My first spurs game was in 1993 we played the suns in game 3 it was so loud in there I'll never forget it. It was in the heart of downtown I miss that location
It stood for 27 years, now it's already been gone 27 years. I still can't believe they tore it down. Joe Anthony passed in '92, then we loose Hemisphere in "95, then we slowly loose out title as Heavy Metal Capitol of the World. Don't know what ya got until it's gone. Elvis and Hendrix had played there and every band in-between. Van Halen was the last band to play there. I just couldn't go to that one. I would have been the only one balling their eyes out during "Jump". Now Eddies gone. Change is the pin hole in life's condom.
Eh, It technically wasn't build to last that long. At least we got the Alamo Dome and the first expansion to the Henry . Gonzalez Center. Then again, I'm probably too young to remember it.
What was San Antonio huge mistake to take down this great arena it so great for lot of things with the HemisFair this was stupid and terrible to take down a building that entertained thousands of folks from San Antonio and all parts of Texas. Protesters should have tried to stop this destruction it was a beautiful land mark of the HemisFair it was so stupid of San Antonio to do away with this beautiful building! Makes me real sad this arena was one of San Antonio HemisFair building that kept memories the great fair!
So sad. Saw Harlem Globtortters, Spurs with the Ice Man George Gervin Hall of Famer. Saw 1st concert there in '79 or '80- Parliament on their Gloryhallastoopid tour. Smelt marijuana burning 1st time @ that show. Any 1 know what's in it's place?
Lots of memories.......but as they say.....out with the old and in with the new. Seating was kind of shitty, nosebleeds were straight up high like an ariel view of the court, and lots of blocked seats by the pillars.
VAN HALEN BALANCE TOUR .. Last rock concert at the HEMISFAIR ARENA and my first ever .. AWESOME SHOW !!
This is where Elvis played, A big part of History. They were stupid to tear this building down.

My first concert there was in 1978 when Van Halen opened for Black Sabbath. Tickets were $7.50 and a 4 finger bag was 10 bucks.
great arena, probably one of the great non-college campus sports arenas never to add an ice hockey rink. RIP HemisFair Arena

Selena Quintanilla performed here for the 1989 Tejano Music Awards.
Saw grand funk railroad in 1974 great concert at the arena

I wasn't around yet to see this Arena but man I'd be broken if we got rid of the Freeman o the ATT Center
There was no need to tear it down. All politics. A very stupid thing to do.
