncle. And there are universes where Peter's Spider-Man becomes friends with Jeff Davies, only for Jeff to be killed (The PS4 game as an example). Without a second spider, it's plausible Miles could become the Prowler under those circumstances
Indeed it is. Daniel Pemberton went nuts in this movie. Every soundtrack was just over the top. I hope he at least gets nominated for this, but I doubt it since it's an animated movie.
I know people usually point out Miguel's theme as being the best (and it is awesome, don't get me wrong), but to me Gwen and The Spot have the best themes
The first Spider-Verse movie was the first Marvel role for Kathryn Hahn, Hailee Steinfeld, and Bryan Tyree Henry before they went on to portray live-action characters in the MCU’s Phase Four. This time we had actors who already had live-action Marvel roles before voicing characters in this movie. Karan Soni, the voice of Pavitr, previously portrayed Dopinder in the Deadpool movies. And yes, he’s returning for part 3 which has paused production due to the ongoing actors’ and writers’ strike. Daniel Kaluuya, the voice of Hobie Brown/Spider-Punk, previously portrayed W’Kabi in Black Panther 2018. And of course, Oscar Isaac was Apocalypse and Moon Knight. However, in Oscar’s case, Miguel O’Hara is chronologically his second Marvel role. Into the Spider-Verse had that one post-credit scene with Miguel and Lyla. One of my favorite funny moments was when The Spot kicked himself and fell into a scary portal before he could finish his sentence. Also, you gotta admit that the one spot that makes up his face turning into a little dot was kinda cute. I also liked how cartoony the first fight was. Between spinning in the car wash to the Foam Party becoming an actual foam party with Miles and Spot “dancing” to the kid taking off his mask, I couldn’t stop laughing the first time around. @24:12 another funny moment is meeting Pavitr. I love his energy and humor. The Lego sequence was put together not by a team of animators but rather by a 14-year-old kid named Preston Mutanga. He has his own RUclips channel called LegoMe_TheOG. Sony heard about his work and reached out to him with this incredible job offer. Preston is gonna go far. Lenny was voiced by Ziggy Marley, one of Bob Marley’s children. When Hobie says he hates the a.m. and the P.M, he’s respectively talking about the morning and the Prime Minister. The head-writers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller invited Karan to the writers’ room to pitch in ideas for Pavitr. They were aiming for his character to be culturally specific. In the comics, Pavitr wasn’t bitten by a radioactive spider. Rather a yogi granted him spider powers through magic. However, there’s no confirmation that it works the same way in this film. Pavitr fights using an Indian martial art called Kalaripayattu. A small animation team from Kerala, India was tasked to help animate Pavitri's movements. His Spidey mask has design inspirations from Theyyam, a Hindu ritual from Kerala. Malala Windsor, the British Spider-Woman with the hijab, is an original character created for this movie. This direct incarnation of Spider-UK was never introduced in the comics, but after this she might eventually get her own run. For me, Childish Gambino’s cameo was the biggest surprise in the entire movie. There’s no confirmation whether live-action Aaron Davis/Prowler is the same one from Spider-Man: Homecoming. For all we know, this might be a What If situation. In other words, he’s from an entirely separate dimension/timeline. Speaking of which, the canon events are absolute points like what we saw with Strange Supreme in What If season 1. The way I understand it, the Spider Society is pretty much a Spidey-themed TVA. A major difference is that they don’t prune dimensions. Rather, they try to save them from collapsing. @34:13 Metro Boomin’ make it boom. That’s record producer Metro Boomin’ making a cameo. He curated the soundtrack for this film. The deluxe edition has six bonus tracks aside from the main thirteen. That reminds me: Hummingbird, the song heard in the background when Miles is grounded, was co-written, co-produced, and performed by James Blake. He happens to be married to Jameela Jamil, the actress who portrayed She-Hulk’s rival Titania. Peter is a great mentor but also an irresponsible father for bringing Mayday to a steel mill with all kinds of equipment that can easily harm her. Miguel has the best of intentions with preventing the multiverse from collapsing, but I didn’t like that he called Miles a mistake and blamed him for everything that happened. Miles never asked to get bitten by a radioactive spider, but he’s doing his best and making the most of the situation. @36:58 Gwen had been lying to Miles throughout the whole film. Granted most of them were menial, but her knowing that he wasn’t supposed to be Spider-Man was the final straw. He said goodbye to her like she did to him. And finally, it’s weird but also cool that Earth-42’s version of J. Jonah Jameson and The Daily Bugle would actually support a Spider-Man rather than call him a menace all the time. Going into this, I knew we were gonna be left on a cliffhanger. This movie was originally a two-parter. They ended up renaming the third movie Beyond the Spider-Verse, but the concept remains the same.
Such an amazing movie , literally art . So many subtle things … like Gwen’s world being dark , then giving her Dad a hug, and everything is bright colors again in that moment Just phenomenal
If you look back her world was always bright and with those pink colors whenever she was spider woman, even during some tough parts. And then it'd be darker while she was Gwen, or not as bright, slowly losing color. Because she felt like she was lying as "Gwen", and didn't like that side of her life because of the lie/disconnect with her dad. That was the first time in her world where it brightened up as Gwen, for the first time she's happy everywhere instead of just half her world : )
Some comic book lore. Migeul actually injects himself with mutated spider DNA. Hence why he has fangs and eye colour changes. Also if you look at his fingers you'll see claws. The grow out of his fungers, not claws like funger nails. Actually downward curved shaped claws. That is how he crawls on vertical surfaces. So yes looks lkke a vampire but its actually jyst the spider DNA acting up when gets into a rage.
This sequel was even more crazy, emotional, and epic than its predecessor was. I loved that this movie further developed the relationship between Miles and Gwen. While it pains me that we have to wait longer to see how "Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse" will end this trilogy, I'm sure it'll be worth it.
I agree. When a cliff-hanger is a gimmick, I feel cheated. But ATS had me emotionally engaged the entire movie. When it ended, I was just so grateful to have been at an emotional high for over 2 hours straight. I rarely watch anything where I care about every action scene, every character, every plot.
I really like this iteration of Miguel O’hara in the comics he’s similar to Tony Stark he has good intentions but to him the ends justify means. He shows that by willing to preserve the multiverse status quo of spider-men by allowing certain people to die. Having his authority challenged by Miles someone he thinks does not deserve to be Spider-Man shows how much of a dictator he acts to his ‘team’. This movie truly was a love letter to Spider-Man fans of all generations.
What I loved about this movie is how well they did with tying it into the first movie, with explaining why there were two Spider-men in the one universe.
It seems to tie up with Peter B, because the universe where Miguel replaced himself and ended up destroying seemed to be Peter's (he even says "Isn't that right, Peter?"). It would explain why Peter B would be willing to stab Miles in the back, but it doesn't explain how he seems to have a good, stable life with MJ and their baby.
Except PS4 proves two can exist together, and this movie confirms that’s part of its canon. And if they don’t bring PS Miles into Beyond I’ll be shocked.
Honestly not sure if I even have enough open storage in my brain to be able to recall all of the positives from this movie. Top to bottom, just an extraordinary movie.
This movie gets better and better with every rewatch and reaction video. Hobie becomes more and more my favorite. On rewatching you'll see him stealing what looks like random tech all the time. He'd been planning on making his own the whole time. You're the only reactor I've seen that picked up on the whole ending twist right away! Well done!
Hobie is that guy other guys get jealous of because he’s so cool it aggravates any overt or latent self-doubt but then you realize he really is just a cool guy with no ill will, and you can’t help but appreciate him for … being so effing cool.
Fun fact: the lego part of the movie was animated by this kid who makes lego fan movies! The directors saw his lego stop motion fan films and had him make a little part of the movie!
I made that EXACT face in the theatre at the "to be continued" 😅 I was so absorbed in the movie I wasn't watching the clock. Honestly, that's the mark of a great movie and a great theatre experience; every moment had me captivated.
The Donald Glover scene was a crazy full circle moment. Bendis designed Miles after Donald Glover after seeing Glover dressed up as Spidey on the show Community. Glover had been sneaking in Spider-man references as part of his campaign to play Spider-man, something that started as a gag in his stand-up. Glover would later get to voice Miles in the cartoons and of course, played the MCU's Uncle Aaron in Homecoming who would later become the Prowler as you saw here. PS - Please watch Community ❤
Very few movies make feel like a child, being mesmerized with joy, colors, sound, when we’re young enough to still believe in magic. This was such a movie
That opening with Gwen was one of the best opening scenes to a movie I can remember. Between Gwen and Vi, Miss Steinfeld is making a SERIOUS name for herself as a voice actress right now...
This movie breaks my heart in so many ways, and I was NOT prepared for the cliffhanger at the end. I'm glad they did, though, because I would hate for them to rush it. Schnee did an amazing video on Hobie Brown, which is basically talking about how he's a deep character who tricks us into thinking that he's shallow at first. Kind of a "better a witty fool than a foolish wit"... and Miguel is definitely a foolish wit. Still, I love Miles' journey of self-actualization across these movies... and it resonates very strongly with me. I love this movie... heck, I love both of these movies, and I am excited for next year, which is when Beyond the Spider-Verse is slated to come out (we'll see how the writer's strike does with that).
At 12:58 here when Spot is talking about bringing spider-42 from that world over, you can see a shot of Earth-42 miles from the back with his braids. NEVER noticed as many times as I've seen this, this is the first time I noticed because it goes by so quickly.
Ramble time!: The spider-person in the wheelchair is Sun-Spider, and she has Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, which my wife also has (hEDS specifically)! It affects the connective tissues in the body, and it can range from relatively mild where your joints 'slip out' when lifting things, or it can be so bad that you literally can't walk without help because the act of standing and moving under your own weight will dislocate your hips/knees/ankles, so wheelchairs and walking aids are necessary for a lot of hEDS-havers (but not all). My wife's not actually supposed to lift anything heavier than ten pounds, but we have a pretty chonky cat, so you can guess how well that works. (Side rant: She also gets told all the time, "You're too young to be disabled, you're just being lazy," or "You don't LOOK disabled," when she tries to explain that she can't do something that involves a lot of physical activity or lifting.) Getting to see that Sun-Spider made it into the movie, even if only for a few seconds... honestly, super emotional about it still. The CARE that put into her wheelchair and crutches on the character design sheets (they were posted on Twitter by the artist)... every character was redesigned and added into this movie with so much respect and love, it's never going to stop blowing me away. This is a love letter to all things Spider-Man and you can tell.
I had no idea there was going to be a third. When it got to the end I was so annoyed! In a good way, but damn I want them to hurry up. And I still want a live action Spider-Gwen set of movies. Edit: just saw the reaction. Yep. Right there with ya. Augh!
I saw a lovely explanation for Gwen not being able to sense invisible Miles with Spider Sense- Gwen trusts him so deeply that she subconsciously doesn't consider his presence a reason to sound the alarm. Also, I had the same reaction at the end of the movie when I saw the TO BE CONTINUED..., opening afternoon. I immediately texted one of my closest friends, an ultra-Spidey nerd, that I needed to warn him about something before his showtime, only if he was interested. He told me that he already knew it was going to be a cliffhanger, if that's what I was talking about 🤣Didn't make it any easier!
Yeah I’m shocked how many people didn’t realize it was a two parter. I think knowing it would be “to be continued” going into the theater experience definitely made it better.
I think a huge difference in Miles story is that all other Spider-Man never knew the canon events that make them who they are. But Miles changes everything because he now knows he has a chance to change it. In doing so he warps everyone elses path. I can't wait for the next part.
56:23 Pavitr Prabhakar's world might still be falling apart. Miguel said if they were lucky they'd be able to stop it but they never addressed it again. Also Miguel said it was because the canon was broken.
I love the parallels between Peter and Miles in this movie so much😍 Both are people with an incredible amount of potential, and when they get bitten, it's like they found their calling and become these great heroes, but when the spider doesn't bite them, it's like they grow bitter against the unfairness of this world and their role as an unimportant side character, so they force fate by making the lizard elixir or becoming the prowler which makes them become villains in someone else's story. Peter in Gwen's story is just like Harry in The Spectacular Spider-Man, and Miles' Prowler reminds me of the Prowler in The Ultimate Spider-Man, because he only became a villain to care for or save his brother (don't remember), and ProwlerMiles probably only became a villain to help his mom, since she can't pay all the bills😭 I love how this acknowledges that anyone can become a hero or a villain. It's not only your character that defines who you are, but also the circumstances and the ability to grow out of these circumstances.
I’m not sure if anyone has noticed Miles Morales moms eye color from earth 1610 is brown and his mom from earth 42 has green eyes. I didn’t even notice it until I read up on it so that way you can tell miles is in the wrong earth towards the ends of the movie.
Did you know... Donald Glover is the reason Miles Morales was created? After Toby's Spider-Man, when they were going to reboot, there was an online grassroots campaign to make Donald Glover Spider-Man. He even screen tested for the role. In the end, it went to Andrew Garfield. But, the online support for Donald was soo huge, that they created Miles in the "Ultimate Universe," that Marvel had at the time -- to make fans happy. In the story, it was similar to Into the SpiderVerse, where they kill off the Peter Parker in that Universe and have Miles take over, but we still got Peter in the main Marvel Universe. Later, when they animated Spider-Man (can't remeber the name of the animated show) Donald Glover plays the voice of Miles, when he crosses paths with the main Marvel Peter Spider-Man. I'm glad that they are keeping Donald's involvement going.
Miles is the Chosen One! He's the Neo and Luke Skywalker of the Spider Verse!!!!!!!! MILES and his future wife Gwen. An Homie his Soul Brother for Life. WHERE UNSTOPPABLE! Best Spider Man movie Ever! Can't wait for part 3!!!!!!!
Some assorted fun facts! -Miguel never got bitten by a spider, he got spliced with spider DNA instead. That's where he got his claws and fangs from, as well as having paralytic venom. He also doesn't have a spider-sense -the whole lego sequence was made by a 14 year old fan who recreated all of the trailers in lego animation -sun-spider, the disabled spider woman, has Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a genetic disease that affects her joints and mobility. She was originally a fan-character created after the first spiderverse movie. She ended up getting included in the comics, and later in this movie!
4 years it took to animate that chase sequence through Spider Society. Well, at least they can pat themselves on the back. We enjoyed the hell out of all that work.
I was glad that they made Jessica Drew pregnant. It was so unexpected when comics!Jess showed up on the cover of her book in 2015 six months pregnant but still in costume, but it was a fun story and being a mom has become an important part of her evolution as a character. In the comics she's been a mentor to Gwen and I'm hoping we get to see more of that in the next movie.
The general theme of the movie is actually a metanarrative of the character Miles Morales's initial audience reception. You know how the some sections of the internet and general toxic human behavior goes. For one reason or another iykyk, a significant enough number of spider-man fans gave Miles Morales such pushback/hate on his comic series. Sentiments such as "He's not my spider-man" is very much a thing. So the entire story thread/theme that Miles's mom lays down when she said, "Never let anyone tell him, that he doesn't belong there," and Miles' line towards Miguel in the train scene, "Everyone keeps telling me how my story is supposed to go. Nah, Imma do my own thing," they're much so more poetic knowing how actual irl people received his initial comic book runs. This movie is a masterpiece. Period. Hoping they deliver on third movie as well.
I did not see the cliffhanger coming. This'll be one of those part 2's that makes you wanna put on part 3 immediately after. Like Back to the Future 2.
Gwen was a little jealous of Spider-Byte and Miles flirting by how she snatched him away from her.. Gwen Spidey-Sense is so strong for Miles that she could sense him in danger in another Dimeson. Miles Dad in universe 42 most have died earlier in his life cause his accent is heavier from spending more time around his mom.
If you didn't know there was one point where Donald Glover was going to play either a live action version or cartoon version of Miles Morales. But this was awhile ago when he was younger.
I loved this movie and took my wife to the theaters cause we loved the first one and we were both shocked at how as you would say remarkably beautiful it was!
The character who said he's not Miles' guy in the chair is Ned. The MCU changed him to be Peter's friend but he's Miles' in the comics. I didn't really fully follow the hype after Into The Spiderverse. However I absolutely love Across The Spiderverse.
fun fact(?):the T-rex spider was completely overshadowed bc he was announced at the same time as Web Weaver a gay spider man and homophobes made such a big deal that it was hard to even know that he was there (along with other spider variants).
I absolutely love that there's a Spider-Cat!😸 I immediately decided after seeing this that I'm going to get a Spider-Cat costume for one of my cats for Halloween!
Loved this film. Also love the little bit of trivia about Gwen's theme tune, if you hum the notes slowly, it's the same as the classic Spiderman theme. They just pitched it up and sped it up. SO good.
Not sure if she realized but Donald Glovers cameo if a reference to his cameo in Homecoming where he mentions that he "has a nephew in these neighborhoods" whoch is a reference to Myles Morales
Peter B. Parker's wife is Mary Jane Watson-Parker; he's basically 616 Peter as he _should_ have been, if Quesada and Straczynski hadn't perpetrated the _One More Day_ travesty.
“Is he even a Spider-Man?” That debate has been going on since 1992 lol. I argue that he is not. He wasn’t bitten. He actively sought out Spider-Man powers. To me, this is the opposite of what makes someone Spider-Man
For anyone wondering why Miguel is so opposed to anomalies it’s because his doomed universe is filled with anomalies. One of which kills him before 2099 hits 2100
He did not seek out Spider-Man powers. Granted, he was working on a project to recreate Spider-Man's powers for Alchemax's corporate raider program, but he didn't try to give any powers to himself. His powers were the result of him trying to cure himself of the Rapture his boss had laced his drink with to keep him dependent on the company after he tried to quit, and his coworker Aaron Delgado mixing in spider DNA during the procedure in an attempt to kill him. Luckily for Miguel, he didn't die and instead gained a variation of Spider-Man powers.
@@mranima748 Perfectly valid argument. There’s no wrong answers. I’m just giving my personal opinion on why I wouldn’t categorize him as a Spider-Man. I also greatly disagree with his opinion that a tragic loss is canon to making someone a Spider-Man. I don’t believe someone needs to suffer great loss to become motivated as a force for good. I believe people are equally as motivated by the fear of loss. One doesn’t have to suffer to understand suffering. They just need empathy.
I doubt you will notice this funnylilgal but Mayday Parker is a long running comic series. it kept getting cancelled and readded. She was sort of combined with her brother who got powers at birth and a another alternate child of Spider-Man who became a super younger. Mayday has always been one of my favorite comic spider people.
I love watching your reactions and was beyond excited to see this one. This movie blew the stakes and emotions through the roof since the last one. I was emotional turmoil once “to be continued” flashed at the end. Both sides made legitimate points but in the end, I had to side with Miles. Spider-Man always finds a way and the entire spider society failed to uphold the values they swore to defend since day one. I hope they realize that in the next one. Keep it up girl!!! Love your content

this is the only movie i have ever paid to see twice in theaters and then bought the video when it came out has been an awesome movie series and like everyone else cant wait for the next one.
The thing that really resonated with me in this film, and the reason I liked Hobie's character so much is the way the movie makes a meta-narrative of "canon" representing choice versus destiny in terms of story, and the wider implication of audience expectation versus creative freedom. One of my least favorite tropes in storytelling is giving a character incredible powers to either change their fate or change the timeline at large, and then having the narrative invalidate that character's choices because fate and destiny are deemed more important. It's a way to create drama and subvert some expectations, but stories like that also don't tend to communicate much beyond the idea that again, the character's abilities and choices don't matter in the grand scheme. And the other part of that is audience expectation of what makes a Spider-Man story "canon." And this is very topical for the character of Miles Morales specifically, because there was a lot of racial backlash both to the Marvel Ultimates comic where Miles debuted, and also to the possibility of the character being played by Donald Glover. "There can't be a black Spider-Man, and if you make one then it's not *canon*". Just like it was canon that Gwen Stacy had to die in the comics because the original writers of the comics thought she was boring and that Peter would be more interesting paired with MJ, so Gwen gets the rawest crappy canon in comic's history. Aside from the clear and harmful tropes in the above, sticking rigidly to established canon can be straight up boring, constantly retreading the same ground with the same characters and familiar character beats, without the opportunity to try new things and make new stories. The Spiderverse films are immensely innovative for more reasons than I could possibly list here, but their commitment to take established stories and characters in new directions is something that puts them *leagues* ahead of practically every other MCU and superhero property in my mind.
The Electro they had in a prison was from Spiderman and His Amazing Friends, where Electro beemed our heroes into a video game. He looked like a bad 80s video game.
I hope that, "I think it's a Banksy," guy comes back for Beyond the Spider-verse, like the cabbage guy from Avatar: the Last Airbender. Cuz he was in Into the Spider-verse, when the collider started and it messed up Brooklyn right before, Peter was killed by the Kingpin, if you remember Angela I don't know why, when I wrote Avatar, I heard it in Uncle Iroh's voice(Ah-vi-tar) Bt-dubs and by the way, the voice actor who played Uncle Iroh, died right after he finishes his voice work on the show. So, when you see the tribute for him on the show. It's going to be not only a very profound episode, I'm sure you'll have tears over the episode. Know that, that episode was dedicated to him. That way you'll know ahead of time, and perhaps not catch it, or realize he actually died and question in on the reaction 😭😁
I love how the villains were cheering for Miles as he escaped and booing the Spider-Society as they chased him
Kinda ironic because if you think about it.
He’s just like them
I just realized Miles's "mom" said he did something with his hair, and I loved that subtle hint that he was in the wrong universe. Didn't even realize that until now.
Also, when Gwen is peeking into his room, it’s raining for her but not in Earth 42.
Her eyes are also the wrong color - I forget which is which, but they're green in one universe and brown in the other.
They were literally telling us about miles being the prowler cause the way the colors are make it so he’s wearing a purple hood with the black coat.
Also it's established Miles's universe doesn't have comic-con (Joke in the first movie: Peter B: "Save it for comic-con" Miles: "What's Comic-con?") and then Miles's not-mom asked if Spiderman was like a character from "comics con"

They also appeared to have used an adult Peter model. I remembering seeing that scene and thinking it was a little odd that her best friend was so much older than her.
@@XShrike0 Yeah, I thought that was odd too
also, 42:44 - "culito" is, because's he's still her little man- "little butt." Where spiders get their webs from.
@@etherwingyou summed it up perfectly
I loved No Way Home, but Across wins it for me because I always have bias for animation, especially with animation like THIS.
Demon Slayer proves essentially any argument the west needs to learn:
- Animation isn’t just for kids
- Mature animation can be massively profitable
- 2D animation can evolve past 90’s Disney style.
My family thinks I'm weird cause Im way more likely to watch anything animated over live action. My brain just doesn't care about live action.
I have to admit, I went from "I don't like that Hobie guy" to "Hobie is the best!" within a minute 😅😂
Dude is CLUTCH. I dig his vibe
I love the fact that Ganky was playing the ps4/5 Spiderman game and then they included the video game version of Spiderman in the scene when miles gets to the spider society place. They also play a song in this movie that is probably one of my favorite songs now called hummingbird. They play that song in the scene when miles gets yelled at by his parents and Gwen shows up
That whole Spider-Man chase scene took the animators 4 years to make and it sure was hell a worth it! 🎉
Gwen tears a part of my heart out every time she tears the figure out of the package HAHA
My stomach jumped into my throat
@@funnylilgalreacts I love that everyone gets that he's left it in there as a collectible, and reacts so viscerally when she casually rips off the packaging. 😂
Nobody forget that the voice of Gwen is Hailee Steinfeld. The voice of Vi in Arcane.
His background was green and purple, wasn't it? Cause I think that in the comics, Prowlers suit is green and purple
Except Miles was never supposed to be Prowler on Earth 1610, he only became Prowler because Earth 42 had no Spider-Man and his father wasn't around
I think Gwen's theme is the best musical motif I've heard in years.
True
I really like how it starts with the notes of the spiderman song but with a fast tempo. It's new but also a nod to the history of the character.
So many subtle things … like Gwen’s world being dark , then giving her Dad a hug, and everything is bright colors again in that moment
Just phenomenal
Evil Miles having a spanish accent because his mom raised him...
@@Davemented 🤯
If you look back her world was always bright and with those pink colors whenever she was spider woman, even during some tough parts. And then it'd be darker while she was Gwen, or not as bright, slowly losing color. Because she felt like she was lying as "Gwen", and didn't like that side of her life because of the lie/disconnect with her dad. That was the first time in her world where it brightened up as Gwen, for the first time she's happy everywhere instead of just half her world : )
Indeed. These two movies are art, in the very best way.
According to the peoples, Gwen’s is like a “mood ring” Universe which is why the color palette shifts the way it does during emotional scenes.
Hehe. Fungers.
This is actually the first time ive seen someone in tears at miguel’s backstory. I think it’s really sweet that you felt so strongly for him here.
Honestly not sure if I even have enough open storage in my brain to be able to recall all of the positives from this movie. Top to bottom, just an extraordinary movie.
The "I think its a Banksy" guy was in the first one as well, voiced by Post Malone both times.
Post Malone said that line?!
Things can be shown in Animation that could never be done in live action because many things would look to unreal and/or silly.
This was such a movie
this has over the last few months become one of my very favorite channels. I always look forward to your reactions
Wow, thank you!
Miles probably gonna be making a THIRD apology vid for the "chai tea" mess up lol
That opening with Gwen was one of the best opening scenes to a movie I can remember. Between Gwen and Vi, Miss Steinfeld is making a SERIOUS name for herself as a voice actress right now...
Peter HAS to bring Mayday with him everywhere since MJ could not possibly watch after a super powered baby. Great reaction.
Oh good I feel like I needed a good cry today and ur reactions are so heartfelt there's no way this is going all the way dry eyed
I'm in a wheelchair. I played wheelchair sports. And I totally missed the wheelchairs in the beginning. Thank you for pointing that out to me!
(Side rant: She also gets told all the time, "You're too young to be disabled, you're just being lazy," or "You don't LOOK disabled," when she tries to explain that she can't do something that involves a lot of physical activity or lifting.)
Getting to see that Sun-Spider made it into the movie, even if only for a few seconds... honestly, super emotional about it still. The CARE that put into her wheelchair and crutches on the character design sheets (they were posted on Twitter by the artist)... every character was redesigned and added into this movie with so much respect and love, it's never going to stop blowing me away. This is a love letter to all things Spider-Man and you can tell.
These movies are by far the best comic book movies ever IMO and I can't wait to see how the trilogy ends 🤯
I had no idea there was going to be a third. When it got to the end I was so annoyed! In a good way, but damn I want them to hurry up.
And I still want a live action Spider-Gwen set of movies.
Edit: just saw the reaction. Yep. Right there with ya. Augh!
Yes I would love a live-action Spider-Gwen! Heck why not Gwenpool too?? Make it happen, Disney/Sony!
The first trailer said part one but then they dropped the reference for subsequent trailers.
17:51 We ALL felt that moment... it was like a disturbance in the force that hit collectors everywhere like a brick.
To see Donald Glover in the Prowler outfit was my favorite moment!!
Never in a thousand years did I ever think I'd hear this woman say "culito". 🤣
Yeah😄
Hobie out there being the real MVP of this movie and is so underrated lol
Man’s a real one.
Miles's power might be that his influence CAN break cannon.
Gwen’s intro monologue has a much deeper meaning on the rewatch!
This movie is exceptional. And it could never be bettered in a real life movie. This is how it should be. Totally amazing.
Fun fact: Miguels final team, none of them were bitten, they all got their powers another way.
Some assorted fun facts!
-Miguel never got bitten by a spider, he got spliced with spider DNA instead. That's where he got his claws and fangs from, as well as having paralytic venom. He also doesn't have a spider-sense
-the whole lego sequence was made by a 14 year old fan who recreated all of the trailers in lego animation
-sun-spider, the disabled spider woman, has Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a genetic disease that affects her joints and mobility. She was originally a fan-character created after the first spiderverse movie. She ended up getting included in the comics, and later in this movie!
J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson being a universal constant is inspired...
Good on you for watching the credits.
Regarding the ending. I think a lot of people forgot that this was originally announced as Across the Spider-Verse: Part 1 way back in 2020-2021.
4 years it took to animate that chase sequence through Spider Society. Well, at least they can pat themselves on the back. We enjoyed the hell out of all that work.
Peter Parker on Gwens Earth is an example of what Bullies can do to a person.
So glad to see your reaction to this!! Was waiting for it too 😁 such a great movie! Can’t wait for the next one!
32:53 It's Tiny, Running Miguel!
I love how much reactions capture this moment 😂
Yup. Miles aint my Spider Man. The fan hate was fur real fur real
Imma be real, that party looks big enough that it needs two cakes.
I did not see the cliffhanger coming. This'll be one of those part 2's that makes you wanna put on part 3 immediately after. Like Back to the Future 2.
I must say I have never seen an eyes-crossed eye-roll before. Epic! That's a super hero talent right there!
In the first movie.. the animation for Miles' spiderSense that very first time... started out with Prowler color scheme.
Yeah this movie originally had a Part 1 in the title, I can understand the whiplash not knowing that's coming. Movie is so good!
The spider-person who said "there's nowhere to run" was voiced by Metro Boomin, the artist who did the album for the movie--- a talented man!!
When he took off his helmet ‘I’m Miles Morales but You… You can call me the Prowler’ CHILLSSS
The character who said he's not Miles' guy in the chair is Ned. The MCU changed him to be Peter's friend but he's Miles' in the comics.
I didn't really fully follow the hype after Into The Spiderverse. However I absolutely love Across The Spiderverse.
I just realized that they put a ton of holes and dents in that train that was going to the moon...there's no way that's good.
Being part one of two is shocking. GIVE ME MORE!!!
GASP! You did not See this in THEATERS!?>!?!?!?!?
fun fact(?):the T-rex spider was completely overshadowed bc he was announced at the same time as Web Weaver a gay spider man and homophobes made such a big deal that it was hard to even know that he was there (along with other spider variants).
I do like how almost everyone's eyes light up when they hear Peter parker's voice.
There must have been a lot of collectors in my theater, cus when gwen opened that figure……😰😰
Alongside Guardians 3, one of my favourite movies of the year. And like tbose movies, think this is looking to be another perfect trilogy.
You know it's a good reaction when Angela pinballs through at least three emotional states. ;)
Peter B. Parker's wife is Mary Jane Watson-Parker; he's basically 616 Peter as he _should_ have been, if Quesada and Straczynski hadn't perpetrated the _One More Day_ travesty.
You are my favorite reaction channel by far. You deserve so many more subscribers! I hope you have a great day!
“Is he even a Spider-Man?”
That debate has been going on since 1992 lol.
@@vkdragonfire2123 He was trying to create the formula to mimic Peter Parker from the Heroic Age. How is that not actively seeking powers?
He injects the spider venom into his body, one could say he is Spider-Man, just not by natural causes
40:31 - 40:52 God, this scene combined with your own crying got me even more emotional and made this even more emotionally impactful then it already was. And I’ve already seen the movie before in theaters! That’s how you know it’s phenomenal❣️🥹
this is the only movie i have ever paid to see twice in theaters and then bought the video when it came out has been an awesome movie series and like everyone else cant wait for the next one.
Probably an actual perfect movie. It's so wonderful
The use of color in this movie is beautiful. I wept multiple times.
Cuz he was in Into the Spider-verse, when the collider started and it messed up Brooklyn right before, Peter was killed by the Kingpin, if you remember Angela
I don't know why, when I wrote Avatar, I heard it in Uncle Iroh's voice(Ah-vi-tar)
Bt-dubs and by the way, the voice actor who played Uncle Iroh, died right after he finishes his voice work on the show.
