It was not that long ago that I gave a speech to a group of thirty about why we should have more freight trains rather than trucks on the roads. This breaks my heart to see, and even though I never really saw them its still a big stupid waste of money and increases everyone else's drive time.
Its criminal how the Royal Mail have been allowed to do that in the days of looking for greener forms of transportation. Should never have been privatised.
I made my first visit to Tamworth station on the way home from the Battle of Nantwich last year as the Crewe - Derby train was cancelled so LNWR 350 Crewe - Tamworth & XC 170 to Derby. Nearly got caught out as I sat in the first class seats in the 170 as EMR doesn't have first class on theirs; glad I noticed before a ticket check!
The end of the Royal Mail Class 325 is a shame to see them go, but hopefully, we get more 321s operated by varamis Rail, and they expand their fleet and routes! to put mail back on the railways!
Seems very hasty, but I expect that is because they are RM owned. So they don't want anymore else to have them. Even NRM who has examples of all mail coaches through history.
Excellent video, I have recently got back into scene. Remember the 325's royal mail sets coming into service. But what for their future. Are any of them ear marked for departmental stock.
Interesting content and some nice shots despite the gloomy conditions.farewell 325s,so there will be even more bloody lorries on the M6
🤯🤯🤯🙈

Excellent video my friends 😊awesome 😮Greeting 🙋
Good job you were on this side, it looked a srumage on the opposite side. Tamworth is an idea for an adventure. Thank you.

Ooh, could Varamis take the 325s?
@absentmindedjunk 325s are now getting scraped, so no, unfortunately.
Oh, okay. Thank you for the information though

Excellent video as always 👍
What a shame, end of an era.
It's been axed before, perhaps someone will see sense. Thought the idea was less traffic on the roads 🙄
More paths now for higher volume freight I suppose
Great environmental commitment from Royal mail, 😲 are they going to have electric lorries .😬🤣🤣🤣
Nooo, I love these trains, its awful to see them going to scrap :(
Wonder if any of my missing parcels or letters were still in 5Q76 🤦🏻
Nice one! Shame their going, will royal mail use any different trains or are they just stopping using rail transport altogether?
Unfortunately not - Mostly transferring to road now.
Shame they're going ... 😉

Most likely all heading for scrap as far as I’ve heard
@andrewreynolds4949 thanks Andrew
Does anyone know why the middle coach was removed? Happens to be the one with the pantograph...
Unfit to be dragged owing to mechanical/wheelset issues, so they were taken by road to EMR Glasgow and scrapped there
How do you know where the trains are coming and going to is there a web site
Have a look at RealTimeTrains and also RailCam as a starter - They have resources you can use. There are other sites also 👍
When was this filmed?
This was earlier today 👍
@@trainsplanes ok thanks
RIP
Anyone know why the class 90s always seem to run in pairs? I'd have thought they had plenty of grunt on their own ?
Less starting tractive effort maybe?
Where is the fourth car from these two units?
Was thinking the same thing
Left in Glasgow - Deemed not in suitable condition to be moved by rail.
Me too!
Why dont the 325s have their motor carriages here?
Wheel sets were in poor condition so I believe they’ve been sent to be scrapped locally in Glasgow.
Yes, 325s has reduced to 3-car by removed pantograph/motor. You did first saw that before I was about requested about motor coach missed.
Why they called the grim reaper?
They regularly haul redundant rolling stock and locos to be scrapped. 👍
What a waste, they aren’t even 30 yet and they could’ve been converted for passenger use
