This World Cup had some of the best jerseys in history, especially Peru. There is a great, raw atmosphere on a cold winter night at the River Plate stadium. Mario Kempes was a fantastic player, like a cross between Batistuta and Messi.
World Cup 1990 also had some of the greatest jerseys, especially Germany's jersey was amazing.

The best, and for us europeans, most surprising thing was that the River stadium was so crowded and hundreds of thousands little sheets of paper were thrown into the pitch nearly entirely covering it.

The pressure was on Argentina - they wanted to play the rest of their games at River Plate's stadium for the rest of the competition (not that it mattered in the end). Losing this game meant it was Italy that did that with Argentina having to play elsewhere.

@@Puma9621-d2c I don’t know about that - it may be the case the way that tournament was, that Videla was always going to appear in the changing rooms and Argentina were always going to get to the final. Whatever group they were in.

Non era affatto un catenaccio! Questa italia giocava un gran calcio...molto spettacolare! Ovviamente in certe partite devi anche saper difenderti e all occorrenza restare chiuso. Ma quest'italia era più spettacolare di quella del 82!

Argentina llevó el peso del partido pero sus remates al arco fueron todos,defectuosos. Italia casi no piso el area argentina pero se llevó un premio exagerado.
L' argentina non fu mai pericolosa...tutti tiracci fuori. L'italia ebbe solo 2 o 3 occasioni e trovò un grandissimo gol. Risultato giusto!
